Obituary: Ross was a native Texan, born in Linden, Texas and an only child of Huba and Emmett Lanier. At age 15, he was a freshman at Texas A&M University. Being named for Lawrence Sullivan Ross, the historical statue on campus, Ross had known most of his life that he was destined to be an Aggie. Ross enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served over three years for our country. his honorable discharge, he returned to Texas A&M University and earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1947 and later his Masters degree in 1948. Ross married his hometown sweetheart, Jo Hamilton, in 1948 and returned to Texas A&M to finish his studies. graduation, they moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he taught electrical engineering at the University of Arkansas. In 1952, he moved his family to Dallas, while working at Chance Vaught and continued his studies in several fields. He received an advanced degree from Texas A&M, taught classes at University of Texas at Arlington, received his real estate brokers license as well as his Certified Public Accountant license. retiring from LTV in 1988, Ross and Jo enjoyed traveling with their friends to locations like Alaska, Hawaii, Europe and Tahiti. Ross lived a blessed life. He truly enjoyed each day. He was a wonderful man of conviction, loyal to God and his family. He is survived by Jo, his wife of 68 years; his three children: Dr. Michael Lanier (Dale), Joe Lanier (Linda), Judy McReynolds (Earl); eight grandchildren: Brandon Lanier, Matt Lanier, Sherri Sims, Jonathan Lanier, David Lanier, Joshua Lanier, Jennifer Gibson, Joanna Murray; nine great-grandchildren: Corban, Paige, Elaina, Rylan, Kaleb, Chance, Kinley, Reagan and Raleigh. He was proud of each one and their individual accomplishments. It was a priority to constantly affirm those that he loved. Ross always remained faithful in his calling to serve the Lord. He served on the church finance committee, was a deacon as well as president of his bible study class for 12 years. On nights he was also part of a team that visited the Mineral Wells prison and shared the Gospel with prisoners. He touched many lives. Tom Brokaw once called his generation the epitome of everything good, the greatest generation. Ross served as a perfect example. |

Obituary: Robert G. Lanier, age 64, of Corpus Christi, Texas, formerly of Princeton, left this world on Feb. 15, 2016 at Bayside Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born 16, 1951 to Luther and Donna Lanier in Beardstown, IL. Bob was employed by the Flour Bluff Independent School District as a special needs- teachers aid. Bob was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Moose where he achieved the Degree of Pilgrim, and received many awards. He served as Administrator of Princeton lodge 1339 for ten years. Bob was an active member of the Princeton community in many ways such as, Volunteer fireman, Act IV Theater Co, Lions club, and others. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susie (Dean) Lanier, One Daughter Ami (Don) Eckel of Sterling IL, One Son Andy (Brandie) Lanier of Princeton, and three grand daughters, Abbi Eckel, Anna Lanier, and Sophia Lanier. Obituary: .Mildred Geneva Thornton Lanier (Shortie) entered this world on 28, 1922 and departed for her heavenly home on 23, 2016. She was born to John Edgar (J.E.) Thornton and Maude Estelle Johnson Thornton in Bell where Still House Hollow Lake is now located. She Married Jack Lanier on 12, 1940 and he preceded her in death on 23, 1989. She worked at various jobs during the war before moving back to Killeen where she was employed by Civil Service at Ft. Hood for over 33 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Killeen for 83 years where she taught School for over 20 years. She was an active member of the Womens Missionary Union and Christian Womens Club for several years. Shortie loved to travel and took many trips through the years with family and friends. Each trip was an adventure to her and, in typical Shortie fashion, never met a stranger no matter where she was. She loved her family unconditionally. She is survived by two sisters, Doris Gilliam and Marie Byers of Killeen and one brother, Billy Thornton and his wife Annette of Salado. She was affectionally known as Little Auntie to her numerous nieces and nephews, including great and great-great- nieces and nephews. Visitation will be , 27, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm at Crawford Bowers in Killeen, Texas. services will be , 28, at 10:00 am at Crawford Bowers in Killeen. Burial to follow at Killeen City Cememtery. |

Obituary: Mark Robert Lanier, O.D. Memorial services for Dr. Mark Lanier, 52, of Nacogdoches will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 24, 2010, at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church, with the Reverend Mike Thomas officiating. Dr. Lanier went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on , 21, 2010. He was born 3, 1957 in Fort Worth, Texas to Robert and Marilyn Singletary Lanier. Dr. Lanier graduated from Henderson High School in 1975; he attended Kilgore and graduated from Baylor University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He graduated from the University of Houston of Optometry in 1984. Dr. Lanier moved with his wife Leslie to Nacogdoches in 1984, where he began his optometric career working for Dr. H.L. Stockwell before becoming owner of Nacogdoches Eye Associates in 1985. He was a member of the Piney Woods Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association and served as the team Optometrist for the Stephen F. Austin State University Athletic Department. Dr. Lanier co-managed the George Bush Election Campaign for Nacogdoches in 1994 and 1998 and managed the Wayne Christian Campaign for Nacogdoches in 1996, 1998 and 2000. He was also a member of various national and state fundraising committees. Dr. Lanier was a member of the Fredonia Rotary Club, served as a board member for the Boys and Girls Club of Nacogdoches, the Nacogdoches Codes Board and Fredonia Hill Baptist Academy and also served on various Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce committees as well as various Stephen F. Austin Athletic Booster committees. Dr. Lanier was a member of Fredonia Hill Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon for a number of years. He was also a member of the Gideons, Nacogdoches Chapter. Dr. Lanier is survived by his mother, Marilyn Singletary Lanier of Henderson, Texas; wife, Leslie Lanier of Nacogdoches, Texas; sons Preston and Logan Lanier; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joyce and Jim Smith of Longview, Texas; sister-in-law, DeeAnn Lanier of Carrollton, Texas; brother-in-law, Dr. Steve Smith and his wife Becky of Bozeman, Montana; sister-in-law Dr. Krista Darr and her husband Dan of Longview, Texas; nieces Brittney Lanier, Meagan Lanier, Katie Lanier, Dr. Jenny Smith, Ali Smith, Kelli Schuit, Courtney Smith, Lauren Darr, and nephew Ryan Darr, as well as other aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of friends. Dr. Lanier was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lanier of Henderson, Texas; brother, Dr. Paul Lanier of Carrollton, Texas; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Frances Lanier of Arp, Texas and Millie Lanier of Arlington, Texas; and maternal grandparents Frank and Minnie Singletary of Troup, Texas.
