Obituary: Owen Marmon East Lansing, MI Owen Holloway Marmon, 91, formerly of Okemos, Grand Ledge and Naples, Florida, passed away 5, 2014 while a resident of Burcham Hills Retirement . Owen was born in Detroit on 18, 1923 to Ira and Lillian Marmon. graduating from Eastern High School, he entered the Army Air Corp and was honored for completing 16 bombing missions. He graduated from MSU on the GI Bill. He met his wife, Marilyn, while on leave from service. married 15, 1946 and made their home in Okemos, Michigan where they raised three daughters. Owen enjoyed a rewarding career at Auto-Owners Insurance , assuming the role of CEO and Chairman of the Board prior to his retirement. He was privileged to serve on the Boards of Sparrow Hospital, American Bank & Trust and First America Bank. l Owen believed traveling was essential to education and was fortunate to have travelled extensively with his wife. His passion for playing the piano filled their home with music and nurtured his creative needs for many years. Lyn and Owen spent their retirement years in Naples, Florida enjoying golf and good weather. To know Owen was to know a quiet man, rich in modesty, discipline, ethics and compassion. Owen was preceded in death by his brother Leon. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and three daughters, Nancy Kreider of DeWitt, Barbara Rock of Mason and Rebecca Ballard of Haslett; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A private family gathering will take place to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank, P. O. Box 16224, Lansing, MI 48901. Obituary: Madeline Marmolick, age 76, died , 8, 2016 at her home in Warren surrounded by her loving family. She was born 23, 1940 in Detroit to the late James and the late Mary (nee: Burke) Staunton. Growing up on Detroits west side, Madeline was a proud graduate of the citys renowned, Blessed Sacrament High School. Amazingly, throughout her young life at that point, she had never ventured to the city of Hamtramck. Though she had heard much about the Polish capital of Michigan, (well…at least, back then), nothing had really drawn her to the iconic city until one appointed day when she and a classmate decided check out the Hamtramck scene. As they sauntered into a soda shop for sweet treat, little did Madeline know the reat she was about to encounter. Sitting in that same establishment was a dashing young gentleman by the name of Donald. Call it fate,…Kismet,…or simply, a blessing from God,…there was no mistaking the sparks that flew the minute their eyes and hearts met,…and it was truly love at first sight. A casual stop in a soda shop began the story,…and romance wrote the rest. That love grew and blossomed into a relationship that led the two love-struck kids to the altar, and to the beginning of their lives together as husband & wife. were married on 29, 1959 at St. Suzanne Catholic Church in Detroit in the presence of loved ones and friends alike. The newlyweds made their first home on the northeast side of Detroit where they lived from 1959 until relocating to the new and burgeoning bedroom community of Warren in 1964. It is there that they remained to build strong and sturdy roots towards the warmth and comforts of home and hearth. Madeline poured the best part of her caring and maternal spirit into the role of homemaker, tending to the needs of family and home at every corner. tackling the needs of the day, she did enjoy some personal escapes and favorite pastimes, one of which was feeding her daily soap opera appetite. She loved being wrapped in the storylines and drama of each show, and sharing the recaps with fellow enthusiasts. She also loved getting lost in the joys of her garden, a manifestation of that caring spirit within that translated itself to the realm of nature. With a green thumb and an eye for beauty, Madeline exuded the utmost in tender-loving-care to the nurturing and upkeep of her backyard haven. And like most homemakers, Madeline knew her way around the kitchen and could whip up some pretty tasty treats,…especially when it came to those precious cherubs, her grandchildren. As they could all attest, nobody cooked like Grandma. Then there was another passion,…Madelines drive to give Ol Lady Luck a run for her money at the casinos. For the most part, it was all about playin the slots and trying not to come home broke. But really, it was also much about the fun and entertainment, and sharing the fun with others. And with the inception of everything digital, Madelines appetite was no longer relegated, solely, to the casinos after she was introduced to the wonders of playing the slots on her iPad. Will wonders never cease? And for the Mac Daddy with all gaming aficionados, theres no casino that can hold a candle to the aura of Las Vegas,…and nobody knew that better than Madeline who enjoyed many wonderful, glitz-filled trips to the gambling mecca of the world. Madeline will also be fondly remembered for her strong and abiding faith, and for how it worked itself out through the kind and compassionate person she was. A longtime parishioner of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, Madeline was a faithful attendee every . And if church wasn enough to fill the soul, she certainly enjoyed topping off the experience at the many brunches shared with friends after church. Fellowship & food always made for some warm and wonderful memories that Madeline truly cherished. