Obituary: With our deepest love you will always be remembered. JOSEPH FERNAND LEGER (FERNANDO) 1933 - 2013 (..a man makes history without realizing it..) Jose Ortiz, Journalist, Diario Catolico de San Cristobal. Fernand was born in Sainte-Marie , New Brunswinck Canada on 25th, 1933. Fernand passed away in Garland, Texas on the 20th 2013, at 5:25 a.m., leaving behind his beloved wife, Marlene Cecilia Mendez. In addition, his step-sons and step-daughters along with their families. Guillermo, Patricia, Gustavo, Gabriel, Maria Gabriela and Miguel Angel as well as his step-grandchildren: Javier, Carlos, Andrea, and Damian. His surviving brother and sisters along with their families: Victor, Lucille, Donalda, Maurice, Leonard, Ronald and Louis-Phppe. Deceased: Herberte and Jacques-Rene. Thank you Fernand for having shared with us these last twenty-four years of your lifetime. May God bless you. Fernand had a prolific academic and professional life serving both as a missionary as well as Professor in Philosophy and Theology: He obtained his degree in Theology and was ordained as a Catholic Priest on 26th, 1959 in Bathurst, Canada; soon after he emigrated to Rome, Italy where he lived from 1958 to 1961 and studied at the Pontificia University Gregoriana of Rome, where he graduated in Gregorian Theology obtaining a license in Philosophy Angelicum. wards, in 1961 he left Italy and settled in Venezuela where he lived until the year 2000. During these years he carried out his ecumenical activities serving as a Professor in Philosophy at the Catholic University of Tachira; between 1962 and 1965 he acted as the Spiritual Director of the Seminar of Merida; between 1965 and 1966 he served as the Perfect of the Major Seminar of Caracas and acted as its administrator: between 1967 and 1969 he was appointed Rector of the Seminar in Maracaibo; between 1969 and 1973 he was nominated Professor of Philosophy from the University of Laval, in Quebec, Canada; between 1974 and 1976 he was appointed Rector of Seminario Mayor de Caracas. Fernand carried out his lectures as a Philosophy Professor at the Seminario of Palmira until 1988. Soon after, he settles in Caracas where he became the Provincial of the Eudistas Community to which he belonged. He also served as a Preident o SECORBE. Later on Fernand met his wife and formally requested to be dispensed from priesthood service to the Vatican State. In the year 2000 Fernand and his family settled in the United States of America. Fernand loved his family most dearly as well as his friends and neighbors, and was always very supportive. Throughout his whole life Fernand granted us with his gifted enthusiasm and a superb optimism, showing countless examples of profound faith, humility, decency, great resilience, eloquence, immense generosity but most of all what he will be remembered by is his unconditional love, wisdom and joy, in particular during the last months of great tribulation. Fernando tuvo una vida académica y profesional muy prolífica sirviendo tanto como misionero, así como profesor de Filosofía y Teología. Fernando obtuvo su licenciatura en teología y fue ordenado sacerdote católico el 26 de septiembre de 1959 en Bathurst, Canadá. Poco después emigró a Roma , Italia , donde vivió hasta 1961 y estudió en la Pontificia Universita Gregoriana de Roma, donde se licenció en Teología Gregoriana y en Filosofía Angelicum. Posteriormente, en 1961 dejó Italia y se estableció en Venezuela, donde vivió hasta el año 2000. Durante esos años realizó sus actividades ecuménicas en calidad de profesor de Filosofía en la Universidad Católica del Táchira. Entre 1962 y 1965 se desempeñó como Director Espiritual del Seminario de Mérida; luego, entre 1965 y 1966 ocupó el cargo de Prefecto del Seminario Mayor de Caracas y actuó como su administrador. Entre 1967 y 1969 fue nombrado Rector del Seminario de Maracaibo; entre 1969 y 1973 fue nombrado profesor de Filosofía en el Seminario de San Cristóbal y en 1974 recibió su título de Master en Filosofia de la Universidad de Laval, en Quebec, Canadá. Entre 1974 y 1976 fue nombrado Rector del Seminario Mayor de Caracas. Fernando siguio impartiendo sus enseñanzas como profesor de Filosofía hasta 1988 en el Seminario de Palmira, Tachira. Poco despues, Fernando se radica en Caracas desempeñando el cargo de Provincial de la Comunidad Eudista a la cual el pertenecia; asimismo, siguio su profesorado ante el ITER y fue Presidente de SECORBE. Luego, Fernando conoció a su amada esposa y solicitó formalmente la dispensa del servicio apostólico ante el Estado del Vaticano. En el año 2000 Fernando y su familia se establecieron en los Estados Unidos de América. Fernando amó profundamente a su familia, así como a sus amigos y vecinos, y siempre fue un gran apoyo para todos. Obituary: Donnie Dell Leger, age 93, passed away , May 27, 2014. Born in Houston, Texas, she was an excellent cook who could provide enormous delicious meals, and loved horror books and movies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Wilfred Bobby Leger, Sr.; infant daughter, Robin Renee Leger; son, Wilfred Sonny Leger, Jr.; grandson, Jimmye Carl Jimbo Leger, Jr.; parents, Bridget and Alfred Rose; 2 brothers; and 5 sisters. Survived by daughters, Jacquelene Blizzard and husband William, Dorothy Priesmeyer and husband Bill, Bobbie Lou Henry, and Sheri DeLeon and husband Lou; son, Jimmye Leger and wife Beverly; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., , 1, 2014 at Earthman Resthaven . The Celebration of Life Service will be 12:30 p.m., , 2, 2014 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven.
