Obituary: MEEK, JOHN HARRISON 14, 1921 - 25, 2016, World War II Veteran, Georgia Tech graduate, devoted husband and father. Mr. Meek was predeceased by his first wife, Edith Crews Meek; son, Ryan Meek; brothers, James Meek and Richard Meek; sister, Frances Wilson, and parents, James and Myra Meek. He is survived by his second wife, Jane Ownbey Meek, Decatur; sister Myra (Linwood) Zoller, Gainesville; son, Vance R. (Betty) Meek, Salisbury, NC; daughters, Rhonda (Wylie) Quillian, Peachtree City, Cathy Keeney, Sandy Springs; Janes children, Joseph (Amy) Ownbey, Tucker, Patricia (Daniel) Tamez, Rowlett, TX, and Diane (Gilbert) Cribb, Suwanee; grandchildren, Marie (Will) Daehn, Daniel (Micah) Quillian. Matthew (Beth) Quillian; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Eli Quillian and Talia Daehn, and nieces and nephews. He was born in Austell, GA, where his father worked as a businessman and Baptist pastor. Mr. Meek graduated from High School in Gainesville, GA. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for almost four years with the Greatest Generation, including serving in the European Theatre as 1st Lieutenant leading an Ammunition . returning home from the service, he completed his education. He worked in Sales & Marketing for several companies and retired from Commonwealth Aluminum in 1986. A Christian and a lifelong Baptist, Mr. Meek served faithfully in different roles, including teaching School. He played the piano in s for Prime Notes, a church volunteer choir. Special thanks to devoted caregiver, Franco Casimir, to Visiting Angels, and to family and friends, for their love and support during Mr. Meeks final years. services will be held , 28. at 2:00 pm.at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church, Decatur, GA, where Mr. Meek has been a long-time member, with Rev. Larry Burgess and Rev. Fred Pitts officiating. The family will receive friends at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church at 1:00 pm preceding the funeral service. Interment at Floral Hills , Tucker, GA. Obituary: Mrs. Virginia Katherine Meehan, 85, of Woodstock, GA, passed away 1, 2014. She was born on May 27, 1929 in Sommerville, TN to the late Charlie and Johnnie Pattat. She is a graduate of Fayette High School. On 2, 1951 (Groundhog Day), Virginia married the love of her life, Leonard. While her husband served in the Marine Corps, they lived many different places. In 1965, they moved to Tucker, GA and then settled in Woodstock in 1980. Virginia also enjoyed a career as an accountant with the IRS. She was very active in the First Baptist Church of Woodstock. Virginia taught school and volunteered in the Clothes Closet. She was a very devout Christian. She made everyone who met her feel loved and was known as Grandma by all. Virginia leaves behind her husband, Leonard B. Meehan, daughter, Linda Ledbetter (Rick), sons, Tom Meehan (Teresa) and Ron Meehan (Arlene), 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and sister, Ann Neal Fowler. A funeral service will be held on , 5, 2014 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock, chapel. Interment will follow at Georgia National . The family will receive friends on , 4, 2014 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Woodstock . The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff at Weinstein Hospice and The One Group for their compassionate and dedicated care. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on , 6, 2014 from 12:30 p.m. till 2:30 p.m. Mrs. Meehan, daughter of the late Ernest James Collins and Emmie Alice Downing Collins, was born 24, 1934 in Columbus. She was a faithful member of Bethel Tabernacle Assembly of God, Columbus and had worked at Matthews Dress Shop on Wynnton Road for over 25 years before retiring. Mrs. Meehan was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was such a gracious and compassionate lady. Friends and family will miss her sweet smile, positive attitude, and her delicious banana pudding and pecan pies. Married for 60 years, he was a giving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Meehans hobbies included watching Falcon Football, working in his yard, and writing stories both humorous and poignant. He was a devoted member of Bethal Tabernacle, serving as a deacon and entertaining the children as Santa. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Louise Collins Meehan; brothers, Frank Meehan, James Meehan; sisters, Helenita Robinson, and Peggy Meehan. Obituary: Elizabeth Bette Belcher Meeder, of Roswell, GA passed away peacefully on , May 4, 2017. She was born to the late Marianne (Yates) Belcher and John T. Belcher on 16, 1931. Bette attended New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC where she grew up most of her life. She enjoyed ballet and tap dancing in her mothers dance studio. Some of Bette`s most fond memories were trips with her mother and other dance students to New York City where they performed big shows and recitals She moved to Atlanta in 1969 with her late husband Richard Dick Meeder where she soon became very involved in the local community. Bette was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Associates where she worked tirelessly on fundraising projects including the Decorators Show House. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and worked in various positions around the city such as Atlanta Convention Planners, promoting Atlantas scenic attractions and local landmarks. Bette attended and was very involved at Roswell Presbyterian Church. She often helped decorate the church for Christmas and also delivered flowers for ones going through difficulties. Bette also loved and cherished her Bible study group She enjoyed her time gardening, having dinner with family and friends, dancing, and listening to big band and jazz music. She could often be seen at Cafe 290 enjoying Joe Gransdens Big Band or at Seasons 52 sitting at the piano bar. Bette was a genuine people person. She had a knack for meeting someone and instantly becoming friends for life. Bette is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dick Meeder, her two brothers, John Belcher and Julian Belcher. She is survived by her sons Scott (Mary Beth) Meeder and Richard Meeder, II, a granddaughter Elizabeth Meeder and two grandsons, Richard (Kelly) Meeder, III, and Matthew Meeder.
