Obituary: Bruce A. MacDonald passed away on 6, 2016. He is predeceased by his father Shadrach M. MacDonald, his mother Mary Howes MacDonald (nee Kelley) and sister Lois Walk. He graduated from Tufts University Class of 1943 and proudly served our Country in WWII with the US Navy aboard the USS Sederstrom. He saw action in the Pacific Theatre. He leaves behind his sons Alan B. MacDonald (Pat) of FL, Graham W. MacDonald of CT, granddaughter Elizabeth MacDonald, grandson Jonathan A. MacDonald, daughter Suzanne MacDonald Fratus (David) of CA, his step-son John Tillitson (Paula) and many grandchildren. Bruce devoted his life in service to others. A celebration will be held at Sunland Memorial Park & Mortuary on , 10, 2016. Visitation and reception begins at 8 a.m. with service to follow at 9 a.m. Interment will be private. A special thanks to Susan Hunt of Childers & Berg, caregivers at D & L in Peoria and Lakeview Methodist Church. Obituary: On 26th we said a final goodbye to our oldest brother Allan. Please indulge us as, outside of this writing, there will be no long obituaries or great fanfare for his passing, as he lived much of life on the fringes of society. It would seem odd that after years of fighting end stage liver disease his passing would come as a shock, but it did for us all. As with many of his entrances and exits throughout his life, the final exit today was unexpected in both its timing and suddenness. At 61 years old, whether it was a life well-lived is for others to decide. His choices in life led him outside the law, at times, and away from the family. There was a day when his younger brothers wanted to be just like him and days where they swore to never be anything like him. Allan was both charming and ruthless. He was intelligent and cunning. Allan was funny but very shrewd. He was selfish and yet had moments of great generosity. He was a convicted felon and born again Christian. He had an innate ability to teach and advise, but equally an inability to be advised. He was extremely well read, especially in the legal and medical fields, yet he led a life of self-destruction. As adults, we all struggled with whether we loved him, hated him, worried about him or pitied him. At some point, all were probably true. However, this past year we were all able to reconcile those feelings and, as a family, welcome Al back to share in our lives. Heavy or not, he was always our brother! It was refreshing to see the joy he got from meeting our kids and being a big brother and uncle again. At the same time there was a profound sadness in his recognition of what he had given away for a good portion of his life. It was family, especially our brother Dan MacDonald, which kept him going the past 12 months. We hope everyone is as lucky as we are to have someone like Dan on our side. He is the best of us! At any rate, with his illness as serious as it was, we knew this day would come. We talked a lot about death and we know he was able to go out on his terms. He said recently that he had been an ass for most of his life, and that he didn't want to die an ass. Well big brother, you didn't die an ass! You fought a great fight! You gave all you had until there was no more to give! No more regrets, no more pain. All was and is forgiven. Mom and Dad have been waiting patiently for you to come home, so go in peace big brother. You guys have a lot of catching up to do! |

Obituary: Elizabeth (Betty) Ann MacCleary, 81, A native of Phoenix, Arizona passed into the hands of her Lord 7th 2014. Betty, daughter of Levi Howard Erb Jr. and Helen Burns Taylor was born on May 24, 1933. Betty passed peacefully into eternal life surrounded by her family. She is survived by her three children, Mark (Linda), Kent (Margaret) and Pamela, her five grandchildren Nicole Price (Travis), Meghan, Morgan, Brittne and Brian, two great grandchildren Landon and Madden. Betty was extremely proud and excited to become "Meemaw" when she witnessed the birth of her first grandchild (Nicole) 29 yrs, ago and was every day since. Betty was a very active member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and Ladies Oriental Shrine. She was an avid bowler, card player, loved to play bingo & video poker and attended ASU football games with friends for years. She was a true Christian in action, always giving and helping others any way she could. Spending time and caring for family and friends was first priority. She left us with lots of wonderful memories and will be greatly missed. Her memory is held dear by all those that knew her. Visitation will be , 20, 2014 from 6:00-8:00PM at A.L.
