Obituary: Dorothy Ida Lott passed away 12/22/14 to be with her Lord and Savior and can rest in peace now. Born 12/9/1922 at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington to Frank and Ida Stoll. She lived her childhood in Medical Lake, Washington on a wheat farm. When she was age 16 the family relocated to Baker City, Oregon where her dad found work for the City of Baker. She graduated from Baker High School, and moved to Kellogg, Idaho to live with her Aunt Helen working at a five and dime store. On 31, 1941 she married the love of her life, Wendell M. Lott, who went by Jack. were married for 73 years. lived in Kellogg where Jack was working in the mines, mining for lead and zinc for the 1941 war effort. She had a daughter, Judy in 1942 and a son, Leslie in 1943. Jack was drafted into World War II so Dorothy and kids went back to Baker City to live with her Mom and Dad. Dorothys mom took care of Judy & Leslie while she worked for CC Anderson and Jackson food market to save money. the war, Jack came home and was doing odd jobs before re-enlisting back in the Army and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. Dorothy packed up herself and the children and went to be with him in Texas. While living in San Antonio, they had a son, Charles, born in 1950. Getting out of the service they saved enough to lease a corner grocery store in Baker City - the Court House market. both ran the store, Jack was the butcher and Dorothy ran the rest. Dorothy was an active Christian in the Lutheran Church and sang in the choir as a leading soprano soloist. She also was active in the American Legion ladies auxiliary and always sold poppies for the Vets and also helped with the of Dimes. She loved her family very much and enjoyed being a good mother and housewife. She enjoyed watching football games that her son Chuck and grandsons Scott, Kip and Kyle Foye participated in. She also was a big fan of the Seattle Mariners. Dorothy enjoyed being with her daughter Judy doing fun things and always helping with transportation when needed for the Bakerettes Drill Team in which her daughter was active. She also supported Chucks band and Leslies bands as her house was always available as the place to practice when needed. Dorothy was a great saver of money; and she always had a goal of buying a new home. The dream became real when she and Jack had enough saved to buy property on which they built their new home. It was a big accomplishment and one which she was very proud of. She and her family lived there for many years until the building their store was located in became for sale. So they sold their dream house to buy the building which had the grocery store on the main floor and their home was upstairs. retiring, Jack and Dorothy moved to Yakima as their permanent home to be closer to their daughter and son and to be active grandparents. In the winter months they had a fifth wheel travel trailer which they took to Phoenix, Arizona and Indio, California to live for several months. would come back to Yakima in the spring. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Ida Stoll, and one brother, Leslie Oren Stoll. She is survived by two sisters, Louise Elizabeth Kron of Phoenix and Rose Mae Hardwick of Eugene. Also her spouse Wendell M. Lott (Jack) and daughter Judy Lee Foy of Yakima; son Leslie Oren Lott (Carolyn) of Gig Harbor, WA and son Charles M. Lott (Kay) of Portland, Oregon. Her 8 grandchildren are Brad, Scott, Kip and Kyle Foye, Anissa and James Lott, Lindsay and Allie Lott plus 6 great-grandchildren: Kasey and Logan Foye, Sophia Lott, Hannah and Henry Gargus and Henry Wilson. A special thanks to the staff of Wynwood Assisted Living for 1 year and 8 months of quality living. Also for her hospice care and the special care from Living . A Graveside Service honoring Dorothys life at West Hills Memorial Park will be held , 29th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. To share a memory of Dorothy Lott, visit www.keithandkeith.com . |
