Obituary: Mollie Bowie Marsh Mollie Bowie Marsh died , 17, at her home at River Landing in Colfax, NC. She was born in Monroe on 2, 1923, the daughter of Charles Carr Bowie and Mollie Iceman Bowie. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 62 years, George McCann Marsh, and her sister, Irene Bowie Murrill (Cutie). She is survived by three daughters and their families: Mollie Marsh Brugh and her husband Pat of Charlotte, Anne Marsh Bernholz and her husband Martin of Harkers Island, and Nancy Marsh Johnson and her husband Jay of Hickory; three grandsons, Graham Brugh (Wendy) of Mars Hill, Will Brugh (Kelley) of Charlotte and Tripp Johnson of El Paso, Texas; and one great-grandchild, Mollie Mae Brugh. She grew up in Monroe and graduated from Womens (now UNC-Greensboro). college, she and her dear friend Anne Freeze worked in New York City where they cheered young men they knew who were shipping off to WWII. When the war ended, she married her sweetheart from Davidson . moved to High Point where George worked for Marsh Furniture and she took tailoring lessons and became an accomplished seamstress. For her daughters, she sewed everything from smocked dresses to prom dresses, consulting Vogue Magazine and Womens Wear Daily. In addition to leadership roles in the Junior League, she was a Girl Scout leader, and an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, the Debutante Club of High Point and the High Point Y. She was a great cook, had a merry disposition and loved nothing better than gathering her family around a holiday table at home or seafood-laden lazy susan at the beach. She loved a competitive game of tennis or bridge, the North Carolina Zoo, Fools Day pranks and her grandsons for whom she held Camp Mollie in the summers and high expectations in everything they undertook. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at River Landing for their care and support, to her compassionate professional caregivers from Instead, especially Johnny Hairston, who matched her wit and festive outlook on life, and to the staff at Hospice of the Piedmont. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on , 26 in the chapel of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point, followed by a reception. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to River Landing Foundation, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, NC 27235 or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
