Obituary: Mrs. Lorene Lord McWhorter, age 90 of Marietta, passed away 24, 2011. Born in Fulton , Georgia , Mrs. McWhorter grew up and attended school in Bolton. She retired from Lockheed Aircraft after 33 years of service, a loyal member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. retirement she devoted time working with MUST Ministries of Marietta, and she was a certified Lay Speaker for United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her son, Walter Charles Chuck Power. She is survived by her daughters, Louise Power Davey (husband, Roland L. Davey) of Forest City, NC, and Lauta Power Gangis (husband, Aivars J. Gangis) of Halethorpe, MD; grandsons, William Leonard Davey and wife Leslie, of Midlothian, VA, and Kenneth Lee Davey and wife Allena, of Forest City, NC; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held , May 6, at 10:00 AM at Georgia Memorial Park . Obituary: James Lee McWhorter, age 74, of 509 Birch River Drive, Dahlonega, died , 17, 2016, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. Born in Unadilla, he was the son of the late James Henry McWhorter and Jewell Adams McWhorter. He was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from Robins Air Force Base. Mr. McWhorter was a member of Line Baptist Church, was an avid golfer and loved supporting the Georgia Bulldogs. Survivors include: Wife: Sharon M. McWhorter of Dahlonega Daughters: Debra M. Goodroe (John Robert) of Unadilla Felicia M. Rigsby (Steve) of Byromville Step Son: Craig Adams (Jaclyn) of Atlanta Grandchildren: Felicia Stossell (Richie) David Darsey Genie Williams (Leroy) Step Grandchildren: Hamilton Adams Brooks Adams Great Grandchildren: Sarah Eastridge Makenna Williams Hunter Williams services will be at 3 PM , 20 in Line Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Obituary: A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM , 19, 2016 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Rhine, GA with the Rev. Bob y officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until 5 PM at Snows Memorial Chapel on Pio Nono Avenue. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Harlean Williamson McWhorter. Children: Bobalean McWhorter Rush, James Andrew McWhorter and Janna McWhorter. Granddaughter, Elizabeth Ashley Rush Pugh (Joshua). Brother Autry McWhorter, Brother In Law, Terry Williamson, Son In Law, David Rush and many nieces and nephews. Preceded by their son Bobby James McWhorter, Jr. His parents Ethel Mae and Lawson McWhorter, Sister Dorothy Lovett and brothers Shelton and Harold McWhorter. His abilities and talents included great physical strength. He could build a room, cook a meal of many courses, repair plumbing and wiring, and lets not forget drop a VW engine in minutes. He worked in the Vending business in both Atlanta and Macon. He worked at Wal-Mart and Convenience Stores. His last public job was at Lowes. He loved to figure out how things worked and would take them apart whether you wanted him to or not. The last 10 or so years Daddy was James caregiver, we learned from the best, and we all will continue to honor him. Seldom did he miss a service at Parkway Baptist Church. He never judged others and would do what he could to lend a hand. He loved to fish, tell fish tales and fry them to perfection. He would even pick them off the bone for us. He never met a stranger, loved to talk and wouldn or couldn forget a face. Bobby was raised in Wilcox and graduated from Rochelle High School. Daddy made the dash matter.