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Madeline gave from the heart and touched a multitude of lives throughout her journey. She leaves behind her own legacy of love to be embraced with each remembrance shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Madeline was the beloved wife of Donald for 56 years. Obituary: Donald Walter Marmolick, age 80, died , 5, 2016 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Donald was born 13, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Walter Marmolick and the late Wanda (nee: Jablonowski) Marmolick. Donald was raised in Hamtramck and graduated from St. Ladislaus Catholic High School, the Class of 1954. While in high school, he and other male classmates formed the Blue Flames social group, a group of friends that held close bonds throughout their adult lives. Initially, the Blue Flames held their annual Weenie Roast to raise money to buy the local girls beautiful dresses. Additionally, Don was somewhat of a pool shark... he was a very talented billiards player and an even better Snooker player. Following his schooling, Donald went to work in the road paving industry and eventually met the love of his life, Mary Madeline Staunton. The young couple were married on 29, 1959 at St. Suzanne Catholic Church in Detroit. The newlyweds made their first home on the northeast side of Detroit where they lived from 1959 until relocating to the new and burgeoning bedroom community of Warren in 1964. It is there that they remained to build strong and sturdy roots towards the warmth and comforts of home. Throughout his career, Don worked for A&A Paving, Ministrelli & Sons Paving, and Nagle Paving where he retired as an operating engineer. He was a lifetime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 324 AFL-CIO. During the winter months when road paving shut-down, Don worked part-time at Pine Knob fitting the kids with skis, delivering fuel oil to homes, and also delivered pizza for Little Ceasars. When Don was not working, he enjoyed fishing and going to the casinos with his wife. Additionally, while resting at home, Don could always be found catching one of his beloved sports teams playing... he was truly a die-hard Detroit sports fan. Don was devoted to his Catholic faith, was a longtime parishioner of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, a faithful attendee at every Mass, and also served with the Ushers. On most s following Mass, Don and his wife enjoyed many brunches with other parish members and friends. Donald Marmolick was the beloved husband of the late Mary Madeline, and was the dear father of Kathy (Dave) Fuhrman. He was the devoted grandfather of Jennifer Fuhrman, Kimberly Fuhrman (fiancé Andy Cafretsas), David (Jaimie) Fuhrman Jr. and great-grandfather of Alexis, Braylin, Brennan, Ashley and Max. Don was also the brother of the late Nancy Tolliver. Visitation for Mr. Marmolick will be held , 8th from 3-9 pm, with a 7 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons , 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. Mr. Marmolick will lie in state on from 10:30 am until the time of her Mass at 11:00 am at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Sterling Heights. Celebrating the Liturgy will be Reverend Fr. Obituary: Kenneth Allan Marlow was born on 26, 1942 in Dearborn, Michigan. He was the fourth child of the late George and Helen Marlow. Kenneth passed away on 12, 2016 in Huntington Woods, Michigan at the age of 74. Kenneth had a strong sense of duty and honor. He gave back to his community by serving as a Police Officer and a member of the Army Reserves. He began his career with the Detroit Police Department, serving five years before transferring to the Livonia Police Department. Kenneth retired as a Detective Sargent with the Livonia Police Department in 1999. Mr. Marlow was the loving husband of Carole Ann Marlow (nee Garver) for 50 years. Cherished father of Scott Marlow, Kristina Marlow, and Lisa (Michael) Wright. Proud grandfather of Ella and Greta Wright. Dear brother of Donald (Betty) Marlow and Barbara Marlow. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings George (Mary) Marlow and Robert Marlow. Kenneth also leaves to cherish his memory many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Kenneths life will be celebrated with a memorial service on 14, 2016 at 4 pm, with a gathering beginning at 2 pm and following the service at the Harry J. Will , 37000 Six Mile Rd.
