Obituary: Charlie C. McDaniel, age 86 of ville, Iowa passed away , 11, 2015 at the Golden Age Skilled and Rehab in ville. He was born on the family farm in Wayne , Iowa on 23, 1928, the son of Theodore Wesley and Bessie B. (Coates) McDaniel. Charlie spent most of his youth growing up on the family farm. As a teenager, he held his first job at Pipers Grocery Store in Corydon, Iowa. Charlie was drafted into the United States Army on 26, 1951. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class on 15, 1957. He was first united in marriage to Mary Mumma in the late 1950s. Following her passing, he later married Carolyn Archer on May 27, 1998 in ville. Charlie eventually began employment with John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, working in the companys foundry. Through dedication and hard work, Charlie eventually worked on the assembly line at John Deere, assisting with tire production/replacement. In 1991, he retired from the corporation with over twenty five years of service. Charlie loved listening to country-western music. His passion for traditional country music led him on repeated trips to Nashville, Tennessee to experience the Grand Ole Opry concerts. Moreover, Charlie simply loved to travel in general. He also enjoyed spending his free time fishing. Most importantly, Charlie loved his family, especially his two step daughters, Penny and Joyce. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn McDaniel of ville, Iowa; three step children, Penny Schwenke of ville, Iowa, Joyce (Steve) Kalberer of Garden City, Kansas, and William Schwenke; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five siblings, Calvin (Wilda) McDaniel of Ankeny, Iowa, Dana Rodgers of ville, Iowa, Betty Ruff of Livingston, California, Rex (Nancy) McDaniel of Seymour, Iowa, and Flo (Dan) Vanskike of ville, Iowa; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary; four siblings, Ruby Stevens, Mary Sales, Martha Petrie, and Reva McDaniel; and a step daughter, Beverly Spinelli. services will be held at 1 PM, , 14, 2015 at Lange and Crematory in ville with Pastor Carol Iammatteo-Code officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral on at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn in Ottumwa, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been established to the Lords Appanoose Cupboard and may be mailed to Lange and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., ville, Iowa, 52544. Obituary: Charles Elmer McDaniel, 94, of Grinnell, died on , 26, 2015 at the Grinnell Regional Medical . A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m., , 31, 2015 at the Smith in Grinnell. Burial will be following in the Chester , north of Grinnell. Friends may call at the Smith from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., , 30, 2015 and the family will be present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., evening. Memorials may be directed to the Charles McDaniel Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith , PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Charles was born on 24, 1921, to San Teto and Phebe Ella (Morris) McDaniel in Grinnell, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Grinnell High School. He ventured out west to Salt Lake City, Utah. That is where he met the love of his life, Minnie Combes. On 25, 1945, he married Minnie in Salt Lake City. She blessed him with five daughters; JoAnn, Margaret, Sharon, Helen and Pauline. The couple worked in Salt Lake City for a short time, before moving to Miami, Florida for health reasons for Charles. moved back to Grinnell and he found work at Maytag in Newton. 31 years of working at Maytag, Charles retired at the age of 59. Charles and Minnie enjoyed fishing and hunting rabbit and pheasant. were always ready for a game of cards. He had a great passion for music and trains. You could always find Charles watching Wheel of Fortune or the Price is Right. He was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan. The greatest love of his life was his family. Watching his family grow always brought a smile to his face. To see his daughters grow up, have families of their own, his grandchildren have their families and his great grandchildren have families. Charles is survived by four daughters, JoAnn (Don) Danks of Kellogg, Margaret (Sam) Rebik of Gilman, Helen Panknen and Pauline (Jim) Nelson, both of Searsboro; one son-in-law, Kenny Miller of Belle Plaine; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Minnie, on 13, 2009; one daughter, Sharon Miller and three great grandchildren; Lydia Wisner, Heather Orr Wisner and Jayden Danks. |

She worked at Chamberlins in Albia and was a homemaker. She was a member of the V.F. W. Auxiliary & American Legion in Moravia, and a member of The Light of Life Church in Moravia. She was a 20 yr. member of the Moravia Fall Festival Committee, and coordinated the Moravia City Wide Rummage Sales for many years.
