Obituary: Marvin Lee Litzler, 70, went to be with his Lord on 28, 2012 in Houston, after a long illness. He was born 21, 1941 in Houston, TX, the youngest of three to Herman & Mary Litzler. He had a strong faith and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy for 6 years on the U.S. Howard D. Crow during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Marvin lived his life for others, he loved to cook dumplings and barbeque for family, friends in church and widows that were part of his church family. He was also a Houston Fire Fighter for 35 years; he was a Fire Fighter, Inspector & Dispatcher and retired as a Senior Dispatcher in 2000. Marvin enjoyed being in the country, always working on something and spending time with his family, teaching his grandchildren by example. Marvin was very humorous and witty; he and his wife Glynda loved to travel, and spent many years travelling with their children. He and Glynda were current members of Metropolitan Baptist. Through many years of illness he never complained and kept his sweet spirit and faith in God; still always thinking of others before himself. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents: Herman & Mary Litzler; brother, Weldon Litzler; sister, Reba Skinner. Left to cherish his memories: loving wife of 50 years, Glynda Litzler; sons: Michael, Ronald & wife Julie; daughter, Karen & husband Jarrett; grandchildren: Aaron & Tyler; along with numerous relatives and friends. Visitation will be Wed., May 2nd from 5-8pm at Brookside . Services will be held at 11am, Thurs., May 3rd at Brookside Grand Chapel. Interment will follow at a later date. Obituary: John Henry Litzler, 73, of Dallas, Texas passed away at his home on 14, 2016 following a battle with cancer. John was born in Boston, Massachusetts the son of Samuel and Anne Litzler. His father was a naval officer resulting in frequent moves by the family. His favorite memories from his childhood were spent on the family farm in Sweeny, Texas with his grandparents, 10 uncles and an aunt. This is where he said he developed the strong work ethic he demonstrated throughout his career. His family also spent two years living at the Naval Base at Guantanamo, Cuba where he and his friends were invited to play baseball with the sailors in port. This experience resulted in his lifelong love of the sport. John graduated from Texas A&M Consolidated High School in Station. his enlistment in the Army Reserves and the death of his brother, James, in Viet Nam, John moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where his father was then an accounting professor at Northern Arizona University. He received a B.A. degree in Economics there in 1972. He attended the Graduate School of Business at University of Texas in Austin. He was recruited by Arthur Anderson and became audit manager of some of the largest engagements including the Cullum (Tom Thumb), Halliburton and General Dynamics. John was a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the Texas Society of Public Accountants, a member of the A.I.C.P.A., and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. In the mid-80s, John established what is now the well-respected accounting firm of Litzler, Segner, Shaw and McKenney, specializing in bankruptcy, restructuring, tax, accounting and litigation support. In 1989, John began his 27-year service to the Department of Justice - United States Trustee as a member of the Chapter 7 Trustee Panel. He has also served as Trustee and Plan Trustee for a variety of Chapter 11 cases in Northern District of Texas. John performed extensive investigative work throughout the United States and has been a private consultant for oil and gas, real estate and service related bankruptcies. He has been qualified and has served as an expert witness in various courts and has served as a consultant for the United States Trustee and various Creditors Committees. He developed many strong and lasting friends during his career that remained by his side throughout his illness. John married the love of his life, Nancy, on 9, 2006. Together they shared many happy times especially with their children Samuel Litzler II (wife, Julia), Lauren Pardue (husband, Jerad) and grandson Kane. traveled often to their favorite places: Vancouver, B.C.; San Francisco, Sedona, AZ; Nevis, West Indies; and their home in Florida. Their last trip was to San Antonio where John participated in a mens cancer retreat sponsored by Reel Recovery. John is also survived by his brother Lee Litzler (wife Lilia), sister Dr. Patricia Rogers (husband Todd); many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Murray and cat Heidi. John loved all animals and his best days began walking his dog on the Katy Trail. A special thank you to all of the medical professionals who supported John throughout his illness including: Dr. Stuart Owen, Dr. Andrew Scott Paulson, Dr. Mark Casanova, Dr. Shannon Poppito, and members of their teams at Baylor and Texas Oncology. A deep sense of gratitude goes out to all of the family and friends who supported John and Nancy through these difficult times. A memorial service celebrating Johns life will be on , 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Sparkman-Hillcrest. Obituary: Leah Donna Prebble Litz, age 71 of McKinney Texas won her victory over a six- year battle with lung cancer and was taken into Glory by her Heavenly Father on May 17, 2017 at 5:45 p.m. Donna was born at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio on 08, 1945 to Lowell and Margaret (Hopkins) Prebble of New Richmond, Ohio. Donna was the second of eight children. Her siblings and sometimes partners in crime were Carol Jean, Milton, Mark, Roger, Lana Gale, Bobby, and Phillip. The Prebble home was always filled with activity and many extended family and friends coming and going. Her extended family lived close by and all were welcomed and deeply