Obituary: Charles Harry Lodowski, M.D. died May 8, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas. Born 1, 1918, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Charles and Charlotte Lodowski. The oldest of five children, Charles worked in his familys grocery store while attending school and playing in the school band. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University, a Master of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, Dr. Lodowski established a private practice in Pediatrics in Dallas. many successful years, he developed an interest in public health and administrative medicine and earned a Master of Public degree at Tulane School of Public and Tropical Medicine. He then served as Assistant Professor at The University of Virginia Medical School and as Medical Director of the Comprehensive Service for Children and Youth in Charlottesville, Virginia. Charles was Medical Director for Republic National Life Insurance in Dallas until retirement and served as president of the Society of Life Insurance Medical Directors of Texas. He and his wife enjoyed Elder Hostel trips, cruises, playing bridge and the violin. He loved family, friends and service to others. He was active in the Saint Vincent de Paul Society at his church and served as a lay Eucharistic minister for the homebound. He took great delight in meeting former patients when he encountered them as adults. Always interested in learning, after retirement, he completed numerous community college courses in subjects ranging from astronomy to religion. As his vision began to fail, he continued to pursue knowledge using audio materials. He is dearly loved and admired and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Florence Zelnik and Blanche Mattioli, and his brothers Harry James Lodowski and Robert Norman Lodowski. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Genevieve; son Charles Alan Lodowski and his wife Patricia; son Robert Lodowski and his wife Mimi; son John Lodowski and his wife Rose; daughter Ruth Lodowski; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and visitation will be May 11, at 6:30 p.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Chapel. The Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Stephen W. Bierschenk at 1:00 p.m. May 12, 2012 at North Chapel of Calvary Hill , 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, TX. Entombment will follow at Calvary Hill Mausoleum. Obituary: On , 19, 2010, Ervin Drew Lodes, 59, went to his home in heaven. He will be so greatly missed by his family and friends. Services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., , 22, 2010 at Hampton Vaughan Chapel. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Drew was born 15, 1951 to Andrew Andy Lodes and Mary Darline Blair Lodes who preceded him in death. In the 70s he was known as Texas Star which was his CB handle and it was during that time when he met and married his soul mate, Carol Dickson, on 18, 1979. He loved his wife with a passion that not many people will ever experience in their lifetime. Drew also had a great passion for anything with wheels and a motor. He was always on the lookout for another car/motorcycle/4-wheeler or anything that he and his son could play with. Drew retired from the City of Wichita Falls in 2010 as a Transit Operator. Drew is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carol Lodes; daughter and fiancé Essie Lodes and Chuck Davis; son, Landon Lodes; grandsons, Dylan and Kayden Burris; granddaughter Olivia Davis all of Wichita Falls; niece, Kieren Blanchard of Wichita Falls; nephew and his wife, Wayne and Anna Baker of Dickson, OK; and cousin and husband, Joyce and Jay Hensley of Afton, OK. Obituary: Robert Sherman Loden (87) of Waxahachie, Texas, was born to Vasker Smith Loden and Pearl Beaver Loden on 3, 1927 in Athens, Texas, and died 10, 2015 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease in Waxahachie, Texas. Sherman to his family, Sherm to his friends, was born and raised in Athens, Texas where he lived on his family’s farm. He graduated from Athens High in 1945 at the age of 17. His unwavering commitment to his personal relationship with Jesus Christ influenced every facet of his life. Sherman was blinded in one eye in an accident on the football field, but this did not prevent him from pursuing a successful career in business. On the heels of graduation from high school, he moved to Dallas where he met Martha Moore in of 1945. a brief courtship, they married in , 1945 and settled into an apartment on Ross Avenue in Dallas. His career with Sears, Roebuck and Co. began in 1945 where he swept the floors and loaded trucks. Sherman’s career at Sears was filled with opportunity resulting from his internal drive to be the best and do his best in everything he pursued. Eventually, he was promoted to the manager of the Southwest Territory purchasing department where he supervised and facilitated the purchasing of all paper products, printing, signage, and store fixtures for all Sears stores and offices in a five state region. His inner character was reflected also in his service as