Obituary: Lamar Lewis was born on 7/27/30 to Tommy and Annie Laura Lewis in Bolinger, Alabama. He departed for Heaven on May 27, 2016 at the age of 85. Lamar graduated from Diboll High School in 1948. He joined the United States Marine Corp in 1951 and was stationed in Barstow, California where he met the first love of his life Rena Sullivan whom he married in 1952. He was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1953 at the rank of Staff Sargeant. He attended Tyler Junior and graduated from the University of Houston in 1957 with a major in Journalism and minors in Business Administration and Speech. various positions in journalism and insurance sales, he went to work for Shell Oil in 1960 and retired from there in 1987 as Personnel Manager of the entire Deer Park Manufacturing Complex. Renas death in 1996, God introduced Lamar to a very special lady, a recent widow named Valaree Petterson. The speed with which the Holy Spirit confirmed this match was both awesome and terrifying to both of them. However, there was no denying that this was truly a match made in Heaven and they were married in 1997. Due to their age, they thought they would be fortunate to have 5 years together but God blessed them with 19 anniversaries! He said she was truly his wonderful second gift from God! Lamar is preceded in death by his first wife Rena and a sister Tommie Ann Law. He is survived by his second wife Valaree; 2 sisters, Doris Reed and Betty Petit & husband Bill and a brother, Amos Lewis and wife Jeanette; his son Richard Lewis & wife Nancy, his daughters and their spouses, Reagan Fuentes & husband Ringo and Joyce Cooke & husband Wade; granddaughters Raelynn Blacketer & husband Rick, Debi Margison, Deanna Howell, Wendy & Stormy Overly, and Elyse & Emily Cooke; great-grandchildren Katelynn, Kassidy & Kylan, Kandace & husband David, James Douglas & wife Tara, and Tyler & wife Deanna; 3 great-great grandchildren, Mckayla, Kaleigh &Toby and 2 more coming in the fall; along with a host of nephews, nieces, and great-nephews & great nieces - too many to name! Lamar could be described as a committed Christian, a talented and knowledgeable Bible teacher, a humorous (but corny) jokester, but most of all as a father who took seriously his responsibility to set an example to his family as a man who loved God and tried to live out his faith openly - not perfect in life but now perfected in Heaven. As Val says, hes probably in Heaven already organizing the choir! arrangements are being handled by Grand View home with visitation on 1st from 6-8 PM at the funeral home located at 8501 Spencer Hwy in Pasadena and the funeral service will be held on , 2nd at 10AM at First Baptist Church Deer Park located at 438 East 8th Street in Deer Park. Obituary: Frances Josephine Aschbacher Lewis was born on 19, 1923 at the Santa Rosa Hospital in downtown San Antonio, Texas. The only girl in a family with four brothers, she grew up on the family property near the intersection of Nacogdoches Road and New Braunfels Road, on land that is now Alamo Heights Junior High School. Frances was raised in a loving German and Polish family, and was a devout Catholic. She attended St. PeterÂs grade school, Incarnate Word High School and graduated from Incarnate Word with a Bachelor of Science degree. As World War II was raging, Frances enrolled in the Santa Rosa School of , graduating in of 1944. Upon graduation Frances enlisted in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. Serving in various Army hospitals throughout the US. Frances eventually returned to San Antonio in 1946 to serve at Fort Sam Houston, where she received an honorable discharge from the Army. In 1953 Frances married Noble Lewis and that same year she started working for the American Cancer Society. Her career with the American Cancer Society lasted for more than 30-years and Frances ultimately became the Executive Director of the American Cancer SocietyÂs Area III, which included all of South Texas from San Antonio to the Rio Grande Valley. During this time Frances and Noble had two children, Cynthia and Gregory. raising her family in San Antonio both children would receive their degrees from Texas universities, Cindy from Texas State University and Greg from the University of Texas. Cindy married Lou Nemeth of Philadelphia, PA, and Greg married Antoinette Sekula of San Antonio, Texas. Frances retired form the American Cancer Society in 1986 and Noble retired from Ernst and Young in that same year. spent the early years of their retirement traveling the globe. Frances and Noble were married for 36 years until his death in 1989. That year also brought grandchildren into Frances life, beginning in of that year with the arrival of Alexandra Lewis and one month later with the arrival of the twins, Karley and Kelsey Nemeth. A fourth granddaughter Avery Lewis would join the family in 1992. Frances continued to travel when the opportunity presented itself, and she also spent weekends at her beloved beach condo in Port Aransas with friends and family. In addition to her new responsibilities as Grandmother, Frances continued to serve her San Antonio community. Frances was a board member of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation and the University of the Incarnate Word Development Board. She was also an active member of St. MonicaÂs Guild as well as, Our Lady of the Woods Guild. Preceding Frances in death are her mother and father, Minnie and Eugene Aschbacher, her brothers George, Gene and Carl Aschbacher, and her husband Noble F. Lewis. She is survived by her brother Paul Aschbacher, wife Joanie Aschbacher and their family; her daughter Cynthia L. Nemeth, husband Lou Nemeth, grandchildren Karley and Kelsey Nemeth; her son Gregory Lewis, wife Toni S. Lewis, granddaughters Alexandra and Avery Lewis: and numerous cousins, extended family, and dear friends. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Methodist Hospital WomenÂs , 4th Floor, North Tower. Also Drs. Walker, White, Mark and Massey for their support and care of our Mother during her stay. We would also like to thank the nurses and staff of Vitas Hospice for their care of our Mother during her final days. |
