Obituary: Jack Delvin Luge was born on 13th, 1941 to Delvin Thomas (Del) and Lavon Fern Luge in Decatur, Illinois. He had 3 brothers, Ronald William, Harry David and Delvin Thomas. Jacks grandfather Harry Luge opened the first barber college in Illinois in Decatur. Del and Lavon moved the family to Arizona when Jack was 9 years old and they settled in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was in the Scottsdale school system, but was unable to finish due to health problems. When Jack was 13 he had an abscess of the pancreas and underwent surgery, but the surgery was unsuccessful and he had to undergo another more complicated surgery in order to save his life. The entire process landed him and his condition in the American Medical Association records for his age and the nature of the problem. He then entered barber college at 14 years old making him the youngest barber in Arizona history. His father Del decided to become a barber also, and they worked together in a barber shop that they opened on McDowell Road in Scottsdale. It was during this time that Jack met and married his sweetheart Myrna Stevens. Within the year they had a son whom they named Jack Delvin Luge Jr. Del and Jack moved their barber shop from McDowell Road to another location on Granite Reef and McDowell. a few years they both decided to go their separate ways, Del stayed in the old shop and Jack opened another shop which was located on 48th Street and Van Buren in Phoenix where he stayed for many years. Jack and Myrna had 2 more children during this time, LaDonna Kay Luge and Christine Deann Luge. Jack moved his family to Mesa in 1970 and in 1979 they had another child, Lisa Marie Luge who preceded him in death in 1994. The kids went to Lehi Elementary School, Kino Junior High (except for Lisa who went to Carson Junior High due to boundary changes) and Westwood High School. school Jack Jr. went into the United States Marine Corp and after graduating from basic training married Destri Sue Lewis. had 3 children, Gaven James Luge, Hayden Michael Luge and Hannah Grace Luge. Gaven preceded grandpa Jack in death in 2009. Jack and his family currently reside in Ennis, Texas. LaDonna is married to David Dray and lives in Goldthwaite, Texas. Christine married Joe Holguin and has 2 children, Ashley Elizabeth Holguin and Jose Anthony Holguin and is now living in Lampasas, Texas. Jack sold the barber shop on 48th Street and opened his dream shop in Papago Plaza on Scottsdale Road and McDowell in Scottsdale. It was a Route 66 themed shop with an old time juke box and license plates from all over the world. Jack loved his shop and especially his customers. He cut hair for people from all walks of life. He had many celebrity customers and established long lasting friendships with each and every one of them. When Jack was 60 years old he began planning for his retirement in a few years. All of his kids were now living in Texas and Jack and Myrna really loved the green grass and tall trees of Central Texas. It was like coming home for Myrna since she was born in Hamilton, Texas, approximately 50 miles from where their kids now lived. Jack sold his beloved shop and put his home up for sale and he and Myrna moved to Lampasas, Texas in 2006. Jack wasn happy about leaving his friends who he considered his extended family, but he made sure to keep in touch with them. He piddled around for a few months and decided he loved cutting hair and opened another shop in Lampasas, Texas. It was just a little cottage that he converted into a one man shop, but Jack loved it and had it decorated in a western theme, and of course had some Route 66 splashed in with it. He had the shop for about 3 years prior to his death. He had 5 acres with a couple of horses that he never rode, but treated like puppy dogs that he just loved to groom and feed snacks to. Jack Delvin Luge Sr. passed away on 16th, 2010 after a short illness. He is missed by his family and friends. Jack and Myrnas daughter Lisa Marie is resting eternally at East Resthaven in Phoenix, Arizona, and now Jack Delvin Luge Sr. is resting beside her. under the direction of Resthaven Park Mortuary & , Phoenix, AZ. |

Obituary: Beverly Ann Luffel (B Ann), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful wife, passed away on 25, 2015. B Ann was born in Fort Scott Kansas in 1932. There she met and married her high school sweetheart, Donald Leroy Luffel in 1950. B Ann and Don moved to Houston Texas soon after the birth of their first child in 1951. B Ann and Don were married for 65 years. B Ann was a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother. She lived for her children and grandchildren, and could always be counted on to give her love, support, and friendship to all the children and their spouses, and her beautiful grandchildren. She taught her family the true meanings of Unconditional Love and Unwavering Devotion. She was the Heart and Soul of the Luffel clan! B Ann will be missed beyond measure. She was very active in her local church and garden clubs, and maintained many deep friendships. Colorado and New Mexico held a special place in her heart, along with an interest in the local Indian cultures, their music and their crafts. She spent as much of her time as possible at their summer home in Pagosa Springs Colorado, where she enjoyed the peace and beauty of the mountains, along with her faith and friendships at St. Patricks Episcopal Church. B Ann is survived by her husband Don; three sons and their wives: Lawrence and Rosalie Luffel, Thomas and Patricia Luffel, Robert and Gerry Luffel; and daughter Meredith Emmott; grandchildren: Lauren and her husband Detrik Stillwaugh, Sarah Luffel, Kyle Emmott, Katherine Luffel, Brooke Emmott; great grandson Daxton Stillwaugh. A memorial service will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel on , 11 at 12:30. There will be an additional service for B Ann in Pagosa Springs, Colorado at St. Patricks Church at a date to be determined. |
