Obituary: STANDISH - Scott Otis McCubrey, 62, passed away unexpectedly with his family at his side on Feb. 24, 2014, at Maine Medical in Portland after his long struggle with cancer. He was born in Portland on 31, 1951, the son of the late Donald and Jean McCubrey, and graduated from Falmouth schools. He attended Ricker in Houlton as well as the plumbing apprentice school at Southern Maine Technical in South Portland. He was a Master Plumber in the State of Maine. He was a member of the Standish Lions Club. Throughout most of his working years, he was a plumber and mechanical contractor. Most recently, he was employed as a Lead Estimator for Johnson and Jordan Mechanical Contractors in Scarborough. Scott enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. Highlights of the last few years include: shooting a moose at 300 plus yards; hunting in Alberta, Canada; fishing in upstate New York; meeting his first grandson; enjoying vacations with his wife and children; and celebrating his 40th year wedding anniversary in Antigua. He spent countless hours of his life enjoying the outdoors in the woods and on the water. All who knew him will miss his sense of humor, loyalty, dedication, hard work, and strong sense of family and value. Scott is survived by his brother, James McCubrey of North Carolina; his sister, Ellen Ferland of Massachusetts; his wife, Claire McCubrey of Standish; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Ryan York of Westbrook; his son, Ray McCubrey of Utah; his grandson Griffin York of Westbrook; and many extended family members. Visiting hours will be held from 10-11 am on , 2, 2014, at Jones Rich & Hutchins , 199 Woodford St. Portland, where a Celebration of Life service will follow at 11 am. Obituary: Scarborough- Robert C. McCubrey, 86, of South Portland, passed away on 6, 2015. The son of Robert W. and Charlotte (Otis) McCubrey, he was born in Portland ME on May 3, 1928. He graduated from South Portland High School. He married Barbara Thompson on 9, 1947. Robert worked for Chevron Oil for 32 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for many years and had a passion for his camp at Alder Stream in Eustis where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by two sons, Dale and Peter McCubrey. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara McCubrey, his daughter Carol McCubrey, of Sacramento CA, his daughter, Marian Wheeler of Baldwin, and his son Robert A. McCubrey of Windham. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sherry Holt of Gloucester MA, Ernest Holt Jr. of Lakeworth FL, Michael McCubrey of Bridgton, and Andrew and Matt Wheeler of Standish, seven great grandchildren, five brothers and a sister. Obituary: Portland- Evangeline Layton McCubrey, 93, died peacefully while living with her twin sister at Park Danforth. The third daughter of Fred N. and A. Beatrice (Spicer) Layton, was born on 5, 1920 in South Portland. She reminded the family often that her twin sister was born a few minutes before her, making her the youngest. grew up on Thirlmere Ave. and graduated from South Portland High in 1938 and attended Northeastern University. She went on to work at Canal Bank, H. P. Hood, and the US Navy Civil Service doing secret work, as she would call it. met Warren McCubrey at the Penguin Ski Club, and they later married, and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2012. She was active in many ways at Woodfords Congregational Church, Ralph D. Caldwell American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Woodfords Club. enjoyed helping others and spending time on Sebago Lake at the camp her father built. She was predeceased by her husband Warren in 2012 and her elder sister, Stella Wentworth. Surviving are her twin sister Jeanette Hall; a son David W. McCubrey and wife Denise of Hollis; granddaughter Heather McCubrey, grandson Kelsey McCubrey, granddaughter Kayla McCormick, all of Hollis; and four great-grandchildren who she couldn talk enough about; Rick, Kirsten, William and Jaise. Obituary: Portland- Jean Olive McCubrey, 87, of Middle Road, Falmouth died at Seaside and Rehabilitation , on , 17, 2012. . Born Jean Olive Chetley in St John, Canada, Jean was the daughter of David and Lillian Chetley. Jean immigrated to Maine as an infant and attended schools in South Portland, graduating Salutatorian in 1942. She proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1947. Jean and her late husband, Donald O. McCubrey, were married 7, 1946 and moved to Falmouth where they resided for over sixty years. Jean worked in the field of Market Research for over thirty years. Much of that time, she ran her own company. As a member of the Falmouth Congregational Churchs Womens Guild, Jean helped with the parish suppers, church fairs and other church events. Jean sang in the choir for many years. An active member of the Womens Woodfords Club, Jean enjoyed being with her friends, reading, gardening and traveling. For many years, she accompanied her husband, Donald, when he played for the Kora Temple Shrine Royal Guards. Jean is survived by: her daughter, Ellen Ferland and her husband, Richard of Methuen, MA., two sons, Scott and his wife Claire of Standish, ME., and James of Greenville, N.C.; five grandchildren, Marc, Beth, Jeff, Raymond and Julie: and two great-grandchildren, Merrit and Brody; her brothers John Chetley and Murray Chetley; and several nieces and nephews. Obituary: GREENFIELD - Alberta Christine McCrossin, 89, went to Heaven on the evening of 13, 2015, to meet her Savior and to reunite with her devoted husband Herbert Leon McCrossin, her parents Robert and Agda Swedberg, and brother Roger Swedberg and wife Arlene. