Obituary: Ruth Arlene Mosbey, age 81, of Albia passed away , 13, 2015, at her home in Albia surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born 26, 1933, in Lucas to Ray and Nina (Conner) Nickelson. She attended school in Chariton, graduating with the class of 1952. She married Jerry Mosbey on 26, 1954, at the First Christian Church Parsonage in Albia. To this union, two daughters were born, Rhonda Rae and Brenda Lee. In , Ruth and Jerry would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Ruths occupational experiences included working for a law firm, insurance companies and as a telephone operator. In 1959 she left the work force to begin her family, later to return part time as a bookkeeper and church secretary. Blessed with grandchildren, Ruth decided to give up working outside of the home to be a grandmother. Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church and Christian Womens Fellowship. As a young mother she found time to volunteer with the of Dimes, assisting with the implementation of Head Start and helping with the Lincoln Bond Issue; always looking out for the best interest of children. Ruth enjoyed helping Jerry with his woodworking, traveling, cooking and baking. She was a very talented seamstress and embroiderer. Ruth also loved attending the extracurricular activities of her daughters, grandchildren and eventually her great-grandchildren. She was their number one fan. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She delighted in her Christmas Bingo game, where you could win prizes ranging from her famous bread and butter pickles to socks. She beamed as she called out numbers and watched her grandchildren. were her real joy in life. Ruth delighted in teaching life lessons and continued to be a role model for her family as she battled cancer with dignity. Ruth is survived by her husband, Jerry, of Albia; two daughters, Rhonda Rae (Kerry) Kness of Norwalk and Brenda (Jim) Wynn of Albia; six grandchildren, Brynn (Colin) Eveland, Jordan Kness, Greg (Sara) Wynn, Sarah (Sean) Hollonbeck, Carrie Wynn, and Kevin Wynn; five great-grandchildren, Jace Leasure, Koltin and Maximus Wynn, Daphne Hollonbeck, and Kemper Eveland; four sister-in-laws, Gail Nickelson, Bonnie Hunt, Pat Mosbey, and Sandra Mosbey; and two brother-in-laws, Bill and Ben Mosbey. Ruth is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ray and Nina; two brothers, Lyle and Keith; a sister-in-law, Donna; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Hunt. services will be held at 11:00 a.m., , 18, 2015, at the First Christian Church in Albia, with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will follow services in Oak View in Albia. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. , 17, 2015, at the Tharp in Albia, with Ruths family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. An open memorial has been established in Ruths name. |
