services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., , 24, 2010 at Bratcher , 401 W. Woodard St., Denison, Texas 75020, with Rev. Judith Reedy officiating.

He was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Jack and Norma Lavender on 18, 1938. He graduated from high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He later joined the U.S. Navy (1957-1959) and was a 1st Class Petty Officer.

Johnnie was a man of many trades; carpet layer, ½ owner in a motorcycle shop, residential construction and supervisor of commercial construction; to name a few.

His favorite things were fishing, boating, hunting, bull riding, race car driving, and a passion for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle; traveling all across the United States. In 1971, he became a member of the Banshees motorcycle club, as well as the American Legion.

On 16, 1971, he married his wife, Barbara (Poochie) in Plano, Texas and resided there until his retirement in 1999, when they moved to Pottsboro.

Johnnie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He never met a stranger and had a sense of humor that would always put a smile on everyones face. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. Johnnie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding him in death were his parents Norma Lee and Jack William Lavender.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Barbara; sons Link Lavender and wife Mary of Sarasota, Florida and Leo Lavender of Denison, Texas; daughters Lisa Lavender of Red Rock, Texas, Melanie Thompson and husband, Eric, Deborah Janes and husband Dan, all of the Colony, Texas; nine grandchildren, Julie, Kalem & wife Keri, Cody, Erica, Kalahan, Andrea, Jesse, William, John-Michael; two great grandchildren, Jordan and Jackson; Nancy Parsons, mother of his three children; 6 sisters-in-law, 5 brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & his much loved dog, Hoover.

Jim was born 8, 1954, to the Rev. Garland and Grace Lavender in Ranger. Being the son of a minister, he moved to different towns following his dad's appointments. Some of his fondest childhood memories were from his life in Farmersville, a period that he described as the "Wonder Years." He later moved to the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas where he discovered his love of the electric guitar. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1972 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1977.
Jim worked in mortgage servicing for several years, but had a great love and talent for music. He played guitar in several bands in the Dallas-Fort Worth area including Soundhouse, Too Smooth, War Horse, Slip Stream, River of Life, Ancient Winds, The Jon Early Band and a number of others. He once stated, "I relate everything in life to music in some way, form or fashion."
Jim leaves behind his wife, Melanie Dawn, who was his love for 33 years. He is also survived by a son, James Scott Lavender; daughter, Laura Grace Lavender; goddaughter, Rebecca Lauren Thatcher; and sister, Nancy Guerry and her husband, Bill Guerry.
Jim was known by friends and family as a great communicator of written and spoken word. His quick wit, sense of humor and compassion for others will be greatly missed.

Obituary: Gerald J. Lavender, age 93, died , 11, 2014 after a short illness. He was born 7, 1920 in Newberry, Michigan. His parents, Edward and Bertha, owned the local bakery there, and he was the youngest of their seven children. Gerald (Gerry) Lavender served in the US Army Air Force during World War II as a Navigator on B17 bombers. Gerry, a 1st Lieutenant, guided over 75 missions over Europe, and was decorated many times. the war, Gerry finished his degree from the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and became a geophysicist in the oil and gas industry. Gerry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Gladys Joyce Lavender; his son Gerry Lavender and daughter-in-law, Carol Lavender of San Antonio; his daughter Diane Fugate and son-in-law, John Fugate; grandsons Sean Fugate; Dillon Fugate and wife, Jennifer Fugate and one great grandson, Grady Fugate, all of Houston. Obituary: Dorothy Lee (Dennis) Lavender, 93, passed away at her home in Irving, TX on 3, 2015. She was born to Henry and Hattie (Blackman) Dennis on 30, 1922 in Rylie, TX.



Dorothy was a graduate of Seagoville High School. She was the epitome of a lady and loved her family tremendously. Dorothy, affectionately known as Grandmother to her grandchildren, was a true family person and appreciated quality time with her loved ones. In the last few years of her life, she developed a real love of country music. She and her husband, James Lavender, enjoyed 51 years of marriage until his passing in 1992, and were absolutely the love of each other’s life.



Preceding her in death are her parents, four sisters, one brother, and husband.



Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Buddye Wayne Lavender and wife, Carolyn of Seabrook, TX, James Timothy Lavender of Irving, TX, Richard Don Lavender and wife, Maria of Sunnyvale, TX; grandchildren: Andrea Lavender, Dr. Katherine Lavender, Jed Lavender and Kevin Lavender; great-grandchildren: Michael Taylor, Adam Kaser and Darby Kaser; nieces: Vicki Dennis and Bettie Hudler; nephew: Jerry Dennis.



Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on , 7, 2015 at Roselawn , Seagoville, TX. services will be at 2:00 p.m. (after the visitation) followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Garden of Scriptures. Obituary: Donald R. Lavender went home to be with the Lord on 20th, 2013 at the age of 89. He was born to parents Jesse and Mamye Arenz Lavender in Lowell, Illinois, on 20th, 1924. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and married Thelma BuSteed on 25th, 1948. While raising three boys, he was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church and worked at Libby Owens Ford in Naplate, IL until retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post #33, serving as Post Commander, active member of the Honor Guard and member of the Boys State Selection Committee. Don loved his wife, family and the Lord and will be remembered for his bright blue eyes and his kind heart. The special songs, phrases and stories will live on in Lavender generations to come. Don is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Thelma Lavender and son, Steve Lavender and daughter in law Melanie Sandrolini Lavender; siblings, Muriel Smith and Jean Donnelly. He is survived by his two sons, Tom Lavender and wife Belinda, Jeff Lavender and wife , and 9 grandchildren, Mike, Jessica, Bryan, Caitlin, Blake and his wife Libby, Clair and her husband Kenny Hicks, Sara, Mary, Emily and 2 great-granddaughters, Abigail and Emma Lavender; siblings, Jack Lavender, Bob Lavender and wife Marge and Corrine French and husband Taylor.
