Obituary: Major Edwin Louis St. Mesme LeBreton, (Ret.), of Round Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully in his Fathers arms on 25, 2014 in the company of his loving family. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on 16, 1917 to Albert Jr. and Marie St. Mesme LeBreton. As a young man Edwin served in the Louisiana National Guard in a Calvary unit where he rode a roan named Jeb Stuart. Edwin was a veteran of WWII and continued his service in the United States Army for 26 years in the Army Corps of Engineers. He served his country stateside, in Japan and France. He met Neva Lee Jimison while stationed in San Antonio, Texas and they were married on 21, 1943. Six sons and one daughter were the gift of their union. Edwin moved his family to Lubbock, Texas after retiring from the Army where he and two of his sons enrolled at Texas Tech University. The family later moved to Round Rock, Texas where they actively served their church and community. Edwin was known for his generous giving nature. He served in the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years and as Treasurer of St. William Catholic Church for more than 30 years. He was always available when needed. Edwin leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 71 years, Neva Lee St. Mesme LeBreton; sons, Robert Paul of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Stephen and wife Donna of Austin, Texas, Eddie and wife of Round Rock, Texas, David and wife Janet of Bertram, Texas; daughter, Mary and husband Lawrence Hammons of Pflugerville, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his sons, Michael Dean and John Emil. The family will greet guests at a visitation to be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on , 29, 2014 with the recitation of the Rosary and a celebration of his life at 7:00 pm at Cook-Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas. A Celebration of the Holy Mass will be held at 10:00 am on , 30, 2014 at St. William Catholic Church in Round Rock, Texas. Committal Services with Military Honors will take place at Ft. Sam Houston National in San Antonio, Texas at 1:15 pm on , 31, 2014. |

Obituary: Wanda Maurine( Harris) Lebow,85, passed away , 26, 2014 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Services will be held , 2, 2014 in the chapel of Hampton Vaughan with the Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 , 1, 2014 at the funeral home. Wanda was born 8, 1929, La Crosse, Ark. to Henry Bennett and Joyce Harris. She was the oldest of three children. Her father was a Rancher and Farmer and mother was a homemaker in Madill, Oklahoma where she graduated from Madill High School. Wanda went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Southeastern State in Durant, Oklahoma. She then went to Midwestern University where she earned a Masters Degree in Education. Her teaching career began in Antlers, Oklahoma where she met her future husband, Jackie. married in Paris, Tx. on 7, 1952 and then moved to El Paso, Texas where he served in the military and she taught school. finishing his tour of duty and after the birth of their son, Jackie Jr., they eventually moved to Holliday, Texas where she taught High School Math for 4 years. In 1961 they moved to Wichita Falls and she became one of the original teachers at Rider High School where she taught Math and directed the Number Sense Team for many years. She retired in 1988 after 33 years of teaching . retirement she enjoyed traveling, church activities, and going to family reunions in Arkansas and Oklahoma. She was a lifelong Baptist and a member of First Baptist Church and eventually Colonial Baptist in Wichita Falls, Tx. which she attended regularly until her health prevented it. She had a deep faith that was evident in the way she lived her life and treated those around her. She was a very dedicated educator and it was evident in her teaching. Many of her students still remember her ever present smile and here caring attitude through even the most difficult situations. Before her retirement, she was asked to compare her first students at Rider and the students she was teaching now. Her response was, Girls today are not afraid to show that they are smart and I am proud to say that a bigger number of students are gaining national recognition scholastically. Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Jackie Lebow Sr. She is survived by her son; Jackie William Lebow Jr. and wife Patricia, grandsons; Daniel Lebow and wife Jennifer and Christopher Lebow and wife Whitney, great-granddaughter; Emily, sisters; Rowena Sparlin and Sue Rader and several nieces and nephews. |
