Obituary: F.S. Scottie Lyons, 77, died 22 2014 after a brief illness. He was born 8 1937 to the late E.A. Squatty Lyons, Jr. and Fern Young Lyons. Scottie graduated from Reagan High School in 1955 and was a member of the Corp of Cadets at Texas A&M. He had remained active in Reagan High School charity events and reunions. Loyalty being one of the things he valued most in life he was always loyal to the people and things he believed in. Having grown up as the son of the Harris Commissioner who served 48 years he was always civic minded and joined the Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1963 where he served as Executive Vice-President. Here he met men who have remained his life-long friends. moving to Montgomery in 1970 he served in several civic organizations including the Rotary Club of the Woodlands. He was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Association, lifetime member of the Montgomery Fair Association and supporter of the 100 Club. Scottie became the President and owner of Dyna-Therm Corporation in Houston, Texas in 1975. In 1980 he was elected a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. His company designs separation equipment in use in most major refineries and companies around the world. When he went to work for the company in 1970 he said, I have found what I was meant to do. And all the experience I have gained up to this point has been meant for this. He loved his work and rarely took time away from the company. Hunting with his father on their lease called Chicolete near Victoria and later with his sons, grandsons, and friends was one of the great joys of his life. In the last few years fishing with his sons, family, and friends where he especially enjoyed salt water fishing in his boat based near Freeport, Texas was his current first choice for fun and relaxation. He was also a major supporter of the Coastal Conservation Association. Scottie was a man with a sense of humor that could not be matched, and as often said; a man larger than life. In his early Jaycee days a reporter printed, Scottie has the mirth to go with his girth and that was so true. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis, his children; Scott and wife Debra Lyons, Joan and husband Keith Townsend, Phillip Lyons, Laura Lyons-Romano; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Everett and wife Sue Lyons and Jim and wife Joyce Lyons and numerous nieces and nephews. He was very close to his brother and sisters-in-law and their families who also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Horace Lyons. Pallbearers: Tom Walsh, David Shaw, Keith Townsend, Morgan Berry, Chance Lyons, Zachary Townsend, Harry Klein, and Larry Romeo. Honorary Pallbearers: Archie Bennett, Jr., Gene Hastings, Joe Euresti, Ron Jordan, Joe Guyton, Dr. Robert Debes, Glen Seldin, and George Bolinger. The family will be receiving visitors at Forest Park The Woodlands on 25 between 5pm and 8pm. A funeral service will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Chapel on 26, 2014 at 10:00am.