chairman for many years to the Lamar Street catalog plant’s United Way campaigns. He was respected and admired by his peers and employees for his honesty and integrity. In 1950, the Lodens moved to Lancaster, Texas where they built a new house at 544 W. 5th Street. In 1952, they became parents to Deborah Naomi, Sherma Lou was born in 1955, and later Bethany Elaine was born in 1961. With a growing family, the couple moved across town to a new home at 627 Willowood where they stayed until retirement in 1988. Upon retirement the couple moved where he fulfilled his life-long dream of returning to his boyhood hometown. resided in Athens until 2010 when they moved to Waxahachie. Throughout his adult life his commitment to Lord was evident in his service to mankind through the churches he attended and the many project he participated in while serving. As a deacon and church leader, a friend to his pastors and their families, a mentor to young men and women, his love for Christ was shown in his service to others. Throughout the course of his life, Martha and Sherman would notice a need and quietly meet it without fanfare or accolades. Sherman’s love for his family was evident in all that he did. He was a consummate jack-of-all trades who could fix most anything mechanical, build to specification anything of wood, and provide general advice to anyone who would listen about how to secure a sound future. He doted on his children, welcomed his son-in-laws into the family with open arms, and adored his grandchildren and great children, teaching them about living sensibly while keeping God at the center of all life’s decisions. He was never happier than when in the presence of his family. services will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel on 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., Pastor Richard Smith presiding. Brenda Wilmer will sing one of Sherman’s favorite spiritual songs, Who Am I? Two other favorite songs of Mr. Loden’s will be played, Let Me Live Close to Thee and Victory in Jesus. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years and nine months, Martha Louella Moore Loden of Waxahachie; three daughters, Deborah Dutschke of Abilene, Sherma and Randy Duck of Cypress, and Beth and Jim Thomas of Waxahachie; six grandchildren, Jeremy Dutschke (wife Kendra), Megan Dutschke Partain (husband John), Cimbrey Duck Brannan (husband Mark), Nicholas Duck, Jessica Thomas Ballard (husband Brandon), and Jarrod Thomas (wife Yesica); eight great-grandchildren, Preston Dutschke, Chandler Dutschke, Hudson Dutschke, James Partain, Zane Brannan, Elise Brannan, Jamie Thomas, and Braydon Ballard; sisters, Lois Loden Osorio and Cecil Loden Pearson; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Vasker and Pearl Loden; his sister Mary Lou Loden Knight; and his brothers Vasker Loden, Jr., Charlie Joe Loden, and Alvin Loden. Obituary: Ray Armstrong Loden Sr. born in Austin, Texas 9, 1928 died peacefully at home on 5, 2015 at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his parents Marion r Loden and Andrew Armstrong Loden, wife of 64 years Barbara Lynette Loden and son Ray Armstrong Loden Jr. Ray is survived by daughter Kathy Loden of Austin, Texas, twin granddaughters Ashley Loden and Allison Loden of Ohio, sister Margaret Montgomery and husband Bob of Houston, Sister in law Yvonne Smith and husband Bobby of Victoria, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces, and friends. Ray enjoyed a boyhood of swimming and exploring the caves in Barton Springs Pool, riding his bike often to Deep Eddy, and fishing with his Aunt Effie all along the banks of the Colorado River in Austin. He had his first job at 7 years of age selling and delivering newspapers near the University of Texas Campus. He also worked as a lifeguard at Barton Springs and at a local dairy delivering milk and blocked ice to folks for their ice boxes. He attended Oak Hill Elementary School and University Junior High School before moving to Houston where he attended Galena Park High School. He continued working when he arrived in Houston as a longshoreman loading live ammunition before landing a job in the parts department of Stewart & Stevenson where he would become a diesel engine sales manager for well over 40 years. During his time at Stewart & Stevenson he and his wife enjoyed many wonderful times with his work colleagues as well as his customers. He helped negotiate the building and sales of the first U.S. built diesel powered crew boat for a Norway Shipping . He also served as president of Travis Ocean Services until he retired at age 76. He was a flag flying proud American, a true native Texan and although he never attended college was a devoted University of Texas Longhorn fan. Services will be held at 11 am on 11, 2015 in The Chapel of Angels at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St Houston, TX. Pall Bearers will include Bryan Dedeker, Lance Montgomery, Maynard Belson, Cary Cargill, Christopher Cargill, Bob F. Smith, Robert Montgomery, Ronald Parker, Joe Manning IV. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Ray to Wounded Warriors Project; P.O.
