Obituary: Albert E. Macino, age 81 of Wilmington, passed away , 17, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice with his wife and pastor by his side. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Patty) Macino and father of Deborah (Debbie Macino). He was born in Vandergrift, PA 5, 1936 on Palm , the son of the late Victor and Mary Macino. He graduated with honors from Robert Morris University majoring in accounting. Al proudly served his country in the US Army Counter Intelligence Core. Al made his career in Insurance working at Erie, Nationwide, CNA, and retired from NORCAL Mutual in San Francisco as CEO and President. He relocated to Wilmington in 1993 where he served on various committees and boards. Als passion was exercise. He played basketball, racquetball, and tennis. He was also a runner, bicycler, swimmer and hiker and could be found most days at the workout room. One of his favorite things was going to Blowing Rock, NC to hike in the Smokey Mountains with his family, friends and two dogs. Al was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patty Macino, daughter, Debbie Macino, sister, Joanna Tate, nephews, Mark (Kathy) Tate, Alan (Robin) Tate, niece, Lisa (Joe) DeBenedetto and grandnephews Chris and Daniel (Beth) Rodgers and Derek and Victor DeBenedetto. His family would like to thank the entire staff at Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the loving, excellent care they gave Al. A memorial service to celebrate Als life will be held 11:00 AM on 22 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church at 612 S. Rd, Wilmington, NC 28403. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 or the Alzheimers Association (www.alz.org) or (www.michaeljfox.org) for Parkinsons research. Obituary: Claire A. Stecher Machnowski Claire A. Stecher Machnowski, 91 of Charlotte NC passed away May 22, 2011 after a brief Illness. Born 2, 1919 in Coubourg, Canada; Daughter of the late Jessie and Fredrick Howard, and adopted daughter of the late Kathryn and Elmer Schubert of Rochester, NY. Claire retired as a supervisor from the New York Hilton Hotel, NYC in 1987. Claire was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Claire was a loving Nana for all her 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Claire loved and was loved by all her family and friends. Preceded in death, in addition to her parents, Husbands: Samuel Stecher of Irvington NJ and Chester Machnowski of Long Island NY, and beloved grandson Jamie Bruder. She is survived by a daughter Patricia (James) Bruder of Scottsdale AZ; sons Samuel Stecher Jr. and John Jack Elmer (Barbara) Stecher both of Charlotte. Step-sons Chester and Joe Machnowski; Granddaughters Lisa (Tim) Perkins and Jessica (David) Sherwood both of Phoenix AZ; Grandsons David (Dawn) Bruder of Huston TX, Spencer (Kerry) Stecher and Matthew Stecher both of Charlotte, Brendon OBrian of Hoboken NJ and Great-granddaughters Hannah, Mason, McKenna and Megan and Great-grandsons Caleb, Cade, Dustin, Max and Sam. Obituary: Gerald C. Machgan (Jerry), age 91, of Pinehurst North Carolina formerly of Ft. Wayne, IN, died 15, 2021 at Pinehurst . He was born 18, 1930 at Mauston WI to Chester and Selma Machgan (later Newkirk). He was a Methodist Minister serving churches in Texas, and Indiana. Jerry was a chaplain at Parkview Hospital for 25 years. He was the chaplain at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX that arranged for last rights for President JF Kennedy. Jerry taught Clinical Pastoral at Parkview for many years and was in the Air Force, AF Reserves and Indiana Air National Guard for a total of 22 years. Jerry married Elizabeth A. Burge 9, 1951. Both of Jerrys brothers preceded him in death, Jon Newkirk and Jim Machgan. Surviving Jerry is Liz, wife of 69 years, three children Cindy (Scheib) Novosel & Markus of Pinehurst, NC, Terry Machgan & Brenda (Coy) of Cibolo, TX, Kent Machgan of Ft. Wayne, IN and Paula Neal Rice, daughter of the heart; four grandchildren (Machgan) Ward and Rich, Christina and Mandy Machgan and Nick Scheib & Laci ( Heisley), five great grandchildren, Tisha, Charity and Faith Ward, and Archer and Alice Scheib; nieces Julie Judd and Ken, Mrytice & TJ. Jerry loved his family dogs, all 16 currently. Memorial service will be held in North Carolina , 27 at 6 pm. In Pinehurst United Methodist Church.
