Patrick Charles McKinney, P.E. (retired) died , Jan 16th, 2015. He is survived by his soul mate and wife of 15 years, Suzie, his brother Larry (Sandra), his brother-in-law Charles Dittmer (Susan), and his five children and their spouses, Colleen and Bill Morgan, Midge and Marc Arena, Shannon McKinney and Gina Stango, Stephen and Amanda McKinney, and Bobby and Dana McKinney. He is also survived by ten grandchildren (Ellen Morgan and Avery Morgan Graves (Matthew), Madeleine and Mason Arena, Catherine, Elizabeth and Ella McKinney, Quinlan, Reagan, and Cameron McKinney) and one great granddaughter (Lilly Elizabeth Graves). He was preceded in death by his parents, Loubet and Esther McKinney, his sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Elmer Wendel, and his grandson Andrew McKinney Arena.

Pat was born and raised in New Orleans and graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1957. He attended Tulane University as an U.S. Army ROTC Cadet, where he graduated with a Civil Engineering degree from the Tulane University School of Engineering in 1961. He proudly served as a 2ndLt in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to Louisiana, where he worked for 50 years in the oil and gas construction industry. During his esteemed career as a licensed professional engineer, he served as Vice President of Offshore Construction for Williams McWilliams, Manager for O.P.I. International, Manager for J. Ray McDermott Inc., and Senior Project Manager for Project Consulting Services, Inc.

Pat received a kidney transplant in 2004. He was always extremely grateful for this gift and was determined to live life to its fullest potential. He and Suzie embraced this opportunity together, traveling the world and visiting all seven continents. observed penguins in Antarctica, they scuba dived in Australia, and they soaked in the culture and beauty of Buenos Aires, Rome and Athens. travelled everywhere, but their favorite place was always in each other’s arms.

Patrick was a devoted member of St. Benilde Parish in Metairie. Army Officer, oil man, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend; his sense of humor, wise counsel, kindness, generosity and beautiful blue eyes will all be sorely missed.

Family and friends are invited to funeral services which will be held on , 22, 2015 at Lake Lawn Metairie in New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am followed by a Mass at 1:00 pm, with interment in All Saints Mausoleum.
