Obituary: Memorial Services will be conducted at a later date for Gerald Jerry McKay, age 85 in Festus, MO. A native of Festus, MO and resident of Kaplan, Mr. McKay passed away at 2:41 am on , 24, 2017 at Abbeville General Hospital. Mr. McKay served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard and retired after 30 years of service with the rank of Captain. He also retired from Plumbers and Pipe Fitters in St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed traveling in his 5th wheel and spending time outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Elsie B. McKay of Kaplan; two daughters, Marilyn Smith and husband William of Crystal City, MO and Barbara Hedge and husband Rick of Festus, MO; two step daughters, Linda Vincent and husband Charles of Kaplan and Debra Guidry and husband Mark of Sulphur and one step son, Bobby Easley and wife Gloria of Kaplan; one brother, Norman Herb McKay of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren; five step grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal Thomas and Mattie Francis Maupin McKay; two sisters, Maybelle Villmare and Martha LaLumandier and four brothers, Henry Silas McKay; Robert Howard McKay; Hal Floyd McKay and John Ernest McKay. Obituary: STARKS - Avis "Cotton" McKay, 77, passed away , 26, 2014 in a local hospital. He was a lifelong Starks resident, a Veteran of the Air Force and a retired as a welder from Livingston Shipyard in Orange. Cotton enjoyed gardening and watching horse racing and spent many hours volunteering his services for VFW Post 4759 of Starks. He loved his family and especially spoiling his grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Scott R. McKay, Steven A. McKay and Cassidy H. McKay all of Starks; brother, Archie McKay of Houston; sisters, Melba Jean Touchet and Richard of Kaplan, Enid "Sissy" Broussard and J.E. "Slim" of Vinton; and Maxine McDonald of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Lucas W. Barlow and Jacklyn, Sheramie Barlow and Kenneth, Danny Barlow and Brandi; and Jody Barlow and Julia; great-grandchildren, Terhyn, Jordhyn and Hunter Barlow; and Chaston O'Bannon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester A. and Susie McKay; wife, Linda Ward McKay; son, Steven Avis McKay; daughter, Sheryl Jean Barlow; grandson, Derrick Barlow; and two brothers, Arice Birdie McKay and Arnold Toad McKay. Services will be at 2 p.m., , 29 in Hixson of Vinton. The Rev. Jeremy Shields will officiate. Burial will follow in Miller Annex of Starks. Obituary: Shreveport, LA- services celebrating the life of Gary Wayne McKaskle, Jr., 37, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on , 16, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on , 15, 2015 at Centuries Memorial . Gary, beloved son of Gary, Sr. and Polly Benfield McKaskle, passed away at home on 11, 2015, surrounded by his loving parents, family and friends. Gary fought a courageous battle against cancer for the past 2 years. Gary never met a stranger and was happiest when he could make others laugh with his great stories. He was an avid New Orleans Saints and LSU football fan, anything Duck Dynasty and NASCAR races which he attended every year. He was a 1996 graduate of C.E. Byrd High School where he played the saxophone in the Jazz band. Gary was employed by Horseshoe Casino and valued the friends he made there. Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, C.A. (Benny) and Marie Benfield and G.W. (Gene) McKaskle. He is survived by his parents; grandmother, Lois McKaskle and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, family, friends and his beloved dogs, Maggie and Buddy.
