Obituary: Loren was a loving husband to Leonora, a great dad to Vicki and Bob, grandfather to Vanessa, Joe, Brian, and Brad, and great-grandfather to Jayden, Christopher and Rosie. He was a good man, a gentle man, and he lived his life doing the right thing. He was honest, ethical, and dependable. When he gave his word you could count on it. And he modeled these qualities not by talking about them, but by living them. Loren was very hard-working. For most of his career, he got up before dawn to drive to Boulder to his job as a quality engineer. Quality was the perfect profession for him-he was dedicated to making sure things were done right. He had the skills and care of a true craftsman. He didn like to throw things away just because they were broken, and he could creatively find a way to give new life to something seemingly unfixable. When he was finished, it was often better than new. And when he created something new, it was carefully planned and often over-designed so it would last. Loren seemed always to be working around the house, maybe too much, and rarely took a break. He took pride in a well-kept yard, and he liked to raise tomatoes and roses. Somehow, he seemed the most content when he was busy. He used to say that he was happiest when he was behind the wheel of a car. He had a natural feel for an automobile, effortless and fluid. As a teenager, he and his friends would pile into his Model T, build up as much speed as possible, and race up a local hill until the car couldn go further. It is easy to imagine the look of delight on his face. He liked cars with big engines, and sometimes just had to low out the cobwebs by romping the accelerator to the floor for that rush of acceleration. He truly loved to drive, and fortunately was able to continue until late in life. Loren loved to go camping and fishing. He helped his family enjoy this love of the mountains together in their Bronco. spent almost every weekend for many summers four wheeling together, escaping the heat of the city to cross rivers and meadows and climb shelf roads to explore abandoned mines and ghost towns. He was a stubborn Swede, didn talk that much, but when he did he could tell interesting stories of days gone by. He was known for his slow pace while eating, loved anything with shrimp, and always had a bowl of nuts at his side. He was a man of simple tastes and needs, never flashy. His only vices were an infrequent cigar and desserts, especially pie, ice cream, or a root beer float. He treated his family with respect and trust, he was there when you needed him, and he created a home that was stable, secure, and safe. Loren was a good man, and we miss him. Obituary: Lee was a loving wife to Loren, and a wonderful mother to Vicki and Bob, and grandmother to Vanessa, Joe, Brian and Brad. She was an easy person to like, and just her presence alone made people happy. She had a smile that could light up a room. She was one of those rare people who truly listen, and could make you feel special, as if you were the only person in the room. Lee was a generous and selfless person, putting others needs before her own. She was decent and thoughtful, consistently doing what was right instead of what was easy. She set high standards for herself and others, including school and music and career. Do your best meant more than just just give it your best shot. It meant truly work hard and do the best you are capable of, and then see how things work out-both inspirational and forgiving. She made sure our home was a safe and secure and loving place. She loved to cook, and is remembered for her beautiful and delicious meals. She made sure we all had a healthy breakfast each day before work and school, and that we ate dinner together as a family. These are rare things these days. Despite some difficult life experiences, including losing her parents as a young woman, she never complained, and shared her positive outlook with the people around her. She was supportive, and friends sought her out for a friendly and interested ear to share worries with. She was always proper, especially in treating others with respect, but she also had a fun and silly sense of humor. She was a strong but gentle woman who loved flowers (especially roses), chocolate, coffee, barbeque ribs, and reading about history. It is hard to even begin to describe this very special person, but the memories of her will live on in the people whom she impacted in her generous life. We miss you!
