Obituary: Rosemary McCaffery age 84 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away early morning 23, 2015 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis. She was born 13, 1930 in Chandlerville, Illinois daughter of the late Jack and Viola (Mazuer) McCaffery. Rosemary resided her whole life in Sturgis. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis. She enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, especially when she and her mother traveled to Italy and the Vatican. Rosemary had a deep intimate relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she loved reading her Bible. She is survived by one sister: Joyce L. Shinn of Sturgis; two nieces and one nephew that she dearly loved: Lisa (Larry) Engel of Traverse City and Amy (David) Sayers of Sturgis and Patrick (Carleen) Shinn of Ludington; great nieces and nephews: Justin Mingus, Blakley Sullivan, Corey Shinn, McLaine (Andrew) Mast, Shelby (Alex) Jones, Mallory Shinn and William Shinn; great great nieces and nephews: Reilly Sullivan, Maddilyn Sullivan and Cayson Alexander Shinn. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law: Bill Shinn and niece: Julia Shinn Mingus. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis where a memorial Mass celebrating the life of Rosemary McCaffery will begin at 11:00 A.M. . The Rev. Father German Perez-Diaz will officiate. A graveside committal of the ashes will follow the Mass at Oak Lawn in Sturgis. The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family s, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331 is entrusted with the arrangements. Obituary: Eric Allen Rick McCaffery, age 55, passed away unexpectedly at his Livonia home 4, 2015. Ironically, Rick had persevered successfully with a 9 year battle with multiple cancers, being judged cancer-free earlier in the week by Cleveland Clinic. He was born in Stoughton, Wisconsin on 21, 1960. His family moved to Utica, Michigan in 1965. He graduated from Romeo, MI high school in 1978 and went to college at Macomb Community and Oakland University. He eventually received his BA degree from West Virginia University. Rick had many careers during his lifetime. He worked in management in the plastics industry, refurbished and operated rental properties and became an award-winning multiple franchisee of Little Caesar's Pizza with his brother Kevin and his parents. He also designed, built, launched and operated an Applebee's type dinnerhouse restaurant. Rick was a very hard working, persistent, hands-on individual, that was willing to take on any task. His optimism, great sense of humor, persistence and intelligence helped him in his business career, personal life and his courageous battle with cancer. He was willing to jump in and help anyone with any issue. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed golf, boating, music, movies, and the arts. Most of all, he loved being with his family, his soul-mate Jan, and his collie, Sky, and cat, Callie. He is survived by his parents, Ron and Barb McCaffery of South Lyon, MI, his brothers Kevin of Ann Arbor, MI and Douglas of Farmington Hills, MI and Kevin's partner, Jeff Gunnoe. He will be missed by his many friends and family in Wisconsin, West Virginia and Michigan. His long-time soulmate Jan, preceded him in an unexpected death in 2013. Services will be held at Harry J. Will in Livonia. Visitation will be , 11, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM. On , 12, visitation will begin at 10 AM, with the Service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cleveland Clinic. |

Obituary: Richard A. McCafferty, Sr. - Of Jackson, passed away on , May 15, 2017 at the age of 69. He will be remembered by his children, Tracy (Billy) McCafferty, Richard (Jennifer) McCafferty Jr., Kimberly (Danny) McCafferty, stepsons, James and Levat Ruse; grandchildren, Jeremy, Timothy, Treven, Miranda, Paige, Bradley, Bethany, Alexis, Jayley, Abbigayle, Rebecca, and Richard; siblings, Arvid McCafferty, Rosemary (Gary) Judd, Barbara (Chuck) McCafferty, Cindy (Bob) Brooks; special friend, Margaret Daniels; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Miller and Debra Simpkins; and granddaughter, Kirsty McCafferty. He was born to Richard and Dorothy (Gumper) McCafferty in Jackson on 6, 1947. He graduated from East Jackson and he served in the United States Army. He worked at General Products and in 1981 relocated to Florida. He later returned to Michigan to be near family. He enjoyed drag racing, camping, working on cars, and most of all hanging out with his family. Richard touched the hearts and lives of many; he will be greatly missed by all. Cremation has taken place and a service celebrating his life will be held at Chas. J. Burden & Son on , May 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service. |
