Obituary: Charles J. Myler, 83, of Aurora, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on 6, 2015. He was born on 20, 1931 in Ottawa, Illinois, to John Myler and Mary Hart Myler. graduating from Ottawa High School at the age of 16, he attended undergraduate school at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. It was there that he developed his love of philosophy under the guidance of his uncle, the Right Reverend Monsignor Charles Hart, for whom he was named. graduating from Catholic U, he obtained his law degree at Georgetown University Law School, also in Washington, D.C. Charlie became very interested in politics in general and the Democratic Party in particular while studying at Georgetown and running an elevator in the Senate Office Building. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1955. receiving his law degree in 1955, Charlie was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was chosen to be a member of the Counter Intelligence Corps and was sent to study Romanian at the Army Language School at the Presidio in Monterey, California. eight months there he was sent to Nuremburg, Germany during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and spent two years working in refugee camps aiding refugees from behind the Iron Curtain. Upon his discharge from the Army in 1958 he came to Aurora to practice law with the firm of Sears & Streit. In 1960 he joined Clarence J. Ruddy to form the firm of Ruddy & Myler. Clarences retirement in 1985 Charlie became the senior partner in the firm known as Myler, Ruddy (Philip) & McTavish (Alex), along with partner Richard G. Larsen. For most of his career he practiced civil litigation and later concentrated his practice on Chapter 11 reorganizations under United States Bankruptcy Laws. He greatly enjoyed helping small businesses emerge from financial difficulties. He was appointed to the United States Bankruptcy Court Panel of Interim Trustees in 1978 and served in that capacity until 2013 when he retired. Charlie enjoyed many activities as a young man, particularly Alpine skiing and owning and piloting his own private planes. He also collected fine art and fine wines. He had a great knowledge of and appreciation for classical music and supported many musical organizations. He and Kay greatly enjoyed world travel during their marriage. When Charlies daughter, Jennifer, was born in 1971 with Down Syndrome, he co-founded the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association with fellow Fox Valley Park District trustee Bob Stuart. He served on the Special Rec board for over 30 years, serving as president several times. He was appointed to the Fox Valley Park District board of trustees in 1978, serving on that board for 30 years and as its president for one term. He also served on the Fox Valley Park District Foundation board until his death. In 1975 Charlie was the driving force behind the formation of the Illinois Developmental Disabilities Advocacy Authority, a group dedicated to the rights of persons with disabilities. He served on that board until it was absorbed into the present Illinois Department of and Human Services. He was a member of the Kane , Illinois, and American Bar Associations. He was licensed to practice before the Illinois and Federal Courts. For over 30 years he was the moderator of the annual Kane Bar Associations memorial service for deceased members of the local Bar. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kay, his daughters, Jennifer of Aurora and Kathe (Mark) Makoui, and his granddaughters, Hannah Roze and Sarah Abigail Makoui, all of Montgomery, his sister, Mary Margaret Russo of Rhinebeck, NY, one niece and five nephews, 18 great-nephews and great-nieces, his first cousin, the Hon. William T. Hart of Chicago, first cousin Denis Hart of St. Louis, his stepchildren, Richard Gee, Jon Gee (Becky), and Diane Gee Taylor (Tim), by step-grandchildren, Adam Gee, Damon Dombeck and Dylan Dombeck, his mother-in-law, Wilma Stark, and by his brother-in-law, John Stark (Yanzi). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Rocco Russo. |

Obituary: Juanita Belle Myland (nee Sivak), 92 of Aurora, IL passed away on May 27, 2009 at Provena Mercy Medical surrounded by her loving family. She was born 9, 1917 in Vermillion , Indiana to the late Andy and Pearl Sivak. She married her husband, the late John L. (Jack) Myland, on 9, 1934. were together for 54 years. The couple resided in Chicago following their marriage. In 1963, they moved from Chicago to North Aurora, where she resided for the next 40 years. For the last several years, she lived at The Constitution House in Aurora, IL. She was an active member of Faith Baptist Church of Aurora and was strong in her faith. She worked for many years at Portable Electric Tool in Geneva, before retiring. She was a former member of the Batavia Moose. The big love in her life was her family and quilting. She was a member of numerous quilting clubs over the years, many of which she helped found. She leaves behind many family members who love her and will miss her. Survivors include: a son John R (Sonia) Myland of Donna, TX; a daughter Janice (Charles) Olson of Orland Park, IL; and another son Mick (Linette) Myland of Spring Grove, IL; 7 grandchildren: Jeff (Laurie) Myland of Yorkville, IL; Donna (Jeff) Nettleton of Fairview Heights, IL; Keith (Lori) Olson of Seattle, WA; Lisa (Tony) Sarzynski of Frankfort, IL; Lyn (Brian) Hogan of Schaumburg, IL; Andy Myland of Spring Grove, IL; and Rachel Myland of Spring Grove, IL;13 great grandchildren: Lindsay (Nate) McCalmont ; Jessica, Jennifer, Julie and Michael Myland; Kristin and Daniel Nettleton; Ben, Will and Andrew Olson; Jack and Janelle Sarzynski; and Lucas Hogan. She also leaves behind one great-great-grandchild: Alexander McCalmont, a surviving sister Mary Camfield of Tampa, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters: Evelyn Herr and Maxine Bonaguro, and one brother Eugene Sivak. The family will be receiving guests at a visitation at The Healy Chapel, 332 W.
