Obituary: Rev. Lynn Grace (McClentic) MacLagan, age 79, of Somerset, passed away surrounded by her loving family on , 13, 2015. She was the wife of Charles D. MacLagan to whom she had been married for 57 years. Born in Pawtucket, RI the daughter of the late Herbert and Laura (Cartwright) McClentic, she was a graduate of Central High School in Pawtucket, received her Bachelors Degree from Baker University in Kansas and earned her Masters of Divinity from Boston University. Rev. MacLagan, was one of the first female ministers to be ordained and ministered for over 30 years before retiring in 2011. She served the Great Barrington Methodist Church, United Methodist Church in Newport RI, United Methodist Parish and South United Methodist Churches in Middleborough MA, Washington Street Baptist Church in Lynn, Hornbine Baptist Church in Rehoboth and served as Chaplain at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Church Women United, American Baptist Womens Ministries and involved in many church choirs over the years. She was also a member of the Somerset Baptist Church and Somerset Historical Society. She was an avid reader and loved her pets. She enjoyed going to the Providence Performing Arts , traveling to Maine, Ohio, Texas, Canada and twice to the Holy Lands. She held Bible study for over 20 years. In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by five children, Wes MacLagan and his wife Carol of Rehoboth, Mark MacLagan and his wife Barbara of Fall River, Scott MacLagan of Dresden, ME, Kirk MacLagan and his wife Donna of Leeds, ME and Laura Griffin and her husband Charlie of Derry, NH; a brother Roger McClentic and his wife Linda of Sun City, AZ; a cousin Barbara Osborne and her husband Roger of Providence; her caregiver and family friend Linsey Hightower of Somerset; 24 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her Service of Thanksgiving and Tribute will be held on , 28, 2015 at 3PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST 189 Gardners neck Rd., Swansea. Obituary: Reverend Charles D. MacLagan, Chuck, age 87, of Somerset, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on , 12, 2016 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Reverend Lynn G. (McClentic) MacLagan. Born in Philadelphia, a son of the late Donald W. and Florence (Day) MacLagan, he spent his youth in South Euclid, Ohio. He lived in North East Ohio for many years coming to Massachusetts in 1966. He lived in Scituate, Whitinsville, Pepperell, Lynn, Rockland, and Wakefield, Rhode Island before moving to Somerset over twenty years ago. A graduate of Brush High School, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Ministry from Mount Union and his Masters of Divinity from Boston University. An ordained minister for over fifty-five years, he retired from East Taunton Methodist Church in Dighton in 2011. He and his wife served at the Hornbine Baptist Church together and were Chaplains at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He also served in various churches throughout his career in Ohio, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. A member of the Somerset Historical Society, he sang in the Taunton Civic Chorus, church choirs, and with his wife wrote and performed dramas and skits for churches and he and his wife hosted trips to the Holy Land. Reverend MacLagan enjoyed model railroads, antique cars, and stamp and coin collecting. He is survived by five children, Wes MacLagan and his wife Carol of Rehoboth, Mark MacLagan and his wife Barbara of Fall River, Scott MacLagan of Dresden, ME, Kirk MacLagan and his wife Donna of Leeds, ME and Laura Griffin and her husband Charlie of Derry, NH; one brother, James MacLagan of Denver, CO; twenty-four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His Service of Thanksgiving and Tribute will be held on 2, 2016 at 10AM in the Waring-Sullivan of Memorial Tribute at BIrchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to his service from 9 to 10AM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Somerset Historical Society, P.O. Obituary: Henryka (Zelazna) Macko, 93, of Worcester, died 11, 2015 in Worcester Rehabilitation & . Her husband, Jozef Macko died in 1966. She is survived by her six children, Halina Chojnowska and her husband Stanislaw of Poland; Jadwiga Parzych and her husband Jan of Auburn; Irena Wegrowska and her husband Aleksander of Poland; Stanislaw Macko and his wife Barbara, Marek Macko and his wife Marianna and Andrzej Macko and his wife Agnieszka all of Worcester; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a brother Eugeniusz Zelazny and his wife Dorota of Poland and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Bozenica, Poland. She is the daughter of the late Telesfor and Katarzyna (Szymanska) Zelazny and was predeceased by a brother and two sisters. Mrs. Macko raised her children with her husband and worked on their farm in Poland. She loved horses, gardening, cooking and crocheting. She moved to the United States in 1981 and worked as a housekeeper until she retired. Most of all, she loved to be with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Macko was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. The family wishes to thanks the staff of Worcester Rehabilitation & for the compassionate care given to Henryka. The funeral will be held on 19, 2015 with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street, Worcester, Massachusetts. Calling hours will be on , 18, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, Worcester, Massachusetts. Burial will be in Lomza, Poland. |
