Obituary: A woman of Valor and a very classy Lady Margerite (Margie) Emily Rosenfield Lipman passed away 17, 2012. Margie was born in Dallas on Jan. 3, 1914, second child of Alex and Birdie (Ashner) Rosenfield. She was a member of one of Dallas pioneer families and a lifelong member of Temple Emanu-El, serving as a volunteer extraordinaire for over 70 years as well as a 40 year association with the religious school. She married Harold Lipman in 1939 and they were together until his death 45 years later. Both attended Forest Ave. High School in South Dallas. Margie was born to be the consummate Mother, not only to her daughters, but to many motherless adults she met along lifes journey. Through the years, she collected new families as others collect dolls. To her own children, she was a spiritual guide in life and religion. She encouraged their artistic and creative endeavors as well as introducing them to all the arts. She passed on her love of animals, dolls, antiques, books and clothes (especially shoes) to her family. Margie was beloved by all her family and friends. Her grandchildren adored her and a visit to her house was a special treat with all kinds of fun and creative activities. She was everyones caretaker: family, friends and neighbors alike. She was also a poet and writer from her teens to her 80s. Her writings were compiled and published in a collection, HiNeiNi, Here I Am. Margie loved crossword puzzles, card games, Yahtzee and playing scrabble with her sister, Emmy Lou. In her later years, she enjoyed travelling, especially her two trips to Israel. Margie was also a volunteer for many organizations for which she was awarded numerous honors and awards. She was a tireless volunteer at Golden Acres for over 30 years. She was a gifted artist and writer and used her talents to benefit many organizations including Leisure Club, Chever Torah, Chai House, PTA, Richardson schools, Girl Scouts, and W.A.A.B.I. as local and National President. She worked with and served on the boards of Sky Ranch (South Dakota), Girls Club of Dallas, and Dallas chapter of MS. Margies life was not always easy, but she handled it with grace and finesse, being an example to everyone she knew. She has been set free and her soul will soar with the best! Margie was proceeded in death by her parents, Birdie and Alex Rosenfield, her siblings, Felix Rosenfield and Emmy Lou Williams. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Don) Ullman, Judy (George) Nassif and Joani Noble, her six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Sue Bryant, Debbie Morgan and the staff at Legacy Preston Hollow, for the loving care of our Mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Temple Emanu-Els Sisterhood or Caring Congregation, 8500 Hillcrest Rd., Dallas, Tx 75225, or Chai House, 5959 Royal Ln., Ste. 634-214, Dallas, Tx 75230. Margie will be laid to rest on 21, 2012 1:00 pm at Sparkman-Hillcrest. Rabbi David Stern officiating. |
