Obituary: NEW IBERIA - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dorothy Dot Bodin Migues, age 94, at 1:00 pm on , 26, 2015 at St. Peters Catholic Church with Fr. William Blanda officiating. Interment will follow at Migues in Delcambre, LA. Visitation will be held on from 8:30 am until the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 am. A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Migues passed away at 5:40 pm on , 22, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy Dot Bodin Migues, the eldest of 5 children, was born to Saul and Hilda Bodin. Their home was in a small community south of Jeanerette, LA called Four Corners. Dot's childhood was a happy one. When she graduated from Franklin High School in 1939, Dot moved into a boarding house and began working at the salt mine on Weeks Island where she met the love of her life, Leroy Migues. She and Leroy were married in 1944 and remained happily married until his death in 1988. Once they were married, they moved to New Iberia where Dot became a housewife and a mother to the three children she and Leroy had. Dot enjoyed dancing, especially to big band music. Some of her favorite times were spent at Pangay's nightclub dancing to local bands with her husband and friends. She enjoyed any television show that contained music. Lawrence Welk was one of her favorites and she listened to his program until her passing. She also enjoyed traveling. She and Leroy had friends who owned a mobile home and they took numerous trips around the country with them and two other couples. She always said how it was amazing how all of them got along so well in such cramped quarters. Leroy passed away, she went on many trips with her daughter and usually one of her sisters went with them. Her lifelong dream was to go to Hawaii and she finally got the chance the year after her husband died. She also went to Europe and Canada with her daughter. Dot would stop whatever she was doing whatever time of the day it was to play a game of Scrabble. She was such a devoted player, that she would play sometimes until her back began to ache. Only then did she stop. She had to stop playing the game in her later years when she could no longer see due to macular degeneration. Dot and Leroy enjoyed getting together with one of Dot's sisters and her husband every now and then for the weekend to play Casino, a card game. would play partners and the house would fill with laughter. Dot was very much a southern lady. She was not loud or arrogant. One of her nieces took to calling her "the queen" because of her demeanor. She was beautiful inside and out. She was kind and always had a smile on her face. She will be missed by family and friends here on earth, but Leroy is happy to have his queen back. Dot is survived by her two sons, Larry Migues and Michael Migues both of New Iberia; one daughter, Cynthia Migues of New Iberia; two grandchildren, Hollie Nichols of Meridian, MS and Joshua Migues of Hobbs, NM; four great-grandchildren, Cashin Migues, Harley Hall, Andy Hall, and Brandon Nichols; one brother, Elais EJ Bodin of New Iberia; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Bodin.
