Obituary: Donald Bruce MacKay was born on 13th, 1928 in Lynn, Massachusetts and went to be with the Lord on 19th, 2016 peacefully while under the care of hospice at his daughter’s home in Westford, MA. He was the son of the late Herman Bruce MacKay and Margaret (Brewster) MacKay. He grew up in Lexington, MA and graduated from Lexington High School in the class of 1947. He attended Franklin Technical Institute of Boston, played LHS hockey, and was on the Junior Olympic Semi-Pro Hockey Team. He proudly served his country as a Sargent in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was married to Barbara McKenzie MacKay for 63 loving years and they made their home in Lexington. Don’s career began with his family business, H.B. MacKay & Son Plumbing & Heating. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida to work for Crane Plumbing & Heating Wholesalers and later returned to Massachusetts to work at their Boston office. He later took over the family plumbing business and opened MacKay Hardware in Lexington, which he ran until 1989. Don started Lexington Youth Hockey in 1964, which later became Hayden Youth Hockey. He was a member of Simon W. Robinson Masonic Lodge and Aleppo Shriners as well as being active with the Minute Man Shrine Club and was a member of the Mass Bay Winnies. He enjoyed extensive travel either in his motor home, on cruises, or spending time at Bow Lake in New Hampshire. Additionally, Don was an active member of First Baptist Church in Ruskin, FL. He was a man of miracles, who never gave up fighting no matter how hard the battle. His life was full of devoted love, unmatched strength, and innocent trouble. We will miss him always. Don is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara A. (McKenzie) MacKay, and is the father of Scott D. MacKay – married to Mary Anne (Rizzotto) MacKay – and Susan J. MacKay Higgins– married to Michael K. Higgins Sr. – all of Westford, MA. He is also the grandfather of Morgan (MacKay) Maguire—married to Ross Maguire—of Andover, MA; Taylor MacKay of South Boston; and Matthew MacKay Higgins of Strafford, NH. MACKAY, Donald Bruce, age 88 of Sun City , FL formally of Bow Lake, Strafford, NH and Lexington. 19th, 2016. A memorial service will be held at Journey Church on the Common, 9 Academy Street, Chelmsford, on , 23rd, 2016 at 2:30pm. Visitation and memorial luncheon will follow at the Radisson Hotel in Chelmsford. Obituary: Donald G. MacKay, of Newton died on Dec 9, 2014. He was 91 years old. Born in Boston, Don graduated from Mechanic Arts High School and served in the US Army during WW II. He spent his career at Boston Edison retiring after 52 years. Don was a Life Member of Fraternity and Fuller Lodge AF & AM, a member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine, Scottish Rite, Palestine Chapter OES and Past President of the Newton Masonic Club. Don was also selected by artist R.H. Ives Gammel as the subject of his painting Minute Man. Don was the devoted husband of the late Anna I. (MacKay) and loving father of Carol J. of Newton, Shirley A. of Quincy, Katherine E. OMalley of Marlborough, Donald A. of Nashua and the late Mary Katherine MacKay and grandfather of Andrea MacKay. Brother of Hazel Trask of Annapolis, MD. A visiting hour will begin at 11 AM on Sat Dec 13in the Eaton & Mackay 465 Centre St. Newton Corner followed by a funeral service at Noon. Obituary: MacKay, David R. - 72, Of Scituate and Naples, FL passed away peacefully at home on the morning of 30, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. With grace and courage, he battled melanoma for nearly five years. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lee (McHale) MacKay, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. Devoted father of Suzanne MacKay, MD of Scituate, Scott MacKay and his wife Carolynn of Milton, and Sarah Nunnery and her husband Robert of Hanover. Cherished Grampa of William, Elizabeth and Katherine Nunnery, Lia Martinez and Cora, Salvatore and Josephine MacKay. Son of the late Robert and the late Cora (Sewall) MacKay of Braintree and Hingham. Also survived by his siblings Jean MacKay of Hingham and Paul MacKay and his wife Jan of Scituate and their family. A graduate of Braintree High School, Northeastern University, and Suffolk Law School. David was deeply committed to his family-run electrical contracting business, Edward G. Sawyer , where he was the President, CEO, and Chairman for 40 years. Active in the electrical contracting industry for 50 years, David was a dedicated member of the Boston Chapter of the National Electrical Contracting Association (NECA). He was also active in the industry nationally, serving on NECA's Executive Committee and the ELECTRI International Board of Trustees. He was honored for his contributions to the industry with induction into the Academy of Electrical Contracting (2005), NECA's Richard Addio Distinguished Service Award (2012) and the Wendt Award for Exemplary Leadership and Service (2015). Generous with his time and talents, David was involved in many community organizations throughout his life. He served on the Town of Scituate Conservation Commission and Planning Board, as well as the Board of the Old Colony Council of the Boy Scouts. He was President of the Braintree Rotary Club, and Co-Chair of the St. Mary's Parish Building Committee, among others. Most importantly, David's life was marked by his love of family. He shared all of life's adventures with his wife and best friend, Mary Lee. enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family. He was a constant presence and source of inspiration for his three children. He was endlessly delighted by his seven grandchildren. David enjoyed the company of his many friends, with whom he shared his passion for golf and skiing, his love of contemporary jazz, and his appreciation of single malt scotch and a good cigar. A man of strength, integrity, temperance and humor, David will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have shared time with him. from the Richardson-Gaffey , 382 First Parish Road, SCITUATE on 4th at 9 AM.
