Obituary: Helen Katherine McAllister Smith Lowery, passed on her 84th birthday peacefully, at home surrounded by her loving family on , 2, 2013. Service: , 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Haltom Road Baptist Church, 3313 N. Haltom Rd. in Haltom, Texas. Visitation: , 4, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at J.E. Foust in Grapevine. She was born to Frank Mac McAllister and Margaret Maron in Merriam, Kansas on 2, 1929. She graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1947. She married Eugene Robert Smith on 5, 1948, and they had two daughters Shari and Denise Smith. He passed in 1960. On 27, 1962 she married Oren Eugene Gene Lowery and they also had two daughters, Debbie and Karen Lowery. She was treasurer of the NCO Wives Club during her husbands Air Force tour in Germany. As an Air Force wife she had the privilege of traveling to several countries and across the United States. She was also a member of the VFW Wives Auxiliary. She retired at the age of 65 from Doskocil. At which time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and pets. She enjoyed family vacations, cooking, watching football, bowling, sitting on the patio watching wildlife, and was an avid reader who loved her Kindle Fire almost as much as her children. She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Margaret McAllister; brother, Albert McAllister; husbands, Eugene Smith and Oren Eugene Gene Lowery; and great-great granddaughter: Emma Fanning. Survivors: Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Shari Roberts and husband, Edward, of Florence, OR, Denise Tognocchi of Lake Worth, Debbie Applegate of Roanoke, and Karen Griffith of Roanoke and unofficially adopted Shelly Nicoloff of Lake Worth; grandchildren, Kendra Henderson and husband, Clark, of Fincastle, VA, twins Teresa and Tina Ballard of Seminole, TX, Ronald Pummill and wife, Joanne of Fresno, CA, Alfred Pummill of Los Angeles, CA, Mike Tognocchi of Fort Worth, Chris Tognocchi of Haslet, Brianna Lowery of Roanoke and Tabatha Griffith of Watauga. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren with one on the way and nine great-great grandchildren with one on the way. |

Obituary: Helen E. Lowery, 86, beloved wife, mother, Nanny, Great-Nanny, and sister, passed away on 29, 2010. Her family was by her side with love and support throughout her life. Helen was born on 18, 1924 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Mary Ellen (Mae) Kelly and Charles Eschenbrenner. On 23, 1941 Helen became the WWII bride of John W. (Jack) Lowery, who served overseas in the U.S. Army Air Corps. In 1951 they moved from New Jersey to Burnet, Texas, where Jack worked as Vice President and General Manager of the Southwestern Graphite . Helen was a devout Catholic, serving as church historian, office secretary, and as a member of the Altar Society for Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Burnet. She served as an Election Judge for Burnet and volunteered her time for La . Helen loved to garden, dance, sew, golf, play bridge, and took up painting later in life. For over 40 years she spent afternoons with a special group of friends playing cards, while sharing life together with laughter. She cherished those days. Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, mother, father, brothers Charles, Eugene, and Joseph, and sisters Mary, Margaret, Dorothy, Geraldine, and Marion. She is survived by her daughter Lorraine Haby and husband Jack of Kerrville; son John W. Lowery, Jr. and wife Emilia of Miami, FL; daughter Mary Ellen Fariss and husband Craig of Burnet; daughter Trudy Hawthorne and husband Kelly of Liberty Hill; granddaughters Cathy Kuehne and husband Mike of Lampasas, Meredith Hart and husband Wesley of Georgetown, and Kate Hawthorne of Leander; grandsons Bobby Jack Haby of Austin, and Matt Hawthorne of San Angelo; great-grandchildren Josh and Lindsey Kuehne, and Payton and Sadie Hart. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Eschenbrenner of Toms River, NJ, and sister Kay Purvin of Seaside Park, NJ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers are Jack Haby, Craig Fariss, Kelly Hawthorne, Bobby Jack Haby, Matt Hawthorne, and Josh Kuehne. Honorary pallbearers are Ramsey Clinton, John Cox, Gene Eddings, Ted Everett, Ray Frady, Alvin Nored, Dr. John Sandner and Robert Wilkin. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Seton Highland Lakes and Cornerstone Hospital in Austin. George was born 03, 1972 in Nacogdoches, Texas to George Lowery III and Linda Murray Lowery, and died , May 30 in a local hospital. George was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches and was a Baptist.
