Obituary: Lois Whitworth Lentz passed away on , 9, 2014 at the age of 103 years. Lois was born on 29, 1910, to William Silas Whitworth and Mary Louetta Wright, in the Watterson community of Bastrop , Texas. She had five sisters and two brothers, all born and raised on the Whitworth farm. She attended grade school at Eight Live Oaks and graduated from Bastrop High School in 1929. She attended Texas A&I University and Stephen F. Austin University and later received her Library Science training at the University of Texas. From 1930 to 1938, Lois taught elementary school at Pettytown and Red Rock, both in Bastrop . Lois married Dennis C. Lentz on 6, 1934. had one son, David B. Lentz. The family moved to Conroe after Dennis Lentz concluded his Army service, having served in World War II. On May 1, 1954, Lois joined the staff of the young Montgomery Library, under the direction of Katherine Ard. Her career with the Montgomery Library spanned 22 years, during which she served in every department from clerk to acting librarian. The last 15 years were spent in the reference and cataloging departments. her retirement in 1976, Lois enjoyed reading, gardening, birding with friends, and performing volunteer work at the library and other community organizations. Lois was a Charter Member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Conroe VFW Post #4709 and maintained her membership for more than 40 years. Having served on the founding Board of Directors for the Montgomery Genealogical Society, she helped to compile and edit "Montgomery History" in 1981. Lois was also a Master Gardener and helped to establish the Friendship Garden in Conroe. For many years, she was also a member of the Houston Outdoor Nature Club and was actively involved in the formation of the Big Thicket Preserve in East Texas, a signature project of First Lady, Mrs. Lady Bird Johnson. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis, as well as her parents, two brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by her son, David B. Lentz of Conroe; granddaughter, Suann Lentz Hereford, and her husband, Steven Shane Dulin, of Montgomery; grandson, John Lentz Hereford, and his fiancée, Laurie O'Brien, of Huntsville; great-granddaughter, Kristin Hereford, of Huntsville; great-grandsons Joshua Dulin, of Kingwood, and Jeremy Dulin, currently stationed in San Diego with the US Navy. Lois maintained a loving relationship with the mother of her grandchildren, Sue Hereford, and husband, Charles Hereford. She is also survived by her sister, Ethel McClanahan, of Bastrop, as well as several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Lois will be held on , 14, at 11:00am at the Old Red Rock in Red Rock, Texas. Visitation will be held , 13, from 2:00-4:00pm at Metcalf in Conroe. To celebrate the remarkable life of Lois Lentz, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor her memory by making a donation to the organization of your choice. We would like to thank our friends at the First United Methodist Church in Conroe, especially Janet Stilwell, Janet and Sam Cable, and David and Diane Henderson, for their care and support over the past year. Obituary: Dilys Kanga Lentz was born in Bombay, India on 21, 1926 to Eric and Daisy Kanga. She passed away 21, 2016 on her 90th birthday. She was preceded in death by husband Jack Sumner Lentz and daughter Maureen Stephens. Survived by daughter Mikolette Carlisle, husband Jack Carlisle Jr of Shreveport, LA and grandson Jack Carlisle III of Los Angeles, CA; step-daughter Maxine Kelly and husband Dennis, step-grandson Michael Kelly and wife , step-great-granddaughters Katelyn and Lauren Kelly all of Kingwood, TX; granddaughter Laura Tompkins and husband Charles, great-granddaughter Taryn Young; grandson Scott Butler and great-granddaughters Jackie and Autumn Butler all of Tulsa, OK. For 26 years, Dilys was the concierge of the Lancaster Hotel of Houston, TX, retiring in her 80s. She was a respected and revered member of the International Concierge Association Les Clefs dor receiving their lifetime achievement award. Dilys was known as a gracious and elegant lady. Her love of working in the hotel business came from traveling and living in hotels owned by her father. Dilys lived an interesting young life living in India; Nirobi, Kenya; and visiting her relatives in England and Scotland. Her family wishes to thank Eva Garretson, Beatriz Vargas, BJ Baltrip and Harbor Hospice for all their loving care. Obituary: David Bryan Lentz passed away on , 3, 2016 at the age of 75. David was born on 21, 1940, to Dennis Curry Lentz and Lois Josephine Whitworth, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He attended school in Huntsville and Conroe, graduating from Conroe High School in 1958. David attended Texas A&M University and Lamar University, where he studied civil engineering. He served four years in the Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant with the Army Corps of Engineers. Upon returning to Conroe after his years in the service, he was instrumental in establishing VFW Post 4709. David dedicated his life to VFW Post 4709 with almost 40 years of continuous service as either the Post Commander or Quartermaster, the office that he held at the time of his death. David was honored as VFW Post 4709 All-State Quartermaster and All-State Commander five times during his years of service. He was recently honored by his Post with a Gold Legacy Life Membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. When not working at the VFW Post, David enjoyed following his beloved Aggie sports teams on TV and radio. David was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Lois Lentz. He is survived by his daughter, Suann Lentz Hereford, and her husband, Steven Shane Dulin, of Montgomery; son, John Lentz Hereford, and his fiancée, Laurie O'Brien, of Huntsville; granddaughter, Kristin Hereford, of Huntsville; grandsons Joshua Dulin and wife, Krystle, of Kingwood, and Jeremy Dulin, currently stationed in Okinawa with the US Navy; and the mother of his children, Sue Morgenroth Hereford, of Conroe. Our family is greatly appreciative to his good friend, Frank Malandrucolo, who spent time with him daily for the last few months as well as the staff at Azalea House for their care of David during the last days of his life. Graveside services for David will be held on , 9, at 11:00am at the Old Red Rock in Red Rock, Texas. Visitation will be held , 8, from 6:00-8:00pm at Metcalf in Conroe.
