Obituary: Mrs. Judy F. Martin, 66 of Hildebran, passed away , 27, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a short period of declining health. Mrs. Martin was born 25, 1948 in Orangeburg, SC, a daughter of the late John O. and Gladys Johnson Ferguson. She grew up in Myrtle Beach and was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School where she was a member of the band and the varsity basketball team. Mrs. Martin was a faithful member of the Hildebran United Methodist Church where she was active in the church choir and United Methodist Womens Group. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, as well as watching golf. She spent many years as an avid volunteer for Burke Public Schools. She will be most remembered for her compassion of those in need. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Dr. Jerry W. Martin. Surviving are her daughters, Diane Speigle and husband Todd of Hildebran, Susan Erickson and husband Chris of Hildebran, and Kathy Rayfield and husband Patrick of Collettsville. Also surviving are a brother, James A. Ferguson and wife Millie of Winsboro, SC; a sister Gwen Furse and husband Dr. Jim Furse of Lancaster, SC; five grandchildren, Jessica Peeler and husband Derick, Jacob McMonagle, Nathan McMonagle, Daniel McMonagle, and Emmalee Speigle; beloved friend Edwin Marshburn of Hildebran; and her cherished pets Angel, Daisy, and Ada. Services for Judy F. Martin will be held 2:00PM , 30, 2014 at Hildebran United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends , 29, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Heritage Service of Valdese. Entombment will follow the funeral service at Catawba Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mrs. Martin to Hildebran United Methodist Church at PO Box 550 Hildebran, NC 28637 or the Baptist Hospital SECU Family House at 1970 Baldwin Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Obituary: Juanita Elizabeth Shook Martin, 84, of Gastonia, passed away on , 6, 2014 at Robin Johnson House, Dallas. She was born in Marshall, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Mont and Anna Ferguson Shook. Mrs. Martin retired from Bull Frog Manufacturing , Gastonia. Mrs. Martin loved to read and being surrounded by her grandchildren and family. She is survived by one granddaughter, Amy Rossomando and husband Rick and their children, A.J. Rossomando and Sophia Rossomando of Waxhaw; sister-in-law, Margie Shook of Gastonia; brother-in-law, Russ Blair of Florida; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Carothers , Gastonia with the Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers with Rev. Sammy Oxendine officiating. Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
