Obituary: Hazel Jones Nanny McElrath, age 93, of Carolina Beach, NC, formerly of Old Fort, NC went to be with the Lord , 1, 2015 at Autumn of Myrtle Grove in Wilmington, NC. She was born 6, 1921 in Morgan , TN to the late Arthur Jones and Eliza Anne Norris Jones. Nanny was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Old Fort, NC and retired from Kearfott. She was well known in Old Fort as the little lady that made the homemade fried pies. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Marion McElrath; one son, Ralph Jack McElrath; one daughter, Peggy McElrath; three brothers, Harold, Noah and Arthur Jones; one sister, Alta Collins; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Surviving Nanny are one son, David Eugene McElrath and wife, Martha of Old Fort, NC; one daughter, Kathy Carmack and husband, Jan of Carolina Beach, NC; one brother, Billy Wayne Jones of Black Mountain, NC; three sisters, Ruth Hedrick of Oakdale, TN, Dottie Stafford of Black Mountain, NC and Charlotte Johnston of Kingston, TN; nineteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also grieving her loss, will be all the many people, in McDowell , who knew her as Nanny, that she considered family. A Service will be held at 2:00 PM on , 5, 2015 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Community . The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Nanny will be greatly missed and be held forever in our hearts. Obituary: Maggie Valley, Vinson Pistol Edward McElhannon, Jr., 63, a true southern gentleman, went peacefully to be with the Lord and Savior on , May 18, 2017. A native of Clarke , Georgia, he was the son of the late Vinson Edward and Frances Elizabeth Looney McElhannon. Vinson took great pleasure, joy and pride in working in Gods House, sharing his faith, riding his motorcycle and especially spending time with his family. He never met a stranger he was caring and enjoyed helping others. A man who sacrificed so much in life and left school before the 4th grade in order to provide for his family and was so wealthy from the love he received from others and God. In addition to his parents, Vinson was preceded in death by a nephew, Scottie Mooneyham; a niece, D. Evett Bradley; and a brother by choice, J. Frank Morgan. Vinson is survived by the love of his life, wife, and best friend, Cynthia Avery Jaffe McElhannon; three daughters, Tina McElhannon, of Monroe, Rachel Jaffe, of Charlotte, and Karah Jaffe, of Banner Elk; sisters, Loretta Bradley, of Dallas, North Carolina, Virginia Mooneyham (Raymond), of Iron Station, North Carolina; dozens of cousins and bushels of nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 10, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville, with Reverend Sandy Giles and Reverend George Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. |

Obituary: Samuel Clinton McElhaney, 63, of Charlotte, NC, passed away , 2nd, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born on 3rd, 1952, graduated from Garinger High School, and attended Central Piedmont Community . years in sales, he and his wife Jenny started their own company, Dataprint, in 1978. The success of Dataprint was made possible because of the mutual loyalty and dedication of Sam and his employees. He and Jenny sold the company in 1994, which gave them the opportunity to travel and spend time with their family. Sam was a dedicated member and elder at Sardis Presbyterian Church, and he never missed an opportunity to volunteer and give back to the community. Sam was preceded in death by his father, Samuel L. McElhaney, and his son, Scott McElhaney. He is survived by his wife, Jenny; mother, Betty Knight; brother, Tom McElhaney, and his wife Jane and their children; daughter-in-law, Ellen McElhaney; two grandchildren, Jacob and Julia McElhaney; and many cousins and friends. He also leaves behind his loyal canine companions, Sadie and Stella. A celebration of Sams life will be held , 7th at 2 pm at Sardis Presbyterian Church, 6100 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC, with Dr. J.
