She married William S. Pollard on 14, 2006, who predeceased her on 4, 2007, She is survived by three sons, John Robert McIntosh II, Oak Grove, Louisiana;Thomas Calvin McIntosh and his wife, Kathy McIntosh, of Pioneer, Louisiana; Phillip Lee McIntosh and his wife, Dianne Jackson McIntosh of Ridgeland, Mississippi; daughter-in-law, Dianna McIntosh of Oak Grove, and two stepchildren, Kay Pollard Wallis of Denver, Colorado; and William S. Pollard, Jr., and his wife, Jan Pollard of Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by five grandchildren, John Robert Trey McIntosh III, and his wife, Julie of Oak Grove, Louisiana; Caskey Lee McIntosh Schexnyder, and husband. Brant Schexnyder of Ruston, Louisiana; Virginia Ann McIntosh, of Shreveport, Louisiana;Thomas Harris McIntosh of Pioneer, Louisiana, and JoBeth McIntosh of Ridgeland, Mississippi; and three grandchildren, Alyssa Dru McIntosh and Cullen Brown McIntosh of Oak Grove, Louisiana; and Stephen McIntosh Schexnyder of Ruston, Louisiana. Melba McIntosh was born 4, 1923, in Oak Grove, Louisiana to Wade Lee and Ada Moss Lee, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1940. She attended Louisiana Tech where she graduated in 1944 with a bachelors degree in education. She was a high school teacher from 1944 through 1949, teaching English and biology. She taught at Westlake High School, Westlake, Louisiana; Pioneer High School, Pioneer, Louisiana; Eudora High School, Eudora, Arkansas, and Oak Grove High School, Oak Grove, Louisiana. Mrs. McIntosh was active for many years in the West Carroll and Louisiana Farm Bureau. She served as First Vice Chairman of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Womens Committee, and from 1970 to 1983 she served as Chairman of the Womens Committee. During her term as chairman she served as a member of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Board of Directors. As the Womens Committee Chairman, she worked to promote youth education regarding agriculture and Americanism. Under her leadership, Louisiana Farm Bureau women became much more active in legislative affairs. She was well known for her effective legislative lobbying efforts on behalf of Louisiana Farm Bureau. She was popular among the legislators for her homemade cookies that she brought to legislative hearings. She often appeared at hearings to testify on legislative issues related to farming interests and to education and womens issues, particularly as related to sex education and the Equal Rights Amendment. Her testimony before the legislature was instrumental in obtaining passage of legislation to purchase a home for an abused womens shelter. While serving as Chairman of the Louisiana Farm Bureau, she served for 7 years on the American Farm Bureau Womens Committee. She was appointed by Governor Edwin Edwards to the Governors Commission on the Status of Women and served on that commission for several years. She was also active in Associated Country Women of the World, an international organization of rural and farm women focused on needs of rural women in developing countries. She served as USA Area Vice President for 3 years, and then for 3 years as Area President. She traveled extensively to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Southern Africa, and Morocco in connection with her work with the ACWW. She was an active member of Oak Grove First United Methodist Church for over 65 years, where she served as a School teacher (high school and adult women), a member of the Administrative Board, and Womens Missionary Society. She was a leader in the effort to obtain telephone service for rural areas of West Carroll Parish in the 1950s. Private family graveside services will be held 10 AM , 31, 2014 at Oak Grove in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM on , 30, 2014 at Cox in Oak Grove, Louisiana.
