Obituary: WILLIAMSBURG - Maxie Anderson Lingerfelt was born into this world 17, 1935 in Gastonia, North Carolina to Ethel & Albert Lingerfelt. He lived a full 80 years on this earth and on 17, 2015, he was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by his parents and his beloved grandparents Alice & John Lingerfelt. There also to greet him was his sister Jo Ann Sanders, and three brothers Doug Haas, Tyree Lingerfelt and Billy Lingerfelt. Under the Godly influence of his grandparents, Maxie grew up attending Ridge Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina where he accepted Christ as his Savior on 9, 1951. Upon moving to Williamsburg, he was an active member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Williamsburg for over 30 years. His strong faith in Christ sustained him through many trials in his life and especially during these last two years. Maxie served in the U.S. Army transportation corps from 1957-1961 and developed a love for Germany and its peoples. He worked as a Produce Manager at the Colonial/Big Star Grocery in Williamsburg and then was the owner/operator of an Arnold Bread distributorship. retirement, he worked as a Head Start bus driver where the precious young riders called him "Mr. L" until his health prevented him from continuing what he readily admitted was his favorite job. He is survived by his beautiful bride of 50 years Judith Myers Lingerfelt of Williamsburg; his two doting daughters Susan (Vance) Stallings of Williamsburg and Jennifer (Doug) Innanen of West Point; his cherished five grandchildren Sydney, Landon, Peyton, Reagan and Ashlyn. He also leaves behind three sisters Linda (Harold) Doss of Gastonia, NC, Faye (Don) Sanders of Kathleen, GA, and Hazel (Clarence) Cribbs of Conway, SC. Special friend of the family Amanda Owens, numerous nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Max and his faithful canine companion Bella also mourn his passing. Services will be held , 21 at 2 p.m. at Williamsburg Community Chapel, 3899 John Tyler Highway, Williamsburg, VA. |