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on 7, 1926. She lived in a Swedish community, with her grandparents living on the floor above her. Her family called her Berta and Bertie. She survived the Great Depression and was a very resourceful woman who could make a feast out of whatever was at hand, and an adventure out of whatever path we had to follow. She worked for the University of Maine for many years, both at Bangor and at Orono. She had a love for the piano and enjoyed playing hymns. She was a school teacher for many years. She read the Bible and found great comfort in the Psalms. She said if there was one thing she wanted to be remembered for it was: she prayed. If she knew you, she prayed for you faithfully. She was legendary in her athletic abilities in the presence of mice and could jump remarkably high, making precise landings on piano bench, chair, or table in a fraction of a second. She was an avid swimmer in her youth in Massachusetts, which undoubtedly conditioned her for dealing with mice in a Maine farmhouse. She is survived by two children, Nancy C. Deschene and husband Camille of East Millinocket, Stephen R. McCrossin, Sr. and wife Linda of Greenbush (who lovingly took care of her in their home for a year and a half); grandchildren Amy Potter and husband Jamey, Kathy McCrossin and companion Ray, Stephanie Thompson and husband Adam, Stephen R. McCrossin, Jr. and wife Brianne, Christine Horton and husband Robbie, Cindy Deschene, Gina Deschene and partner Greg Hawksley, and a nephew Roger Swedberg Jr., great grandchildren Emma and Ethan, Tyson and dad Jason, Whitney, Waylon and Gunner Thompson, Alexandria, Keegan, Maeve, and Forest McCrossin. She was a woman who loved God and now she has met him. |

Obituary: Yarmouth - Henry Bullard McCrillis, 86, died peacefully in Coastal Manor of Yarmouth, Maine on 10, 2015. Henry was born on 12, 1929 in Arlington Massachusetts to Neal and Marion (Bullard) McCrillis. serving his country in the US Army, and being honorably discharged 1947, Henry pursued his passion of helping people by attending, and graduating from several prestigious schools; University of New Hampshire with a BA in Sociology, Western Reserve Union with a degree in Social work, and finishing with a Masters degree of science in social services from Boston University. With these degrees Henry was able to truly pursue his passion by working in his field throughout his life helping people in several VA hospitals throughout New England, as well several years in the private sector. Henry was an accomplished singer and drummer, and could be heard at family gatherings belting out songs with his powerful voice much to the delight of family and friends. Henry also had a dry sense of humor which could bring a house down with his timing. He truly enjoyed the outdoors, and all it offered, but he truly loved skiing, gardening, swimming, and walking with his beloved Dalmatians Sadie & Sheba. In his later years Henry enjoyed his loving cat Henny Penny resting in his lap, while gazing out at his wifes wonderful gardens. He spent a fair amount of his life in Sandwich, New Hampshire at the family farm and their two houses called Kinderheim and Martel and if you asked anyone in his family they would say that is where Hank elonged as he truly loved it there. He always commented hat the peace and tranquility that he found there made all the outside noise bearable. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jean Broberg of Freeport, Maine; two sisters; Jane Berg of Wisconsin and Nancy Weckworth of Montana. He was also married to Constance Hunt McCrillis. had four children; Katherine, Gretchen, David, and Nancy. He is survived and loved by 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nephews, and nieces. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on , May 14, 2015 at 9:00 am at the Veterans , on Civic Drive, in a. Services are under the care of Lindquist , 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. Obituary: AUBURN - Pauline B. McCrellis, 80, of Lewiston passed away peacefully at the Hospice House of Adroscoggin and Hospice on 3, 2015. Pauline was born in Lewiston on 7, 1935, the daughter of the late Fortunat Bouffard and Yvonne Marquis. Pauline had a love for teaching and spending time with family. In her down time, she enjoyed reading; especially Stephen King novels. Pauline enjoyed going on trips whenever she got the chance. Pauline is survived by her three children, James McCrellis and his fiancée Christine Anctil of Lewiston, Rebecca Clark of Auburn and Steve McCrellis of Lewiston; two brothers, Gerald Bouffard of Lewiston, and Paul Bouffard of Colorado; grandson, Robert Clark of Auburn; and her longtime companion, Richard Marquis of New Hampshire. She is predeceased by her husband, Stewart McCrellis in 1995, whom she married in of 1959.
