Obituary: Mrs. Ruth Paige Meeks, age 88, of Toccoa passed away 12, 2014 at Athens Regional Hospital. Born 3, 1926 in Easley, SC, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Lona Ellard Paige. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Alvin Meeks. She was a member of Old Toccoa Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Meeks loved cooking for her family, shopping and doing word search puzzles. She also enjoyed eating at Hardees where she would visit with her friends. Family members include daughter, Kathy Thompson; sons Jeffery and Gary Meeks; granddaughters, Lisa Moore and husband Doug, and Lori Means and husband Alan; a grandson, Jonathon Meeks and wife Kala; six great grandchildren; special friends, Ramona Baird, Tommy Fields, Dave and Sharon Tate, and Sue Porter; her dog, Skipper; sisters-in-law, Linda Williams and Jeanette Martin; and several nieces and nephews. services will be held at two oclock , 16, 2014 at Old Toccoa Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Thomas, the Rev. Bill Evans, and the Rev. Frank Bearden officiating. Burial will follow at Old Toccoa Baptist Church . The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Dave Tate, Alan Means, Jonathon Meeks, Stacy Gunn, Doug Moore, and Jim Ledford. The Sallie Richards School Class, Kenny Scott and Michael Sosebee will serve as honorary pallbearers and will meet at the church at 1:40 . The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm and . Flowers are optional. Those desiring may make memorials to the Old Toccoa Baptist Church. Mrs. Meeks was born in Bacon , Georgia to the late George and Sarah Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Stanford Meeks and one brother. Mrs. Meeks was a loving mother and grandmother, homemaker and was retired from Hatcher Milling in Macon. She was of the Baptist faith.
