Obituary: John Derrel Love was born in 1934 and passed away on 30, 2015 at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Love. John was born in Balko, Oklahoma to his parents, John and Ethel Love, and he had five sisters and one brother. John grew up in Balko, OK, then moved to Los Angeles as a young man. In 1969 he married Kathryn Bostich. He and Kathryn met in Los Angeles, and they lived over twenty-five years of their married life at their home in Redondo Beach. they retired in 1995, John and Kathryn moved to San Juan Capistrano, where they resided for twenty years in the San Juan Hills community. John worked in construction as a sheet metal worker, and was employed by the Department of Water and Power for many years. During his career, his work experiences included travel to many parts of California, including construction on several oil islands off the California coast. Johns interest in construction extended to his personal life. He enjoyed working on his own property, and completed a beautiful remodel of his kitchen in Redondo Beach, as well as updating and maintaining his home in San Juan Capistrano. John also loved baseball and travel. retirement, he and Kathryn were able to make several trips to Europe and Hawaii. A devoted Angels fan, John attended baseball games with his sister-in-law Helen. During retirement, he and Kathryn would have a daily routine of working around their home and garden, then going out for lunch and a walk. An avid walker, John was well known and liked by his neighbors in the San Juan Hills community. He was a kind, approachable man, and children would often come up to him to ask him to play with them. John was a treasured and caring husband, family member, brother to his sisters, and friend to many. John was devoted to his wife Kathryn, and he was her best friend and partner for over forty-six years. While he and Kathryn did not have children of their own, they had close relationships with their extended family members, and nieces and nephews would visit and sometimes stay with them during summer vacation. John also provided care and support for his sister Lenore in her later years. John faced the health issues at the end of his life with the same calmness and dignity that he lived his life, and he was supported and cared for during his illness by his wife Kathryn, sister and brother in-law Zora and Peter, and niece Alexandra. John was a wonderful listener with an equally wonderful gentle sense of humor. While John was not one to talk about himself, it was a privilege to hear his stories about growing up in Oklahoma, his family, baseball, and his work experiences. He lived his life well - with dignity, love, care, hard work, and kindness. John will be sorely missed by his wife, family, and friends. |

Obituary: Pebble Beach, California- John passed away at home with his loving son and caregiver at his side on 16, 2014. Born in Brighton, Sussex, England, John was fully educated in England, joined the Royal Marines (1945 - 1949) and was appointed to The Gordon Highlanders with a rank of Captain. John held many positions in the hospitality industry with the Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park and the Arizona Biltmore, Phoenix, Arizona among his favorites. His passions were golf, horses, fly-fishing, and yes, needlepoint, all of which brought him tremendous pleasure. But his true passion was Nancy, his loving wife of 51 years. John was a member of the Cypress Point Golf Club in Pebble Beach since 1972 and was president from 1991 through 1997. He was also president of the United States Pony Club. He and wife Nancy opened up the J Bar L Dude Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and later owned the Lobos Lodge in Carmel, California. Survived by loving wife Nancy; sons Scott Love and Pete (Jeanne) Horner; nieces Jane Tasse, Ann Thompson Hill, Sara Gay, Mary Ann Macalpine, Virginia Brown, Elisabeth Richardson and Franchesca Wheller and nephew Simon Love. Per Johns wishes there will be no service but the family would appreciate any donations to the charity of your choice. |
