Obituary: Reverend Robert Chase Lane was born to G. r Lane and Susan Chase Lane on 23, 1925 in Milford, NH. Bob Lane grew up in Torrington, Connecticut as a ministers son with his 4 siblings (Charlotte, Cynthia, George and Susan). He spent summers with his extended family near Brunswick, Maine at Merepoint where he roamed the shore and sailed the waters with friends and relations. He loved a good race and a good read about boating. He majored in math at Amherst (49) until the outbreak of WWII when he enlisted and spent two years in the army. He was stationed in Japan during the declaration of peace time. Following graduation from Amherst he decided to train for the ministry at the Hartford Seminary where he met his two closest friends: Bill Inderstrodt and Fidelia Augur. marrying Fidie, they spent a summer together in North Dakota working with children through churches on Native American reservations. Bob was ordained in 1952 and served as a minister in Baraboo, Wisconsin, where his children Bill and Becky, were born. In 1957, his second parish was in North Branford, CT, where Janet was born. In 1967 to 1990 he was Pastor in Enfield, CT for the United Church of Christ Congregationalist Church, where he was made Pastor Emeritus after retiring. He was also active in the Hartford Seminary Alumni Association. Bob was a good listener and a wise counselor whether in a pastoral setting, with a friend, or doing committee work. He was Director of the founding board of the North Central District and Mental District of Connecticut and a Paul Harris Fellow in the Enfield Rotary Club. He facilitated respectful decision making within his congregation and in ecumenical settings. He was not afraid to stand up for what he thought was just and fair. He supported reproductive rights, and the rights of conscientious objectors. retiring, he moved to Windsor, CT and became an active member in the First Church of Windsor, where he urged his UCC denomination to welcome LGBT individuals. He was a leader in the process of encouraging 30 Connecticut churches to earn the title of Open and Affirming. Bob welcomed fun and he served as the Dean for church summer camps including one on board a sailboat. Bob enjoyed sailing, reading, stamp collecting, light carpentry, camping with his family, playing with his grandchildren (Anna, Toby and Robin), and traveling. He welcomed any opportunity to share his gregarious kindness while serving as a member of his community. He was with his family in Maine reading and chatting on the porch days before he returned to his retirement home in Cromwell, CT where he died peacefully in his sleep in his 90th year of a very full life. He leaves two daughters, Rebecca Lane Keefe and her husband David of Seal Cove, ME and Janet Lane and her husband David Armstrong of Lexington, MA; a daughter-in-law, Susan Wortman of Sleepy Hollow, NY; two sisters, Cynthia Ellis of Orono, ME and Susan Scavo of Friend, NE; and three grandchildren, Anna Rose Keefe, Toby Armstrong, and Robin Armstrong. Besides his wife, Fidelia (Augur) Lane, he was predeceased by a son, William Lane; a brother, George Lane; and a sister, Charlotte Mack. A memorial service will be held , 22, 2016, at 11 a.m., at the First Church in Windsor, UCC, 107 Palisado Ave, Windsor, CT. Burial will be private. Obituary: Rev. Fidelia A. Lane, 89, of Cromwell, beloved wife of Rev. Robert Lane, passed away peacefully on , 6, 2016. Born in Davao, Mindanao, Philippines to the late Julius and Gertrude (Elmer) Augur, she earned her bachelors degree from Mt. Holyoke and her Masters of Divinity from Hartford Theological Seminary. Fidelia worked as a Minister of Religious Education in The Enfield Congregational Church from 1969 to 1978 and as a Minister of Metropolitan Mission for the CT Conference of the United Church of Christ form 1977 to 1984. She served the Conference as a state lobbyist for reproductive rights and an advocate for public education. She also served as a Minister of Communication and as the editor of the paper CONNtact for nine years. She was elected to the Windsor Board of Education and was President of League of Women Voters, a Board Member of Citizens for a United Windsor and Co-Chair for Citizens Alliance for Public Education, where she received the Bridge-Builder Award from the Citizens of a United Windsor. Fidelia enjoyed her cats, gardening, painting and cooking, but her true passion was her dedication to making the world a better place. She was a lifelong activist known for her optimism and hard work and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Besides her husband Robert Lane of Cromwell, she is survived by her daughters Becky Keefe and her husband David of Seal Cove, ME, and Janet Lane and her husband David Armstrong of Lexington, MA; her daughter-in-law Susan Wortman of Sleepy Hollow, NY; and her grandchildren Anna Rose Keefe and Toby and Robin Armstrong. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son William Lane and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM , 11, 2016 at the First Church in Windsor, Congregational, 107 Palisado Ave, Windsor. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Obituary: Maryellen Lane, age 60, of Clinton passed away on , 10, 2014 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was the beloved wife of Richard A. Lane. Maryellen was born in the Bronx, New York on 28, 1954 the daughter of the late John T. Seibert, Sr. and Mary (Callaghan) Seibert. Maryellen and Rich were married in Old Saybrook on 22, 1991 and have been residents of Clinton since 2000. Besides her husband she leaves her daughter, Sherri Ann Moran of Middletown, her sisters, Lynn Pearson and Patricia Barber both of Old Saybrook, her brothers, Robert Seibert of Colchester and John T. Seibert, Jr. of Pennsylvania, her grandson, Michael Hall of Middletown and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on , 14, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer , 34 Main Street in brook.
