Obituary: Patricia Jean Hicks Lemmons went to be with her Lord and Savior on , 13. Born in Houston in 1929, Patty committed her life to Christ at Houstons First Baptist Church as a child, and faithfully served the church ever since. She received a bachelors degree from Rice University, and earned her Masters in Education from the University of Houston. dating Mel, the love of her life for 17 years, they tied the knot in 1969. Prior to raising her children she served as the librarian at St. Johns School. Patty retired from the classroom after teaching for 35 years, finishing up her tenure as a kindergarten teacher at Northwest Academy. Her love of teaching the little ones lead her to write many childrens stories and poems as a hobby, and to teach school classes at her church for decades. Patty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, in-law, daughter, sister, and friend. She always made sure that family gatherings happened, that brides had wedding showers, that birthdays were celebrated, and that anybody in need of help and prayer received both in abundance. Most of all Patty was a faithful servant of Christ. For over 30 years, she could be found every at the Faith mission, feeding the hungry with both food and Gods Holy Word. She continually blessed her family and friends with prayer, thoughtfulness, and generosity. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Lemmons & 2 children: Kristen Berglund & Mark Lemmons; 6 grandchildren: Spencer, Claire & Lilly Berglund; Daley, Jacob & Greenley Lemmons along with many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives & friends. Memorial gifts may be made to Blessing Ministry to Ukraine, P.O. Obituary: Myrtis L. Lemmon passed away 2, 2014 in Odessa, at the age of 93. She was born to Artice and Allie Stuart in Jefferson, Texas on 7, 1921. Myrtis graduated from Jefferson High School and East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. She came to Odessa from Michigan with her family in 1948. She taught school, worked at a local finance company, and at Ector Sheriffs Department. Myrtis was Ector s first female court baliff. She retired from Ector after 21 years. Myrtis was a member of American Business Womens Association and belonged to a local chapter for over 30 years. She loved to travel and did so with her husband and friends for 17 years after retiring. traveled all over the U.S. and took several cruises. She was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church and loved her church, especially her School Martha Class, all of its members and the two Senior Groups they had fellowship with (50 plus and Triple L). She married Harvey Lavertte Lemmon, 27, 1940, in Linden, Texas. would have celebrated their 68th Anniversary on 27, 2008. Myrtis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey Lemmon and three brothers. She is survived by one son, Glyen Lemmon of Evergreen, Colorado; one daughter, Brenda Kraus and her husband Lawrence Kraus of Odessa, Texas; (3) Granddaughters and (6) Great Grand Children; one sister, Kathryn Collier of Odessa; sister-in-law, Ruby Lee of Shreveport, Louisiana; and many nieces , nephews, and special cousins. The family will receive friends on , 5, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Frank W. Wilson Directors. services will be , 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Frank W. Wilson Directors with Rev. David Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Special thanks and appreciation to Glory, Zulema, Sandy, and Veronica along with Hospice personnel: Carol, Darrell, Mike, Johnny, and the nurses. We are so thankful they were there for mother.
