Obituary: Kathleen Marie Lyon Dec. 27th, 1935 - Sept. 22, 2015 On 22nd, 2015, Kathleen Lyon age 79, passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side, in Everett, WA. Kathy and Bill loved their life together, which started five years before they were married on 3rd, 1954. celebrated 61 years of marriage this last . She took great pleasure every morning, beating him in a game of Yahtzee, dominos, rummy, or through the years, whatever game it was they were playing, that he let her win. Kathy and Bill spent the last 7 years, snow birding to Surprise, Arizona, where they have a mobile home and easily made new friends. Thru many years they have been called peoples favorite couple by many, even strangers, as their love for one another is genuine and people have always been able to feel it. The two of them had unconditional love for one another and it showed wherever they were. This unconditional love is eternal and will continue on forever. What a wonderful example Kathy has been to her Children, and others. Motherhood and enriching the life of her family, became her main focus at an early age. She would walk the 12 blocks, to the Elementary school, covering all her children's events such as fun night. She would stay up late making the best food, like popcorn balls, that sold out in the 1st hour. The teen years were no different when she would make sure every , when she went shopping, she would buy the top 40 record or newest fashion. And a treat was on each of her children's beds, when they came home from school. Kathy became a Snohomish Blue Bird leader, later to become a Campfire leader, impacting many young girls lives. She was a very talented crafter and her teaching began in these early years. Kathy's talents started to flourish and she began to grow into an accomplished, all around beautiful artist. Kathy has painted many paintings in oils, water colors, and acrylics. Some she sold and some she gifted. Her many other talents include ceramics, toll painting, scrap booking, card making, Iris folding, knitting, crocheting and wood carving. When she lived in Japan, she learned ikebana(Japanese flower arranging). Kathy's love is spread through many solid lifelong friendships, to name a couple and going back as far as Everett high school, 1954. Nancy Sandum visited Kathy in her last days, bringing her a special treat, chocolate sea foam, the two of them used to walk uptown and buy the sea foam and chocolate stars, at the candy store together. She also had a friend visit her, in her last days, all the way from Japan, who she had met in 1974, when they lived in Japan. Kathy loved to sing, and had a beautiful singing voice. Kathy inspired people to be the best they could be. Well, except for her brother Larry Moore(Carol), when they were children and he would whistle. She would holler, "Mother, will you make him stop whistling". Oh well guess she wasn't always perfect. She spent the remaining years embracing in the love and respect of her family and friends. One of the highlights in Kathy's life, was going to their camping lot in the summertime. Years later Kathy continued to tell stories of the grandchildren growing up on grandma's vacation where she would take them camping for two weeks every summer. Where they would paint pet rocks, and she would sit all day long, watching them swim, rain or shine. She was a wonderful, dedicated, and loving wife and mother. Later her dedication and love trickled down to her 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and yes, even 2 great, great, grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Lyon, and her 3 children Julie Swanson(Fritz), Cindy Danley(Don) and Dale Lyon. An Open House Celebrating Kathy's wonderful life will be held on , 26th, 2015 from 2:00-5:00 at 2611 Rainer, WA. We will miss you Dear Mama everyday of our lives and you will be a part of us forever. We are comforted knowing you are FREE and dancing with the angels and that we will see you again. |

Obituary: John D. (Jack) Lyon, Jr. Jack was born to John D. Lyon, Sr. and Estella G. (Tamblyn) Lyon 8, 1938 in Yakima, Washington. He went home to be at his Saviors side 20, 2013 after a very brief stay at the Cottage at the Meadow Hospice . Jack was raised in Yakima and attended Franklin Junior High School and graduated from the final class of Yakima High School in 1957. Jack married his high school sweetheart Janice M. Engen, 27, 1959 at Central Lutheran Church in Yakima, Washington. enjoyed a happy and supportive marriage for 53 years that was a shining example to their children and grandchildren. Jack was a long-time member of Central Lutheran Church, serving as council member, lectionary and usher during his membership. Jack attended Yakima Valley Community and the University of Oregon prior to graduating from Central Washington University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both History and Education. He later earned his Masters Degree in Education from Central Washington University. Jack and Janice lived in Renton, WA for five years, where Jack was employed with The Boeing, Co. During that time, Jack traveled to both Germany and Japan for his job, and those experiences had great influence in his life. In 1968, Jack and Janice returned to the Yakima Valley where Jack taught at Franklin Junior High School and Eisenhower High School over a 32-year career. He retired in 1998. During his teaching career Jack also coached football and basketball. Jack and Janice raised two sons, Kenneth S. and David K. in Yakima and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting upland birds and spending time at the beach. Jack had a particular love of nature and spent numerous hours hiking through Central Washington collecting butterflies and various plants. Many of these were featured in stained-glass and calligraphy that Jack enjoyed making over the years. The greatest joys in Jacks life were the relationships he shared with his wife, family and friends. Jack and Janice enjoyed memorable trips to Washington, D.C., the Oregon Coast, Hawaii, Alaska, and cross country road trips to Illinois. Jack will be remembered for his intelligence, enthusiasm, and great curiosity about the world and people around him. He was well-read, artistic, and sentimental. In his later years of declining health, Jack modeled an attitude of good grace, living well despite his limitations. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janice; son and daughter-in-law David and Tharon (Pruss) Lyon of Bend, Oregon; daughter-in-law Michelle (Barnhart) Lyon of Lake Villa, Illinois; grandchildren Alexander J. Lyon and Johanna M. Lyon of Bend, OR., and Tyler S. Lyon and Morgan E. Lyon of Lake Villa, IL.; brother Jerry D. Lyon of Port Angeles, Washington; two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, four nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by son Kenneth S. on 20th, 2013; parents John D. and Estella G. Lyon, brother LeRoy A. Lyon, and sister-in-law Kristin (Engen) Laffoon. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 pm, , 5, 2013, at Central Lutheran Church, 1604 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA.
