Obituary: Timothy Michael Lucey, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on , 10, 2012. Dad was born on 5, 1929 in San Francisco to his immigrant parents John and Hannah Lucey. Although Dad did not have a lot growing up, his life was enriched by the friends he made. He loved to talk about growing up on the streets of San Francisco and the melting pot of families struggling for the American dream. He was proud of his Irish heritage and loved to tell stories of his parents, brother and sisters growing up. Dad had only an eighth grade education and went on to become a self-made man. He was a very strong independent man and knew the meaning of hard work. He put in long hours away from his family to provide a better life than he had. Even after he retired he still had the desire to work and was still looking for the perfect job. Dad worked for Kirby Vacuum for many years. He married Barbara Joan Lucey (Clements) on 6, 1964 and adopted and became the best Dad ever to her daughter Gina Marie. The marriage was blessed with the birth of Michelle Ann and Patrick John. moved their family to Yakima in 1969 and he worked for Kermit Jacobson of Kirby Vacuum. A few years later Dad and Mom opened their successful store T & B Vacuum. enjoyed many years of business and Dad was a mentor to many young sales people that came through their door. It was said in the Vac business that Dad was the ultimate closer. He could sell ice to Eskimos. 30 years of marriage Tim and Barbara divorced, but remained close friends and enjoyed pushing each others buttons to the end. We were so thankful that we were able to continue to enjoy being a close family. For several years Dad lived in Kennewick and had many close friends. He worked as a courtesy van driver at local casinos. In May of last year he moved back home to Yakima. We are so blessed to have had many more special times with him this past year and a half. He was a huge car buff and loved watching NASCAR races on the oob tube. His greatest joy however was his family. He is lovingly survived by his former wife Barbara, children Gina Milliron (James), Michelle McGuire (Alan) of Yakima, Patrick Lucey (Patrick) of Bellevue, as well as Timothy Lucey Jr. (Jolie) of Santa Monica and his daughter Kelley Lucey of California by his first wife Marie. His grandchildren, Elias Michael Sutton, Abbigayle Rose and Emma Jon McGuire, Frank James Milliron, MaryBeth Degregorio, Zuley Marie and Genny Marie Milliron. He is also survived by his sister Josie Cullen (Jerry) of Navato, CA. and her children Brian and Jeannie, as well as niece Theresa Yamamoto (Steve), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John and sister Mary. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. , 3, 2012 at Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel. Obituary: As a young boy, Levi moved from Bayfield Colorado to Seattle in 1938. Growing up in the Seattle area, he managed to make his way from an 18ft trailer in White , to West Seattle, to a wonderful home in Normandy Park with a view of the water. This home was his pride and joy with a yard like a park. Levi graduated from West Seattle High School in 1954. high school Levi joined the Army where he was stationed in Hawaii. He served in what he called he Battle of Waikiki. While in the Army, Levi married Mary, the love of his life. Levi and Mary were married for 58 years, an unbelievable amount of time. Levi was most proud of his three sons Ernie, Kenny and Danny. Even when his sons were very young if you asked him how many oys he had he would tell you he didn have any oys, he only had men. While his sons were growing up, the family loved to camp and fish. He went on annual fishing trips to Westport with brother-in-law Joe, ironically he didn't he didn like salmon. He loved his cars and pickups. His early pride and joy was his 56 Chevy. He owned numerous motorcycles in his younger days. Ernie and Kenny were told not tell his mother after he bought his first motorcycle. He was known to wear the paint off his vehicles because he washed and waxed them so often. Levi spent 30 years at Duwamish Shipyard where he managed the tool room. Levi was never seen at work without a creased pair of work jeans and a freshly iron handkerchief, something passed down from his mother, Anna. Levi met and befriended a huge amount of people from all over the country at his job, as was seen at his retirement party. He loved his job at Duwamish shipyard and they loved him. One of the fondest memories will be the annual trip down the coast with Mary and his granddaughters Amy Jo, Danielle and Kammi. On these trips they rode horses, rafted down the rapids, did the jet boat rides, and spent cherished family time together. Later in his life after a brief stay at Highline Hospital Levi was asked to do advertising for them. He was in commercials, fliers and banners. He loved getting recognized as a Burien Celebrity with his famous catch-phrase Just ask Levi!. In his retirement years he became a sports nut, he loved NBA basketball, the Mariners, and especially the Seahawks. Of course he was disappointed when his Supersonics left town. One of the most treasured memories was watching the Seahawks win their first Superbowl as a family. Levi was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Anna. He is survived by many special cousins and friends and his family that meant everything to him; his beloved wife Mary, sons Ernie (Karie), Kenny (Stephanie) and Danny (Misty). And Granddaughters Amy Jo, Danielle, Kammi, as well his brother Louis (Vivian). Levi made a friend everywhere he went, he will be missed by an immeasurable number of people. |
