Obituary: Rhoda Lynne Kuespert Libiez ,passed away on 22, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, James Libiez, as well as children Elizabeth Hailey (Jim) of Metairie, LA, Sandra Lawrence (Marc) of Keller, TX, and David Libiez (Susan) of Fulshear, TX. Also survived by grandchildren Michael and Anna Libiez, Diane and Ellen Hailey, Kelly and Tyler Lawrence. Born on 28, 1940 in Wood Dale, Illinois. Predeceased by her parents, William and Barbara Kuespert. A graduate of Fenton High School in Bensenville, IL, and of Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital School of in Chicago, IL. She began her nursing career at Wesley and continued it after marriage, working in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. She took pleasure and found fulfillment in being of service to her profession and people needing medical treatment. Throughout their marriage, Rhoda and Jim moved around the oil patches of the south, and later in the Appalachians as they raised their three children. She was a dedicated and loving parent, always concerned with the welfare of her children, and she gave to them the values that have enabled them to raise families of their own. Rhoda was very creative and extremely talented in the arts of sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlework, and smocking, though quilting and applique were where she excelled. She received numerous awards in regional and national competitions. She was always ready to create a quilt or blanket for wedding or baby gifts, finishing a wedding quilt in the last year and her last baby quilt in . She made many friends through her love of quilting, and was active in quilt guilds in Edmond, OK; Kanawha Valley Quilt Guild (WV); Wexford, PA; Canton, OH; and Hattiesburg, MS (Pine Belt). She also served on the board of the National Quilting Association (NQA) as secretary from 1999-2002. Rhoda was a member of Grand Lakes Presbyterian Church in Katy, TX; she was also a student of Bible Study Fellowship for many years. She readily volunteered her time with her church in every town in which they lived, especially with meals for shut-ins and the hungry, and knitting prayer shawls. She was an excellent cook and loved Cajun food, especially boiled crawfish. She was a lifelong optimistic Chicago Cubs fan. Rhoda leaves behind many friends and family in Illinois, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Mississippi. The family wishes to recognize the nursing staff at Memorial Hermann-Katy Hospital for their compassion and the care they gave her during her many stays there, as well as Kindred Hospital, for making her passing comfortable and gentle. A memorial service is planned for 3, 2015 at 11:00am at Grand Lakes Presbyterian Church, 6035 South Fry Road, Katy, TX 77450 with Rev. Dean Pogue officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rhodas memory are preferred to a charity of your choice |

Obituary: Phil Liberty 75, died unexpectedly on 19, 2015. Phil was born in Fall City, Nebraska, he spent his childhood in Wichita, Kansas, and called Austin, Texas his home. Phil went to college at St Edwards in Austin, Texas and received his Masters in Business Administration. He served in the United States Navy from 1959-1963 as part of the Seventh Fleet. Phil started working for IBM in 1963, retiring in 2000 after a distinguished career. He started in the stockroom, soon became a manager, branch manager, Vice President and then retired from IBM as an OEM Software Strategist. Phils career with IBM brought him to many different cities across the United States. He started in 1963 in the stockroom in Wichita, Kansas in 1965 he was promoted to Sales manager in New Orleans Louisiana; 1969 he became Branch manager in Austin, Texas; 1975 Division Manager in Atlanta, Georgia; 1977 Vice President in Armonk, New York; and 1986 OEM Software Strategist in Austin, Texas retiring in 2000. Phil retired he enjoyed playing tennis, boating on Lake Austin with friends, walking around Town Lake, and just enjoying all that Austin has to offer. Above all else, he will be forever remembered as a man that loved and helped his family and friends. He could always be counted on to help in a crisis. He recently had the opportunity to care for his grandson Bently, whom he adored. Phil is survived by his sister Janet L Helm of Lexington Kentucky his children Rochelle Liberty of Austin, Texas her children Jordan, Chandler and Emory. Raenetta Liberty of Jericho, Vermont her children Avery, Addison and Cameron; and Lucas Liberty of Austin, Texas with his children Calen and Bently. He is also survived by Judith Liberty and Spring Dawn Liberty. He is predeceased by his Mother and Father Lillian and Harold, his brothers Alan and Joseph, and his sister Dolores. Obituary: Colonel Gail N. Liberty, age 68, of San Antonio, Texas died on 18, 2006 at Air Force Village I . She was born in Rochester, NH on 18, 1938, the daughter of Frederick P. and Margaret Follansbee Liberty. Her family moved to Auburn, ME in 1945. She graduated from Edward Little High School as Valedictorian of the class of 1956. She continued her education at the New England Deaconess School of in Boston, becoming a registered nurse in 1959. In 1960, Col. Liberty enlisted as a nurse in the Air Force and was commissioned a second lieutenant. She later attended the University of Pennsylvania, receiving a BS in nursing, graduating magna cum laude. In the mid 1970Âs she received a masterÂs degree from the Arizona State University. She then attained the designation of Nurse Practitioner and Primary PhysicianÂs Assistant. Col. Liberty served as an Air Force Nurse Practitioner and PhysicianÂs Assistant at various bases in the US and overseas. In 1965 she started a two year tour of duty as a flight nurse, serving as a member of the medical crew on aero medical evacuation flights from Vietnam to hospitals in Japan, The Philippines, Hawaii and the United States. She received many awards and commendations during her twenty five year career: Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with five oak leaf clusters and other professional commendations. During the early years of her Air Force career, Col. Liberty took up competitive pistol shooting. She won 22 national and international medals, including national championship at Camp Perry, and tied for first at the International matches in Cairo, Egypt. She was inducted into both the Lewiston-Auburn Sports Hall of Fame and the Maine Sports Hall of Fame and was also recognized twice as Air Force Athlete of the year. In 1988 Col. Liberty was honored as San Antonio Outstanding Woman in Sports. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick P. and Margaret Liberty. She is survived by two brothers, Frederick of Auburn, Maine and Normand and his wife Judy of Yarmouth, Maine. A nephew Frederick lives in Olympia Washington. Her niece Lisa Liberty Becker and her husband Robert and their children True and Tate live in Concord, Mass. |
