Obituary: Ann Carter Lang was born May 5, 1948 in Bryan, Texas. She died unexpectedly at her home in Austin, Texas, on May 28, 2017. She is survived by her brother, Ray Lang, by her nieces and nephews and their families, and by a large extended family. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Ann (Carter) Lang, and by her sister Pamela. A funeral will be held at Oakwood in Austin, Texas. It will take place on , 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers may do so with any charity related to the benefit and protection of animals. Ann's close friend Scooter Rushing has provided the following passage which will be read at the funeral and is being shared here for those who are unable to attend: Ann had lived in Austin for over 40 years, so she was an Austinite. She had her own business, ACL Typesetting, which she ran successfully for over 30 years in one office location. She recently semi retired and was exploring new avenues. She had acquired many local clients, some who became long time friends and remain so to this day. There never was and never will be a better, more loyal, trustworthy & giving friend than Ann. If she liked you, you knew it. If Ann gave you her word, that was it, all you needed. Ann loved and adored all animals. There is nothing she would not do to help, protect, and care for any of Gods creatures. Whether it was money, or time needed, she gave it gladly and willingly. She leaves behind he poodles," Rufus and Sister, whom she adored, as she did every animal she ever had. People often said they wanted to come back as one of Anns dogs, and rightfully so. Also she was very involved with horses. She had been an active member of The Central Texas Arabian Horse Association for many years. She participated in all factions of the club, from setting up shows, to running the office and events, printing the newsletters, and whatever else needed doing. She leaves behind her beloved horse Little Debbie." Every animal she ever came in contact with was the better for it. Ann was most assuredly a fanatical University of Texas sports fan. Didn matter what sport, she followed 'em all. Ann was never happier than when she was watching a game in person (women's basketball mainly), or sitting on her orange couch with a glass of red wine in one hand and poodles at her side. Life was truly good! She was an excellent athlete in her own right, excelling in golf and tennis. The summers she spent at her beloved Camp Longhorn were indeed some of her best memories. She never forgot all the fun she had, many of the campers, and the great food! She really loved camp." Attawaytogo Ann! Ann is survived by an extended family including many members of the Carter family. She was really looking forward to the annual family reunion in Galveston this weekend and enjoyed this annual event. The holidays she spent with her family were really special to her, and she treasured them. Ann is also survived by many many dear friends who will miss her until their final days. We love you Ann, and we are so sorry you left us way too soon. We all have lots of great memories of the good times. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have had Ann in our lives, in whatever capacity, are truly blessed. She will be sincerely missed. As long as we can love each other and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away. All the love you created is still here. All the memories are still here. You live on in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here. Death ends a life, not a relationship. RIP , Ann Carter. |
