Obituary: Georgetta Monical, 89, of North Wilkesboro, NC, formerly of Granite City, IL, and Evansville, passed away , 5, 2016, at her home in North Carolina. She was born 13, 1926, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Edward and Buena Vista (Cavis) Hayes. For 40 years she was a member of Suburban Baptist Church in Granite City, IL, before becoming a member of Sycamore Hills Baptist Church in Independence, MO. She grew up and was married in Howell Baptist Church in Evansville, IN and graduated from Reitz High School. Georgetta was involved with the Womens Mission Union and taught School and Vacation Bible School. Georgetta was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Monical; her parents; brothers, Robert and Laverne Hayes; and granddaughter, Alicia Tepfer. She is survived by her sons, Kent W. (Carol) Monical of Independence, MO and Blake R. Monical of CA; daughter, Laura A. (Richard) Megard of N. Wilkesboro, NC; grandson, Kyle D. Tepfer of Boone, NC; sister, Carolyn (Lowell) Harris of Campbellsville, KY; sister-in-law, Joyce Hayes of Hineston, LA; and several nieces and nephews. services were held 12:00 PM , 13, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Obituary: Agnes V. Monhaut, 88, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 8:30 a.m. , 12, 2016 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on 10, 1928 to the late Andrew and Mary (Horwarth) Kramer in South Bend, IN, and has been a lifelong resident. Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by a son, John Andrew Monhaut; five sisters, Marie Armstrong, Rose Wisniewski, Betty Horvath, Frances Prusinski, Kathryn Poczik; and four brothers, John, Andrew, Leo, and Joseph Kramer. Agnes retired in 1993, as an Office Manager, from the University of Notre Dame, after 23 years of employment. On 4, 1947, as Agnes V. Kramer, she married John D. Monhaut in South Bend, IN. He passed away on 28, 2003. Agnes is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Rick) Bauer of Niles, MI; Mary (Kip) Klute of South Bend, IN; six sons, Donald (Nan) Monhaut of Granger, IN; Edward (Debbie) Monhaut of South Bend, IN; Thomas (Roxann) Monhaut of Goshen, IN; Larry (Denise) Monhaut of Hastings, MN; Kevin Monhaut of South Bend, IN; Jeff (Jenny) Monhaut of Rolling Prairie, IN; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Agnes was a charter member of Corpus Christi Parish. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Agnes was an extraordinary cook, evident to all that enjoyed her legendary HoHo cake, apple pie and mashed potatoes; to name a few. She was also an avid sports enthusiast, and loved everything Notre Dame. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. , 16, 2016 at Kaniewski , 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. , 17, 2016 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with Rev. Obituary: Elza D. Mongold, 90, of Bloomington, IN passed away on , 9, 2015. He was born on 10, 1924 on a mountaintop farm near Mathias, West VA, the son of William and Maggie Whetzel Mongold. He went through the 8th grade in a one room school on the mountain and high school in Mathias. In 1943, Elza was drafted into the army, and after training in the U.S. he was shipped overseas and landed on the Anzio beachhead in Italy after it was established. He joined the 3rd Infantry Division as a replacement and was assigned to a light machine gun squad as an ammunition carrier. He fought in the breakout from Anzio and through the bloody advance up Italy to Rome. Rome, his division was trained for the amphibious landing in southern France where they landed near St. Tropez on 15, 1944, and fought their way north to Strasbourg. He participated in heavy fighting near the Colmar pocket and a lot of intense fighting in France where he was wounded twice but soon returned to combat after each wound. He also received a battlefield promotion to sergeant in France. His division then crossed the Rhine, fought through southern Germany, and took Nuremberg in intense house to house fighting where his platoon took numerous casualties. Before going on to capture Munich, he was promoted a Staff Sergeant. the war Elza returned home, went to Coyne Electrical School in Chicago for six months, and then returned home where he courted and married Lucille Dove on 16, 1948. From there, he went to TV Electronics School in Louisville for two years and was hired by the Bloomington RCA plant after graduation where he came to be known by the name Steve. Both he and Lucille were supervisors until he retired in 1986. In the years after retirement, they would eat regularly with friends from RCA at the American Legion. Elza was devoted to his wife Lucille, his son Greg, his grandsons Jonathan and Paul, and also spent a lot of time with the extended Martin family in Bloomington. Elza and Lucy would return every summer for family reunions in Virginia and West Virginia. He taught his son and grandsons outdoorsman skills by taking them camping, hunting, fishing and hiking. Elza enjoyed woodworking and was handy with tools and could fix almost anything. He was exceptionally proud of his service in WWII. Elza is survived by his daughter-in-law Linda Mongold, grandsons Jonathan and Paul, sister Lola See of Broadway, VA, brother Armon Mongold of Winchester, VA, and Nona Pauley of Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucile Dove Mongold, son Gregory Mongold, parents William and Maggie Wetzel Mongold, sisters Lethia Whetzel and Wardella Cook, and brothers Wayne Mongold and William (Junior) Mongold. services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., , 15, 2015 at Day and Deremiah-Frye , 4150 East Third Street. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens where the Monroe Honor Guard will perform military rites.
