Obituary: Petronilo Ledesma passed away surrounded by his loving family on , 20, 2015, at his home in Las Lomas. He was 98 and would have been 99 on May 2. A native of Terlingua, Texas, he moved to Arizona in 1938 and to California in 1950, settling in the southern Santa Clara area. In 1959 he moved to Las Lomas, where he remained until his death. Mr. Ledesma worked in agriculture while in Santa Clara , and when he moved to Watsonville he began working at Cara Mia Artichokes and remained there for 17 years, retiring at the age of 80 as the Maintenance Foreman. Mr. Ledesma loved to sing and was a master guitar player, entertaining family and friends at every opportunity. He also loved working on his farm. Whether it was chopping wood, repairing equipment, or pruning his trees, he did it all. Mr. Ledesma leaves his sons, Mario, Jesse, and Manuel Ledesma; daughters, Tomasa Monroy, Nida Ledesma, Virginia Lerma, Margie Perez, Carmen Sanchez, and Louisa Ledesma; numeral grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the last of his siblings. Mr. Ledesma is preceded in death by his wife Anita in of this year, son, Robert, and daughter, Elida. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Mehls Colonial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated , 1:00 p.m., at Church of the Assumption. Burial will follow at Valley Public . |

Obituary: Mario Ledesma passed away at a hospital in San Jose on , 8, 2016. He was 68. Mario was born to Petronilo and Anita Ledesma in Tolleson, Arizona and moved to the Watsonville area in 1958. He attended Gilroy High School and was drafted into the Army after graduating. He was deployed to fight in Vietnam War and served from 1967-1969. During his service he achieved the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and received his Combat Infantrymans Badge. Mario was a hardworking man but also was the life of the party. He worked for Dole Food for 36 years; the last 20 years as a truck driver. He also liked working on cars, especially the classics, and building things from wood. He loved cooking, going to flea markets, fishing, listening to oldies music and having BBQs with his family and friends. He also loved traveling down to Arizona and the Southern States. Mario was a kind and caring person. Whatever he had, he would give it generously, even to his last dollar. Mario also was a man of strong faith and was a believer in Jesus Christ and Mary. Mario is survived by his children, Albert Ledesma of Salinas, Elizabeth Ledesma and Terry (Ernie) Ledesma both of El Centro; siblings, Jesse Ledesma of Watsonville, Tonia Monroy of Prunedale, Nida Ledesma and Margie Perez both of Gilroy, Virginia Lerma and Carmen Sanchez of Salinas and Luisa Ledesma of Seaside; 11 grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews from all over the United States. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Ledesma and sister, Elida Para. Visitation will be held at Mehls Colonial Chapel on , Jan. 19th from 5-9 pm with the Rosary recited at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Assumption Church in Pajaro on , Jan. 20th at 10 am. Burial will follow at San Joaquin Valley National in Santa Nella at 1:30 pm. |
