Obituary: Clova (Skippy) McClure passed away on 24, 2015 at her home in Denham Springs at the age of 77. Skippys whole life was wrapped around her family. She loved spending time with her family and taking care of them and others. She never met a stranger. She took in anyone who would let her. She touched so many lives and always put others needs before her own. Memorial visitation will be at Seale in Denham Springs on May 3, from 2-4pm with a service/ celebration of her life from 4-5pm. Clova McClure was the daughter of Roy Stout and Alice Lauflin. Clova survived by her brothers Jack Stout and Glenn Stout, her son Jay H. Obituary: Clara Jean McClure, 81, of Lake Charles, passed away , 11, 2015 in Lake Charles. She was born 10, 1933 in Alto, LA to Dawson and Hazel Childress. She was married to Huey P. McClure for 62 years, who preceded her in death. Her parents, her brother, Douglas Childress and her sister, Louise Howard also preceded her in death. Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Carolyn C.J. Long and her husband, Glenn of LeBleu Settlement and Deborah Mouton and her husband, Dalton of Moss Bluff; two brothers, Carl Childress and Ronnie Childress both of Mangham, LA; three sisters, Marie Hicks of West Monroe, Betty Romero of Mangham and Tina Traxler of Rayville, LA; step sisters, Mary Robertson and Erma Burge of Winnsboro, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Clara was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since 1953. She taught school to 4 and 5 year olds for over 45 years. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A visitation will be , 12, 2015 from 5 to 9 pm at Hixson in Lake Charles. The funeral service will be , 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at the funeral home; the Rev. Tom Bruce will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles. Obituary: Mary McCrocklin McClung entered into her eternal rest on , 10, 2014 after her courageous battle with cancer. She was 59 years old native of Metairie, LA and resident of La Place, LA. Beloved wife of William Bill McClung; devoted and loving mother of Stanley McClung, David McClung (wife Anna), Michael McClung, and Rebecca Specht (husband Dustin). The most proud grandmother of Hannah and Athena. Daughter of the late Paxton and Patricia McCrocklin and sister of Ann Alderete, Cindy Catalano, Meg Trapani, and Erin Corona. She also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and family. Mrs. Mary was a passionate teacher at A.C. Alexander where she received the honor of being teacher of the year. She was an officer in the honorary teaching sorority ADK, Alpha Delta Kappa. As a long time parishioner of Ascension of Our Lord Church, she was proud of spreading the word of God to children through CCD director and liturgical reader for many years. She was honored the St. Louis Cathedral Award through the Arch Diocese of New Orleans. Mrs. Mary was an avid member with the Boy Scouts of America. She earned the St. George and Bronze Pelican Awards through her works with the Catholic Committee on Scouting. She was a member of the Chilantakoba Lodge of the Order of the Arrow. She devoted her life to helping children reach the goals and better their lives. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass at Our Lady of Divine Providence, 1000 N. Obituary: Herbert Clyde McClung was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on 12, 1938 and passed away 31, 2016 in Metairie Louisiana at the age of 78. Herbert was named after his mothers brother, Herbert and her father Clyde. Herb graduated from LSU Baton Rouge in 1960 where he was a member of the varsity baseball from 1958-1959. He graduated from the LSU Medical School in New Orleans in 1963. In 1963, Herb was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy and he did his internship at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. He served at the Antarctic Support Activity training in Davisville, R.I. Operation Deep Freeze and was appointment Officer in Charge and led the expedition at the Byrd Station located in Antarctica. Mount McClung, a mountain in the Sarnoff Range in Antarctica was named for and in honor of Lt. Herbert McClung (MC) USN, for his services in Antarctica. Herb also was aboard the USSBN Simon Bolivar, nuclear ballistic submarine based in Charleston, South Carolina. Herb completed his residency at the U.S. Navy Hospital, Oakland California in Anesthesiology. While in California, Herb completed a Fellowship in Open Heart Anesthesia, a Fellowship in Obstetrical Anesthesia and a Fellowship in Pediatrics Anesthesia. He served on the Anesthesia Staff for the U.S. Navy Hospital, Camp Lejeune in North Carolina and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1971. As a young boy, Herb had a pet raccoon named Rachel. He released her back into the wild when he left for college at LSU. He scouted for a home for her and would visit her in the wild while visiting home from college. He grew up with the nickname of Little Man but as he grew older the nickname just became Man! Herbs motto was school always came first and left in the middle of a no hitter game to complete school work for a test. Herb was intelligent, competitive, athletic and never mixed words. He was ambidextrous as he could work math problems with both hands in ink! He had a brilliant mind and set high standards for himself and others and didn suffer fools gladly. Upon retiring, Herb liked to travel and visit many of his family members and friends often surprising them at the door. He made Metairie his home base. Herb is now joined with his parents, Roy McClung and Thelma Davis McClung; his older brother, William McClung and older sister Lois Roy McClung. Herb will be missed and remembered by his daughter, Carolyn Carrie Marie Estell, two wonderful grandsons, Winston and Will in Maryland. He leaves behind his sister, Mitzi McClung Mauritz in Victoria, Texas. Uncle Herb was called by many: Willian Bo McClung from LaPlace, LA, Mindy Reed, Broussard, LA, Nils Mauritz, Ganado, TX, Madelyn Mauritz Bosse, Houston, TX, Kathy Fleming, Katy TX, and Pete Fleming, Spring, TX. He also had many great nieces and nephews. His Memorial and Remembrance Service will be at the Leitz-Eagan , 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie on , 12, 2017 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm with prayers being said at 4:00 pm.
