Obituary: Margaret C. Meredith, 88 of Jackson went to be with the Lord on 25, 2010. Services will be at Wright & Ferguson 350 High Street, Jackson. Visitation will be from 3 -5 and 9 am with funeral service at I0:00a.m. and burial following at Lakewood , 6000 Clinton Blvd. Jackson. Margaret was born in Richman VA in 1922 to Emma & Charles Clarke, She graduated in 1939 from Thomas Jefferson High School. She worked for Richmond, Fredricksburg & Pontotoc Railroad and then China Children fund as a secretary in Richmond. In of 1946 she married her beloved husband Lane Dykes Meredith and later moved to Elba, AL. and then to Jackson. She become a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in 1961, were she and Mr. Meredith were active in the youth ministry. Margaret was a devoted and loving wife, mother and mother in law. She always made you feel welcome and loved, with her contagious smile and good wit she was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by Sons: Albert Clarke (Corky) Meredith, Galveston, TX, Mark Lane Meredith, Jackson Miss. Daughter in Law: Sandra Meredith, Jackson Ms. Grandson: Albert Clarke Meredith, Jr., Jackson, MS. Sister: Mrs. Russell A. (Jean) Wood, Mechanicsville, VA. Niece: Janet Scheffinan, Phoenix, AZ Nephew: David Wood, and wife Ida, Forth Worth TX. She was preceded in death by her father Charles and mother Emma, Brother Albert Clarke, and husband Dykes. Obituary: Betsy Matts Meredith, 74, of Brandon, MS, peacefully passed away at St. Dominics Hospital on 15th, 2015. The Memorial services will be held at Parkway in Ridgeland, MS on , 21st, beginning with visitation at 2:00 pm and the memorial services at 4:00 pm. Betsy was born in Jamestown, NY on 13th, 1941 to the late Robert Herman Matts, nationally recognized architect and the late Henrietta Umrath Matts. She shared many special moments and memories with her two surviving sisters, Marilyn Bissell of Charlotte, NC and Janet Prickett of Ft. Myers, FL. Not only were they sisters but the best of friends. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Richard Prickett and many nieces and nephews. Betsy is survived by her husband, Dr. Jim W. Meredith. The two first met while she was riding a float in the Edison Parade of Lights in Ft. Myers, FL. The two shared a glance and a smile from each other and Jim could hardly wait until the parade was over in hope of meeting her. From that point their love for one another blossomed into a marriage of 53yrs. Betsy was a very loving and devoted mother to her two surviving children Jeff W. Meredith of Tallahassee, FL and Melinda Meredith Williams of Brandon, MS. She is survived by her son-in-law, Brad Williams and two grandchildren, Katelyn Williams and Braxton Williams, all of whom she loved and cherished. Betsy graduated from Ft. Myers High School and attended Florida State University. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a great supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs. While her husband attended Graduate School, she served as the Executive Assistant to the VP of Michigan State University and continued her career as the Executive Assistant to the VP of The Georgia Institute of Technology. moving to Mississippi in 1974, Betsy chose to be a stay at home mother. She later returned to her career as the Executive Assistant to the President of M.S. Diversified until her retirement. During her time with us, Betsy was very active in numerous activities and enjoyed traveling to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia during the fall. She was devoted to her family and friends and truly exemplified a delicate flower of love, loyalty, beauty, intellect, and faith. She focused on the goodness in all things while representing an absolute constant pillar of strength that never wavered and benefited us all. She was a rare gift that God bestowed upon us and we were all truly blessed by her presence. Betsy will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
