In Addition To Her Parents, She Was Preceded In Death By Her First Husband, Elmo West, Her Second Husband, William Mccracken, Daughter, Tereasa West, Brother, Clyde Allen Wilcox, Sister, Doris Icenhour, Granddaughter, Heidi Hamilton, Grandson, Bo Price And Great Granddaughter, Cheyanne Price. Geraldean Was A Loving And Devoted, Wife, Mother And Grandmother, She Enjoyed Doing Bible Word Search Puzzels, Crossword Puzzles, And In Her Younger Years, She Loved Going Fishing. Those Left To Cherish Her Memory Include Her Children; Darrell West, Debra Price And Husband Edward, Sandra Edwards And Husband Clifford, All Of Lenoir, Brother: Willie Lee Wilcox And Wife Maude Of Morganton, Randy Wilcox, And Wife Sherry Of Statesville, Dennis Wilcox And Wife Betty Of Hudson And A Sister; Renee Townsend Of Lenoir. Obituary: Edith Metcalf McCracken Edith Metcalf McCracken received her heavenly promotion , 22, 2015. Born in Jackson , NC, 31, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Marion Alexander Metcalf and Daisy Frizzell Metcalf. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carl McCracken, Jr., her brother, Marion Metcalf, Jr., her daughter, Shirley McCracken Border, and her son-in-law, Scott Border. Edith loved playing the piano, organ and accordion. She started playing the piano at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Dix Creek Community in 1941. marrying Carl McCracken, Jr. and moving to the Saunook community in 1948, she played the piano, accordion and organ at Pleasant Balsam Missionary Baptist Church from 1948 until the spring of 2015. She was also a school teacher at Pleasant Balsam Church for over 30 years. She enjoyed sewing and crafting. She won several blue ribbons at the NC State Fair for garments she had sewn. She was a charter member of the Haywood Demonstration Club. She worked as an organist at Garrett . Edith was an all-star basketball player at Bethel High School. She played center, and she was on the Bethel girls’ basketball team that were undefeated for 3 years. graduating high school, she also played on Enka and Dayco’s basketball teams. She was a member of the Eastern Star of the Waynesville Masonic Lodge and the Gideons International Auxillary. She is survived by her son, Tim McCracken, and his wife Tracy of Saunook; her sister, Ina Jones, of Dix Creek, her brother Howard Metcalf, and his wife Wanda, of Canton; her granddaughter, Elissa Brown, and her husband, Luke, of Salisbury, NC; and her great-grandsons, Noah and Mason Brown of Salisbury, NC. services will be at 2 PM on , 25, 2015 in the Chapel of Garrett with Reverend Bobby Downs officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 PM to 2 PM on prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Green Hill . Obituary: Flat Rock – Alan Gale McCracken, age 67, passed away on 25, 2015 at Mission Hospitals – Memorial Campus. Alan was born in Haywood on May 16, 1947 to the late Hilda and William McCracken. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard McCracken. He grew up in Longs Chapel United Methodist Church. Alan attended school at Clyde High School where he excelled in athletics and graduated in 1965 and then went on to continue his football career and graduate from Mars Hill . He served in the US Army for two years and dedicated the next 40 years to teaching, coaching, sports officiating, and was a Partners driver with retail operations. Alan will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He loved his chosen church, Snow Hill United Methodist Church and loved to hunt, camp, volunteer, share vegetables from his home-grown garden, and held a special place in his heart for his Scotties. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy Penland McCracken; son, Cory McCracken (Carson); daughter, Molly Carter (Derrick); brothers Jerry (Sue), Mike (Martha); sister-in-law, Karen; and sister, Linda Brown (Myrl); five grandchildren, Reece, Mason, Marlee, Laney, and Skye; and many other extended family and friends. services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 1, 2015 at Enka High School in the gymnasium with the Reverend Carrol Lindsey and Reverend Dianne Johnston officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the cafeteria. Family burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.