loved. Those family names include the Hopkins, Newman, and Head, families. She was a member of First Baptist Church of New Richmond and was baptized in her youth by Brother Harrison. Many of her family and friends are still active in that congregation. Donna attended New Richmond Elementary where she met her best friend Marlene Hamilton in Kindergarten and were best friends for 65 years. She attended New Richmond High School and was a proud Lion. Donna attended Grayson Community and did her clinical rotations at the old McKinney hospital located on Highway 380. She graduated with a degree in where She was voted “Nurses-Nurse” in her pinning ceremony at Grayson. She worked in McKinney, Texas at the Wysong Campus. She also worked in Ohio as a charge nurse in a nursing facility for geriatrics. She loved caring for people and always ensured her patients were treated with dignity and gave the best care possible no matter the circumstances. To Donna, there was only one way to care for people, which is why she took her nursing oath so seriously. Donna was married to Per-Erik Litz from 1965-1995 and had three beautiful children Kyle, Brad, and Gail. Her parents and her sister Carol preceded Donna in death. She is survived by: her son Dr. Kyle E. and Kim (Rariden) Litz of NY and their daughter Grace; her son Brad and Hayley (Heiken) Litz, of IA and their three children Carter Condran, Brad Jr., and Chelsea; and her daughter Gail (Litz) and Matthew Holland of TX and their four children Nathan Holland, Hannah, Jacob and Erik Potter. Brad Jr. made her a great grandmother with a daughter named Aurora. Donna is also survived by: her brother Milton and his wife Patty; her brother Mark and his wife Theresa; her brother Roger and his wife Sharon; her sister Lana Gale and her husband Don; her brother Bobby and his wife Kelley; and her brother Phillip. Donna was very proud of herseven nephews: Sam Smith, Ryan Prebble, Adam Prebble, Ethan Prebble, Chance Silcott, Travis Silcott, and Matthew Kelly. She leavesseven wonderful nieces: Barbara (Smith) Shell, Amanda (Prebble) Lenhart, Stephanie (Prebble) Consola, Brandi (Silcott) Bryant, Maggie (Prebble) Dames, Diane (Prebble) Salters and Erin Prebble.Donnais survived by many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and second cousins, so many to name but much loved. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care given by: nurses Gail, Mo, and T.J at McKinney and Rehab; Hospice Select nurses and staff; and to Dr. B of Community North Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas, whose love and support was immeasurable. A memorial service will be held at Community North Baptist Church on , 3, and willbe officiated by Dr. Bruce Austin. The church is located at 2500 Community Avenue in McKinney, Texas 75071. The family will receive guests following service in the church parlor. Out-of-town family and guests will be served a meal following in the church hall. Donna has left her body for a beautiful paradise so the family and guests are asked to dress in their best Hawaiian/cruise attire. Memorials in Donnas name can be made to the Youth Camp Fund at Community North Baptist Church as Donna always supported her grandchildren having this experience. |

Obituary: Rowena Littrell passed peacefully in Austin, Texas on , 14th at the age of 90. Preceded in death by her husband John Littrell, her sister Margaret Tickner, mother Mary Farnsworth and father Montgomery Farnsworth, Rowena was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Betty Littrell and son-in-law Bennett Brier of Austin, Texas, and her granddaughter Jessica Brier of Los Angeles, California. Rowena was born in 1924 in Warren, Pennsylvania, graduating from high school at 16 and attending nursing school in Meadville, Pennsylvania where she began a 40-year career as an R.N. graduation, she joined the Indian Service, working in one of the poorest, most under-served communities. In 1944 and barely 20 years old, she joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. In her first tour of duty she was stationed in Vienna, Austria with the U.S. occupation forces to provide care to soldiers at the close of World War II. She completed graduate work at Texas Christian University and met John Littrell while working at Tarrant hospital. married in 1948 and moved to Lubbock where their daughter was born in 1955 in the same teaching hospital where they worked as instructors. Rowenas husband John served as a medic during the attack on Pearl Harbor and then rejoined the U.S. Army Medical Corps, embarking on a lifelong military career that began at Brook Army Medical and took their family to posts throughout the U.S., Germany, and Hawaii. returning to San Antonio in 1969, Rowena began a 25-year career as a psychiatric nurse at the newly built Audie Murphy VA Hospital where she helped establish their drug and alcohol unit. Before her husbands passing, they traveled extensively. retirement and well into her seventies, Rowena traveled the world with her dear childhood friends. Rowenas greatest joy in life was her family. At 81, she was thrilled watch her granddaughter graduate with honors from New York University. Rowena will be remembered for her generous heart, tenacious spirit, and caring soul. In 2006 she moved to Austin to be near her family. Rowenas family thanks Westminster Manor for devoted and loving skilled nursing and the kind caregivers at Christopher House. Rowena was a tireless advocate for families experiencing poverty and reproductive health issues, and for veterans coping with disabilities. In lieu of flowers and to honor Rowenas life of service, her family requests donations to Planned Parenthood, the Association for Disabled Veterans, UNICEF, and Hospice Austin. There will be a graveside burial service at Fort Sam Houston National in San Antonio where Rowena will be laid to rest on , 22 at 1 PM next to her husband John. |
