Obituary: Mr. Lindon Lampin completed his long, prosperous, loving and fulfilling life journey on , 4, 2017, Lindon passed peacefully in his home in the Nacogdoches community. Born May 14, 1946, to father Benjamin Franklin Lampin and mother Ollar Ester Pilcher. Lindon grew up and graduated high school in Many, Louisiana. Lindon later moved to Nacogdoches Texas to become a chicken farmer. It was here where he met the love of his life and planted the roots of what would soon become his family tree. Lindon married Mary E. Muckleroy on 18, 1965. She later blessed him with two beautiful daughters Trisha and Karen. Lindon worked long hard hours as a chicken and cattle farmer, but he loved every minute of it. It was his calling in life. Lindon was a firm believer in doing what he liked. Although he spent a great deal of time working to provide for his family, Lindon always made ample time to enjoy his passions in life. A passion Lindon had that stood out above all else was hunting and spending time in the outdoors. Lindon loved to hunt as much as any man alive. He prided himself on showing off his impressive game room of deer, elk, bobcats, and just about everything else that had hair and lived in the woods. Lindon made it a priority in life not only to introduce his children and grandchildren to the outdoors, but to teach them the importance of sharing it with others. Lindon would spend hours on end at the deer lease looking at deer tracks, putting out corn, and complaining about all the hog sign. There was no question of Lindons favorite time of year. When the air turned thin, the leaves began to change and deer season was among us. Lindon would spend the whole year anticipating Opening Day. Lindon had a special place in his heart for his grandkids. Countless hours were spent taking them to hunt, riding them to see the cows on the mule, taking them fishing, and hauling them from town to town to every ball game. Lindon made it a point to be the loudest Woden fan cheering in the stands. All members of the Woden community knew his name, players, coaches and fans alike. He always brightened everyones moral. In the later years of his life, all things that Lindon loved to do became more special to him because he was able to incorporate a loving family into his passions that had grown beyond his wildest dreams. No one could ever ask for a better husband, father or grandfather. He truly was a great man with a genuine heart of gold. There was never a person he met that he didn like. Never a person in need that he wouldn help. Lindons always positive attitude reflected on the lives of so many. He was loved by many and will truly be missed by all, but all may rest easy knowing that Lindon is watching over us from a deer stand somewhere on the outskirts of heaven. The lessons that Lindon gifted to his friends and family will live on forever in our memories. His survivors include his wife of over 51 years, Mary Elizabeth Muckleroy Lampin; brother, Gerald K. Lampin and wife Sharon of Garrison; daughters, Karen Lampin Chandler and husband Clark of Nacogdoches and Patricia Lampin Cox and husband Kevin of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Kaylyn Chandler Moody and husband Brad of Nacogdoches, Madalyn Chandler of Nacogdoches, Landon Lowery of Nacogdoches, Daniel Cox and wife Nikki of Chandler, and Kimberly Jones and husband Brian of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Macy Moody, Gracie Moody, Brayden Moody, Mackenzi Cox, Colin Cox, and Sterling Jones; his mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Muckleroy of Nacogdoches; two sister-in-laws Mollie Lampin and Geraldine Lampin and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Lampin and Ollar Ester Pilcher Lampin; brothers, Draden "Pete" Lampin and Grady Ray Lampin; sisters, Eula B. Davenport, Myrtlee Shaw, and Shirley Thomas Butler; and his father-in-law, Guy Taylor Muckleroy Jr. Services are set for 2:00 p.m. , 8, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf's Sunset Chapel with Kim Squiers and Shannon "Shak" Arrington officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview , located off Hwy 21 East. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. , 7, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
