Obituary: Norma Jean Larson Norma Jean Larson passed away peacefully on 25, 2014 after a fifteen month battle with cancer. Norma was born in 1934 to William and Agnes Hafferman in Kalispell, Montana. Norma grew up in Libby and graduated as Valedictorian of the LHS class of 1952. Norma attended the University of Montana where she met her husband, Steven Roy Sanders. married in Libby and in 1955 and traveled the world together as Steven was a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. had three children: Julie, Douglas, and Don. Steven was killed in action in 1969 in the Vietnam War. Norma went immediately to work for the Libby Public School System. Following her love for flying, they moved to Mesa, Arizona so that she could manage the flight school there. Soon after, she moved to her hometown of Libby to take over ownership of the Meadowlark Motel and Trailer Court from her parents. Norma eventually ended up in Idaho, where she received her Master's Degree in Education. She met and married Larry Larson in 2006. Even though she suffered from early stages of Alzheimers in her last few years of life, she never lost her delightful sense of humor. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Steven, grandson Steven, her parents William and Agnes, brother Billy Hafferman, her granddaughter Ashley, and husband Larry. Norma is survived by her children and their spouses, Julie and Paige (Twin Falls, ID), Douglas and Diana (Fort Worth, TX), Don and Marie (Bothell, WA), nine grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to her very best friend Margie Payne and the Evergreen Hospice for all the help during this hard time. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Obituary: Born in Bellingham on 14, 1922 to Nick and Josephine Dybdahl. She passed away peacefully in her apartment, in Edmonds, WA,on 17, 2011. Norma was the valedictorian of the Bellingham High School Class of 1939, and graduated with honors from Western Washington Uuniversity. She played on the university basketball team and was captain of the debate Club. Norma married her high school sweetheart, LeRoy O. Larson, in 1942. were happily married for over 65 years before his passing in 2008. Norma is survived by her two sons Keith L. and Mark A. (Elizabeth), four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Norma taught elementary school before getting married. She worked at the Boeing during WWII, and later she worked for Seattle First National Bank in their Trust Dept. during the 70s. Obituary: Ella Noray Larson, 84, passed away at Ashley Gardens Memory in Bremerton on 8, 2010. Noray was born on 1, 1925 in Bremerton to Rhoda and Rheinhart Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Larson, her parents, and her brother Stan Smith. Noray graduated from Bremerton High School in 1943. She attained her Dental Hygiene degree from the University of Minnesota in 1945. graduation, Noray began her Dental Hygiene career and worked until retiring at age 79, compiling an amazing 57 plus years of service. She volunteered as a Dental Hygienist on Kibbutzes in Israel, orphanages in Egypt, Ethiopia and a Bible in India. Her active interest in overseas dental hygiene led her to serve as Chairman for the Committee on International Relations for Dental Hygienists 1975-1976. During her long career, she provided dental hygiene instructions to children in both public and private schools in Bremerton and Central Kitsap, as well as Clallam and Jefferson Public Dept. Her motto was Have Toothbrush will Travel. Noray had many hobbies. She had a love for music, attending concerts, and playing the piano at the Bremerton Community theatre. Her enjoyment of traveling led to the pursuit of photography, with the Bremerton Camera Club F: 67 and Olympic Peaks Camera Club in Sequim. She succeeded at capturing life through a camera lens, winning many honors for her photographic endeavors. She was active with many local organizations including Order of Eastern Star Reliance Chapter 70, and contributing her time in piano accompaniment. During the years raising her children, their school lunches were always made with her homemade bread. She sewed most of the clothing for herself and her daughters. Noray is survived by three daughters, Linda Hermanns (Dean) of Waitsburg, WA, Karin Skeim-Roe (Lloyd) of Eatonville, WA and Marianne Campbell (Craig) of Bremerton; and a son, Kenneth D. Larson of Tri Cities. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Kristin Turnick (Jon), Jamie Skeim, Daniel (Charity), Jeffrey, Allyson, and Joseph Campbell; 6 great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Taylor, Jackie, Matthew, Jacob and Nathanial. Our family expresses heartfelt thanks for the nurses and staff of Ashley Gardens, and Hospice of Kitsap , who took such loving care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap , PO Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383. A memorial service will be at Miller-Woodlawn , 29th at 2:00. An online memorial has been established at www.mem.com and the family welcomes any pictures and stories to be incorporated into a memory book that will preserve Norays memories in the years to come. |
