Obituary: Rita Joan Lapaglia Rita Joan Lapaglia passed away peacefully in her sleep on , 17. With her passing, the world has become much dimmer for those who loved her. Rita was born in Akron, Ohio, on 8, 1925. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1943, and went to work in the banking industry. She met her husband Phil at a dance in 1945, and they danced together through the next 60+ years. Rita loved music and dancing. She always had her radio on, and she made sure that she and Phil always made at least one date night a month to go dancing. Even in the lean years. Rita loved throwing parties, and for years her beloved family and friends always looked forward to her Christmas parties. Rita devoted her life to caring for her husband and family; to counseling and advising her family in times of need; and to enjoying the friendship of her many friends. As an Army wife, Rita lived in many different cities and countries around the world. She grew to love traveling, and after their retirements, she and her husband continued their travels for the next 30 years. In fact, Rita often said that some of her happiest times were spent with her husband driving in their car cross country on their next big adventure. Rita loved crocheting - her exquisite afghans were always in demand and were cherished by all who received them. She loved working her puzzle books and playing games on the computer, and she was an expert at doing many things at the same time. She was an excellent baker and was often encouraged to open her own bakery. She loved baking Christmas cookies and candy, especially when her grandchildren came to help. She shared a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and she circled them with her love. Rita is survived by her beloved husband Phil; her 5 children: Phyllis Lapaglia, Larry Lapaglia, Peggy Corley, John Lapaglia and his wife Brenda, and Mariann Cox and her husband George; her 6 grandchildren: Capt. Lisa Corley, Renee Lapaglia, Sarah Corley, Brandon Lapaglia, Erin Lapaglia and Elise Lapaglia; her many dear and loyal friends, and her large and loving extended family. Rita was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She always had a strong shoulder to lean on for anyone who needed help or advice, and she was always the first one to pitch in when any work needed to be done. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. Her legacy of love and her zest for life will continue to light up the lives of all who knew her. We will all miss her. Visitation will be , 23, 2010 from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Colonial . Mass will be celebrated , 24, 2010 at 12:30 P.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National . Obituary: Tony Lapaglia, Sr., 88, of Bryan passed away , 14, 2010 at his home. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary . Tony Lapaglia Sr. was born 27, 1921 in Livingston, Montana to Tony G. and Rosalia Lapaglia. He was a first generation Italian American and a veteran of World War II. He touched many lives in his 88 years. Tony was a widower for 10 years, a brother, a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 55 years, Minnie Caronia; his parents; sister, Mary Ann Feltner; son, Ronnie Lapaglia; and brothers, Carsodonia and William Lapaglia. Obituary: Angela Marie Lapaglia, 31, was called home to the Lord's loving embrace on 24, 2015. Her four feet nine inch stature could not belie the size of her heart. She was always quick with a smile, a hug, and an invitation to her next birthday party. She enjoyed playing slot machines and Uno, singing, dancing, striking a pose for the camera, and riding at the front of the Metro Lift bus. She was a proud Special Olympian who won numerous medals for track and field. She also enjoyed going to a good party at any time. She joins her grandparents Joe and Mary Lapaglia, Pete and Fene DeCola, and her Aunt Maria Lapaglia. Obituary: The Laosa family matriarch passed away with family at her side in the early hours of Good , 14, 2017, in Austin. Born in Havana, Cuba, May 13, 1921, she grew up there and on the family farm as an only child to Miguel Angel and Gloria Cuervo Moro. Later graduated from La Imaculada, also in Havana, with a degree in home economics, about the time she met her first and only love, Luis ro Laosa. married on her twenty fourth birthday, May 13, 1945. Gloria and Luis began their life together in Havana but at Glorias insistence, in 1961, immigrated with their children to the United States in the midst of the communist revolution in Cuba. Within days of arriving in the US, they moved to Austin which was their home since 1961. During the difficult transition to life in a new country, she was the family rock and its compass. Always positive and pointing out the good in all things, she graciously carried that trait until her last days. No problem or challenge was too great to overtake her positive outlook on life. Her faith was deep. She always said, God has been very good, I have no complaints. She had a way to make each one of us feel special. In fact, SHE was the special one. She was a force of nature. Not a small one. Husband, Luis, predeceased her. She is survived by sons, Luis, Richard and Mike (Caryn) Laosa and nephew Luis Consuegra (Lissette); grandchildren, Yvonne, Michael, Jennifer, Sean, James, Adrienne & Kassandra; and five great-grandchildren, Kylie, Nikolai, Russell, Luca and Hudson.
